I did it and really liked it! MMA Boxing is one of, if not my favorite of the Shock cardios. It was hard enough (for me) without the gloves and bag, I can't even imagine what it would have been like with them!
But I just followed Cathe and did what she said and got a great 20 minute add on.
I would love a bag but just don't have room for one - where do you all keep your heavy bags when you're not using them?
I also want to know if anyone has found some sort of bag substitute that won't take up much room, is portable etc but would be effective as well. Anyone successfully improvised?
I wont be getting a bag for some time, not in our budget after our last STS purchase. But I think I will try it w/out the bag. Didn't think I could. Can't wait to try it.
Autumn.
I did it without the bag, holding 1 pound hand weights It worked a treat, i was sweating, and sore! I don't have the space for a bag, but they look so fun!!
I thought about that but didn't think about pillows. I workout when DH isn't home so not really an option for me unfortunately (well..fortunately for DH!)
I also did the workout without a bag and felt like I got a good workout in a short period of time. (Hadn't considered strapping pillows to my hubby, perhaps another day !)
I tried it tonight with my wrist weights and after I just got done doing 40/20 and I felt it really good. Wish I could get the bag though it looks so fun!
I found a Century Wavemaster in the local classified ads for $40. It's a lot of fun--except I had to invest in bag gloves, which were almost as much as the bag. Anyway, check for used equipment.
True! I think you could get a great workout with no bag and weighted gloves. I've done this workout twice: The first time was after 40/20, and the second time after MMA Kickbox. I burned more calories after 40/20 even though I didn't yet have bag gloves and couldn't punch very hard--I'm sure it was because my HR was already way up there. The bag was fun when I had the gloves, but I think I still feel it more in my arms and upper back when I do "air" kickbox with weighted gloves.
That was just a rambling way of saying I think you'll get just as good a workout without the bag.
