Hey True Blood fans!

I was just checking for when Season 2 starts, and I found out that the new season begins TOMORROW night at 9 pm. Yeah!

I just got finished reading all the Sookie books published so far. I'm kind of addicted! :)

Amy

Yea! I don't have HBO anymore, so I've got the last couple of episodes of Season 1 to watch on dvd! Have to wait for the second season to come out later. It's a good series!

:D:D:D

Just reread Living Dead in Dallas to refresh my memory...

Did you check the online interviews with the cast? Seems like they made a terrific job building the vampire hotel!

Can't wait to see how they change the story line to surprise us!!!

Chris.

Ooohh yeah, . . .I'm so glad I'm not the only one here who watches this show. LOVE IT!!! I'm reading the books now so far I like those too. I think that HBO has done such a great job casting for the series. They all really do a great job. That Jason Stackhouse is ripped to perfection it is just wrong!!! I just love Sam's character. I can't wait to see what Bill does with the new Vamp that he made when Pam and Eric dumped her on his door step.

I'm reading this book right now too. Surprisingly I like how I enjoy both the book and the show, . . even with all the differences. Usually when they try to make a movie out of a really good book one always turns out better than the other. I better finish this book today to find out what happens.

love the show, LOVE the books!!! im on book 6 now and i can safely say these are sooooo addictive. im curious to see how close they stay to the book as to the cause of the "mysterious" death at the end of last season LOL ;)

im gonna be blasphemous now and admit i actually like these books a whole lot better than the twilight series. bella got on my nerves by the end; sookie is just so awesome, i cant get enough of her!!

Melissa, you're not blasphemous... :D:D:D The Twilight series might be a nice read (though not very well penned), but it's aimed towards teenage readers, with a more or less linear story. I got bored by book 2... Bella got on my nerves, too! Big time! Both in the book and the film...:eek::eek:
On the other hand, Charlaine Harris has created a whole supernatural world, with politics, laws, traits and characters so diverse it is almost "believable". And I like how the story evolves from book to book without deviating or omitting facts you have already come across (what's Bill's agenda, why the vampires are so attracted to Sookie's blood etc.)
In the cast interviews, they said that for those of us who have read the book we already know who is behind the murder. But I am sure the politician Lafayette was "keeping company" to, has something to do with it...
Having read all 9 books, now that I'm going back to them I get stuff in more detail.
SPOILER: Can't wait for Sam to turn into a tiger!!!! :D:D:D

Chris.

I just finished Sookie #9 this week, Dead and Gone. For those of you who've read it, you'll know what I mean when I say that I am going to be in agony waiting a year for #10 to see how Sookie comes through all of this! That was a game changer, don't you think? I foresee some major revelations about her grandfather and his motives....and, of course, the men in her life!

Can't wait for tonight! I never thought I'd like both a tv and book series based on the same characaters but with some fairly major differences--but this show works! (Although I am one who wishes the more amorous scenes weren't quite so explicit...but that's just me).

Christos - come on :) clearly he meant Eric - he always called Eric "the vampire" recall Eric got Sookie connected with her grandfather....

apparently the twist on the tv show is that the newbie vampire will cause a riff between sookie and bill, thus creating the love triangle....if you read the books you know that it is Eric that killed the bartender and then created the blood bond - not Bill (who is such a wuss). That whole way that played out in the hbo series annoyed me because it basically negates book 5 altogether.

Heck I'm with you. I hated, . .hated, . .hated the Twilight books and movie. Hated it. The Sookie Stackouse books are written so well, . .they are for adults though. I just read Sookie Stackhouse book's #3 , #4, and #5 just today I can't get enough. I hear the argument that the Twilight series was written with teens in mind but come on, . . . .even teens deserve better writing than that junk, . . I mean Harry Potter, Inkheat, Eragon, . . . there are some really great teen books out there and some of the classics that I read as a teen, . .Little Women, The Lost World, Uncle Tom's Cabin. I though Stephen King was a little out of line when he bashed the author of Twilight but now I can see why he did. ~~~don't flame me I just like GOOD vampire books. This is soo just my opinion and nothing more. I'm just a mere boring human not worthy of ripping into.
By the way Chris I totally agree, . . the Bella Twilight thing so lost my interest after the second book. I'm just sorry that I felt obligated to read the 3rd and 4th book. I feel robbed of my time.

