haven't heard much lately about Muscle Max - anyone?

I'm currently waiting till tomorrow to get this workout and am really excited. Though I'm surprised I don't see more posts about it. Any new reviews about this workout?

It's not terribly fresh in my mind as I've only done it once...but I do remember LOVING it to death. Just wait until you get a taste of what that band can do. Ouchie. I love it!

I haven't done it yet, because I'm currently doing a rotation using all the Hardcores, and Gym Style is my weight workout for the first 3 weeks.

It's a fabulous total body weight workout! Cathe does variations on familiar exercises and also incorporates the band. As I recall she also goes a littler heavier with her weights and the count is a bit slower. The ab work is killer also. She starts with lower abs, mid abs and then to the very top of the ab. I've incorporated this into my rotation and will be doing it tomorrow.

As a matter of fact, I just finished doing this workout. I like to do a total body strength training workout interspersed with workouts that isolate various body parts (i.e. the Gym Style workout). This hits everything and I find it's challenging for me and I have been strength training for a while. I had to lower my resistance on some of the exercises, especially the second sets. I love the band as well, it's nice to do something different. The ab/core section (whatever it's called these days) is quite similar to the first section of CoreMax with some variations on the exercises. It is also shorter in length then CoreMax section 1 but no less a killer. I really like the workout!! It suits my exercise personality since I generally do what I'm in the mood for rather than a set rotation. I figure it all works out in the end anyway and I tend not to strength train the same parts of the body on consecutive days. Hope this helps!

I received Muscle Max this week and just finished the work out for the first time. I loved it. It was a challenging total body workout that moves quickly and is easy to follow... much of it a slower gym style work out. Cathy's weight choices were challenging and I had to lighten for the second set of some exercises. The ab section real work! I had considered ordering the Slow and Heavy Series but really prefer getting a total body work out all at once so I chose Muscle Max. I think it's my new favorite...I own most of Cathy's Total Body Strength workouts. I would rate the difficulty as between Power Hour & Maximum Intensity Strength, and more difficult that Supersets. Run in place, march or do jacks to keep you heart rate up between sets and this is also mildly aerobic. I don't have resistence bands yet, so I substituted lighter hand weights. Excellent work Cathy & crew!

P.S. I'm 46 and working hard to keep muscle tone---been doing Cathy for about 2 1/2 years now, The Firm (originaly tapes) before that.

I'm doing it this weekend. I'll report back on Monday!

I've been doing MM. My third time (yesterday) I was able to increase my weights a little on a lot of exercises due to the slower count. I think this is a great total body workout and I like the music. I hope to increase the weight I use a little more the next time I do this.

I will say that this is my new favorite total body workout! I like the pace, the exercises and the evil band! I have done this one twice so far and just really really like it! :) :)

I really like this workout. Cardio is similar to bootcamp. Maybe not as intense. Weights are slower and heavier. I can heavy up on the lower areas and the high rep areas are a great finisher. I did this as the Push & Pull premix today. It did seem a little slower and I will up my weights next time. Less sets on this one. I chose it because of some upper shoulder area discomfort and neck. I think most of it has to do with the bands, for upper body. I have no problem with lower, so chose this as it only uses the band for the triceps kickbacks. I feel better this evening so I think I am on to something. I just need to recoup.

I'm confused here. Muscle Max doesn't have cardio in it, does it?

Diane Sue, I think you might be a little weary from all of the Hardcore workouts you've done! I don't think Muscle Max has any cardio either.

But about that neck tension, I'm feeling it too with some of the band exercises. I'm trying to figure out if I need to get a band with lighter tension for upper body, or just a longer band. I think we use 8' bands in pilates. If you figure out a solution, please share.

You're right it doesn't have cardio in it. I did do the Push Pull one. I was thinking of High Step Challenge. Also I had just done the HC Extreme Circuit as well so I guess I was still thinking of the cardio portions of HSC. Sorry for the confusion. I guess after all of that my brain was a little foggy;-)

I am doing this workout for the second or third time this morning and am lookin forward to it. I also have a gf coming over to do it with me - going to introduce her to the Hardcores.... whaa ha ha... :)

Hi,

I've just used the upper body premix and added the abs. I really like it for a day when I don't have much time and need an upper body workout in an hour. It's quick and gets the job done.

Need advice here ....What length band is the best for this and the others in the Hard Core Series... I ordered a 3 ft on line and it is way too short., some say they use a 6 ft one.
