have them done within acceptable time

tho cathe vids are awesome they are not rocket science i will probably never preorder again they are consistanly very long times before release major motion pictures with several million dollar budgets are done in half the time including music scores

I'm not Cathe

However, I have worked on feature length shows and none of them come close to the volume of work that is included with STS. I worked both on set and in post production. And once upon a time I wrote music too.

uh.......Ok....its not a requirement to pre-order

FYI--this is a multimillion dollar project. If you had any idea what goes into making a series like this you'd be thanking your lucky stars that you get Cathe's superior products at all, much less in your unreasonable & unjustifiably demanding time frame.

P.S. I'd love to see a rocket scientist even ATTEMPT to put something like this together!

Cannot imagine you will get anyone who agrees with you here!! All good things come to those who wait. Cathe's dvd's aren't just good they're GREAT!!! I guess you should stick with someone else then. Good Luck!

no but the putting together exercises and considering reps and sets etc. for the best results of weightlifting IS a science. oh wait let me see exercise physiology, sports medicine etc. YEP all forms of science. i knew this was a HUGE and expensive project which is why i quietly chose not to pre order. it works much better then being abrasive and just plain mean. esp comparing something worthwhile like cathe to something totally not like hollywood blockbusters. :D:D:D

love my cathe's though

Since this is your first post I think you need to know a few things about how we film and produce our DVDs that might change your mind. First, it has only been around 5 months since we finished filming 41 workouts. You mentioned in your post that major motion pictures are done in half this time. Well, I’m not sure where you got your information, but it is totally inaccurate. It usually takes about one to two years to film and produce a major motion picture that is only around 2 hours long, not 2 ½ months. We are also using the same composers that score the music to the motion pictures you’re referring to, but they have to score music to 41 hours of film, not just a two hour motion picture. Also, the average 30 second national commercial you see on TV can easily take over one month to film and edit and that is just for 30 seconds. Sure, you could do it quicker, but quality would suffer.
STS is being produced on the scale of a major motion picture and is being edited by one of the best production studios in the world – NFL Films. There are up to 24 people a day working on this project and like a major movie the costs are also in the millions of dollars.

Even when a company makes just one DVD it usually takes them around 90 days before they have finished product ready to sell. Now, multiply that by 41 workouts and it would take them several years to film and produce 41 DVDs. The only way STS can and will be produced in a much shorter time is that we have a huge company with some of the best people in their profession working on this. NFL Films is one of the few companies I know that could even attempt a project of this magnitude.

It is also important for you to know that “Quality” is the number one concern of our company. We simply spend more time than nearly any other company filming and editing our DVDs. Sure, we could edit a DVD in just one day like probably 95% of the companies selling fitness DVDs do, but the result would not be a product that we would feel good about and would not be up to our standards. In the video business time is money. The cost of just one editor and one standard editing room is at least $350/hour. Most companies edit a DVD in just one day not with the purpose of getting you your product more quickly, but because of budget concerns. It takes us well over 100 hours of editing time just to edit one STS DVD and thus the cost to us is 10 times what most other companies spend. We do this because our product is our passion and we feel a better quality product is always worth the extra expense. We realize that many will say that they just want a workout and don’t care about the extra polish, but we have learned through over 20 years in business that quality usually wins out in the long run and even people who say they don’t care – really do!

it was just a suggestion

don`t be so touchy people. i just would like to see them done sooner than they usually are. preorder was definately my fault . i love cathe vids and they are worth the money, and the wait ,i preordered to show interest and support.
i just don`t like the wait. time next time i will know better . so if you are going to be rude to my posts maybe you should check how rude you are yourself ,defending cathe is no excuse to be rude, as i agree she is awesome as is her work

Now I feel like I'm getting a huge bargain. :)

This is my first pre-order and it is taking awhile, but I'm ok with it. I have plenty of other things to do while I wait.

Taking the movie comparison a little further...if we were able to pre-order the latest action film before it was ever filmed, we'd be waiting a long time for those, too.

No one was anymore rude than the original post.

Agreed.

To the original poster: for future reference, I wouldn't recommend making your first post on a forum being a criticism of the company or their products. I understand you were trying to make a suggestion but you should have worded it differently and more respectfully. Think next time before you start typing away.

SNM,

I wouldn't have given her the time of day:mad:. She's probably a troll anyway. Bless your heart for explaining the details of STS, and how graceful you were about this person. That is awesome!

I usually stay clear of posts such as these, but, hey got to send the trolls away. I guess this time I'm not very graceful. Sorry.

You took the word *troll* right out of my mouth!

please don't give into the pressure to rush the product. there is nothing worse than an exercise dvd with lousy cues and poor production quality.

good point

I used to work films. It would probably take three years if you were waiting for an action film.

Well, I have done video!

Have been involved from start to finish in video production, so I know how long it can take and how tedious it can be. Scripting takes time. Setting up the studio takes time. Checking and fixing the lights. Adjusting the set. Checking camera angles. And shooting takes lots of time (do you really think they shoot a 60-minute workout in 60 minutes?). And then there's post.

Most folks have no idea how loooooonnnnnng post-production can take. Hours and hours of time spent in a darkened post studio, going through the video -- sometimes frame by frame. Takes forever. And then you have to deal with sound issues -- sweetening the sound, re-taping lines that need to be dubbed in, fixing, trying to find the right shot, checking, checking, checking.

Oh, and then there's designing the covers, printing, assembling, shipping ....

And that's for one video with about a 60-minute run-time.

I rest my case. I pre-ordered in January and am willing to wait until December. Gives me plenty of time to do the rest of the Cathe videos that I own -- some of which I've never attempted!

Quality takes time; junk is a lot quicker!