That's what I thought, too. Or hoped... I was just reading book 3 and at some point Eric says to Sookie "I hate having feelings". So, there... Eric it is!!! :D
I only read book 1 once, so I can't really remember what happened in the bar interrogation scene. I really don't know what road the newbie vampire's involvement in the story will take (and I hope it's interesting and with a twist) but I bet Alan Ball has something wicked on his mind!

Chris

I got hooked on True Blood just by reading the episode recaps on the website and getting onto the fan Wiki! I haven't read any of the books...yet. I sooo wish I had HBO! I will have to continue to rent Season 1, and read the books & Wiki...sigh.

Re: Twilight - I saw it because I see just about every vampire movie. Thought the acting was awful and couldn't get over the "sparkling" bit. So I decided to read the books, "to see what all the fuss was about." Oh, hell - then I had to read the whole series and become a fan of that, too! While the books and movies won't win any Pulitzers or Oscars, they are good escapism.

That said, I am really looking forward to diving into the Sookie Stackhouse series!

SPOLIERS IN HERE! DON'T READ UBLESS YOU'VE SEEN THE EPISODE!!!

Ooook! Just finished watching the first episode of season 2... I am SO glad Alan Ball changed the storyline for us readers! Couldn't be happier not knowing what to expect...

SPOILERS FOLLOWING!!!!

First off, Lafayette is still alive and someone else was found dead in the car... woohooooo!!!! What's up with that???
There are quite a few funny scenes but when Eric appeared with the hair salon coat and the aluminum foils in his hair (for his highlights) I couldn't stop laughing! Taking the guy viciously apart while having the foil in his hair was grossly hilarious! I love Alan Ball!!!!

Chris.

I love this series and can't wait for it to start again. I guess I will have to read the novels as well now that it is summer.

seriously, I thought that scene was one of the best I have ever seen - and not just because I think Alex Skarsgard is a swedish GOD :)
I will give it up for Bill for once - the recycling comment had me rolling.

Who is this woman that is housing Tara - that whole storyline is odd.
Jason and the fellowship is creeping me out - he is going to get into big trouble during that conference....

Maybe they changed the death based on viewer feedback (people love Lafayette's character - it is much bigger on the show than in the book).

Being read up on the books makes you quickly realize series differences and wonder how they will address (or ignore) it. Like when Jason was in the bar with Hoyt and Tara was serving drinks - doesn't Tara marry Hoyt in the later books?

what does everyone think of Evan Rachel Wood playing the Queen - not sure I am feeling that one...

Overall, I thought last night's episode was okay ...

Judging from the book, I guess Maryann is the Maenad. Remember Tara & Eggs being at the orgy?

Can't remember who Hoyt marries, though... But Evan Rachel Wood... YEAH!!!! Although the Queen is supposed to be about 15 yo...

I thought the episode was a great season 2 kick off... Only drawback is I can't really be "Mr. Know It All" to my friends... They rendered me useless when I told them Lafayette was dead in the car!!!:eek::eek:

Chris.

Sooo, my cable isn't working and Tivo just recorded a blank screen. All of my channels above 100 aren't working. Can you believe this?!?! I spoke to the cable company and tried their advice, but it didn't work and I'll have to call them back.

I hope I get it working again soon. I know they're reruning it a lot and I can't wait to see it! :(

I thought that she was supposed to be the maenad too but I don't get the whole thing with her wanting Tara to hook up with the new guy???, . . what was his name again? What would be the purpose of that? I also am dying to know about Sam's relationship with her. I haven't finished reading all the books yet, . . .tell me does Sookie ever hook up with Sam? I love Sam. I saw in a preview the part where Sookie gets clawed by the the Maenad so I'm pretty sure that Maryanne is supposed to be that character. I also love how they twisted the story with Jason joing the Fellowship of the Sun, . . I can't wait to see how that will pan out, . .esp since in the book there was a big "ta da" thing going on there. Ugh, . .can't wait. I'm so glad I'm not the only one here who loves this show.
