Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for May 2020

Good morning friends! Yesterday was my rest day #1 for the week. I really like working out 3 days and then 1 day off, workout 3 days, 1 day off. I get too tired by Friday if I workout 5 days in a row. Today I did cardio, TM workout, 60 minutes, 6.5 to 8.0 incline, 31. to 3.3 speed, traveled 3.3 miles and burned 542 calories. Heart rate was 127/169. I was really huffing and puffing on incline 8, I thought my heart rate was a lot higher than 169.

Debbie, nice shoulder workout today and cardio mixed in with it. My old Fitbit works so much better than my new one I just might take the new one back and keep using my older one. Though it doesn't sink with my new phone well, I really don't care, I just use it to workout and I log my states in a book anyway.

Doreen, nice workout today and adding in the step workout you found on youtube.

Belinda, good luck at the doctors and getting the shots in your knees. I never saw any results with Cortisone, what are you having put into your knees? Nice workout today.

Waving hi to Diane Sue, and Roselyn.

Have a wonderful day. Overcast and cool at the beach today. We call this weather June gloom.

Today I did Step Boss Step Sync, 56 minutes, heart rate 118/150, 281 calories, 5,865 steps. My heart rate was staying really low and dropping out for awhile until I shifted my Fitbit over a vein and tightened a bit. It is hard to keep it in position because it has to be toward one side a bit. Odd, because it then jumped from 105 to 132. I don't think it picks up very well. I then did Raw Abs finisher, 20 minutes, used 8 and 10# dumbbell dependant on move, 321 steps, heart rate 93/124. I finished wit Amazon Yoga pain therapy with Lindsey Samper #1 neck pain, 20 minutes, 16 calories, 16 steps. Total time was 96 minutes, 337 calories, 6,202 steps.
I also did 12 minutes of a 15 minute strength and flexibility yoga on the same pain therapy series. I didn't do all of it because it was 27 minutes long. Will save it for another day, but I liked what I did. It was more a regular flow, but I like how she had it put together and she has you doing more stretching with your arms in back and down while in the lunge position and even the chair. I did not have my Fit bit on when I did this one. I am so tired. Started to nod off during the last part of the neck stretch when I was just lying on my belly with my head turned to the side. The neck therapy one I did today is all lying on the floor and interesting moves which are pretty gentle, but really helpful.

Good Evening,

We are in the new house but things still are not finished. I can’t hang my clothes in my closet yet because a shelf needs stained and the barn doors need stained supposed to have a hanging rack in my laundry room not done and we have two garages buy can’t use them. My workout room is almost set up finally got a walk on the treadmill and they hooked internet up today. We have an extra bedroom that still has a lot of their stuff in it including the back slash for the kitchen which means the microwave isn’t installed we just use it on the floor. Now time to concentrate on a new job.

Debbie, 30 seconds isn't too bad for the hiit moves. They don't look complicated and would probably give the legs some work. I prefer having someone I am working with though rather than follow a workout off of paper. It is so frustrating when you sit down to do something that you think will be quick and easy and it ends up being complicated and you have wasted time. I don't know how you get a hold of people like Beach Body to ask questions. So many things are done online and over the phone anymore and is even more aggravating.
Funny, you should mention family. My husband and I were the ones that pushed for the family birthday's since things are opening up. Last night my daughter called and said that my granddaughter who just turned 20 found out her friends boyfriend was exposed to someone who had tested positive for the virus. He tested and showed positive, but none of them are sick and he is not sick. So my granddaughter's friend went and got tested and was negative and went back again to get tested and still negative. My granddaughter tested negative and her boyfriend went and got tested and tested negative. My daughter said they were taking precautions till they are sure everyone is out of the woods on it. Poor girl wanted hibachi for her birthday dinner and they didn't want to go out to a restaurant so ordered and took it home. My other daughter and grandchildren have been stuck in their house pretty much through all of this. She orders her groceries. Although the two little ones are passed back and forth from her to their dad. She bought them here so she could go do the walk through of the new house she is buying before they close. She didn't want to take them with her. I don't worry about it for myself that much. She has not been inside stores and asked me if they were still wearing masks since she had not been in any. My older daughter says us older people do not listen very well and stay in like we should referring to patients of hers and us and her husbands parents who are friends of ours.
Funny about Fitbit as I have terrible stats, it does not make sense that I am not burning much more for calories than I would just doing my basic tasks around the house. I know how many calories I used to burn with all of my other devices and it was not this low. They said something about making the versa so the algorithms work with the watch well, whatever that means. If I run Map My Fitness or the Health Mate app that I got when I got my scale the calories are higher. Map my Fitness says they run on met values, so I had wondered if they gave me higher than my watch because of the Met Values though. I have never been what Met Values are. Even when I do all of the math, that is still higher than my fitbit watch. I do think it depends on how well it is picking up on the blood pumping through the veins. That is why I mentioned when I move my watch slightly over the vein, my heart rate went up on my watch. Just hard to keep it at that point on my arm. The two fingers or inches or whatever above the wrist does not work for me. I thought my Blaze was off, but nothing as low as the Versa is. I have not seen that many complaints about that on Fitbit though. More on other things that work fine for me.

Belinda, my windows are not easy to clean. I didn't realize at first when we moved here that they were double. I had thought I opened the window to let some air in when family was here only to realize when I opened the inner window there was another one on the other side of it. It was kind of hard to get open. I suppose it is good for insulating against cold and stuff. I like the ones Debbie mentioned. I have had those in the past and it is so nice to be able to clean the outside from inside.
My husband just ordered me a new iron that is the same brand as my one that I have had for 14 years and is made in Germany. I told him I am picky about my irons, and the old one was not a cheap one. I just looked and he ordered me the same brand for 100.00 on Amazon. My other one has started getting hot on the cord where it goes into the iron. I hope the shots help your knees. I know the one in my shoulder sure helped get things settled down on that side. I am dealing with the neck on the opposite side and shoulder area. Not ready to let the doctor do an epidural in my neck though. That scares me.

Doreen, nice work on the Hiit and step workouts today.

Jolie, I had to drag myself upstairs this morning to workout. I just knew if I didn't get it done something might come up and I would have to have more time off. Working out tired makes it hard to put your all into a workout. It's either that or I put my all into something and afterward I feel drained. Good for you taking more rest days in between workouts.

Roxie, I hope that you get settled in soon,

Today I did LiiFt 4 Legs 50/50 (whatever that means) and had a pretty good workout. My right knee was really bothering me at first but after I rubbed it and stretched my quad I was ok. Still felt it with certain exercises though.

The last time I did this series my hamstring was pulled really bad and I couldn't do leg work, so that means I've never done the leg workouts in this series. I just followed my sheets and did it like all the others, I'm pretty sure I did it right.

3 sets/10 reps for each Round

Round 1
Squats:
15's
Deadlifts: 20's

Round 2
Sumo Squats:
25#
Back Lunge: 15's (I did static lunges)

Round 3
Hip Bridge:
30# barbell
Calf Raises: 20's (I did 30 reps)

Abs - 3 sets/20 seconds each
Crunches
Elbow Planks

Workout was 38 minutes, burned 175 calories, HR was 102/154.

Then for the cardio part of the workout I did Max 10 Minute Peak Burn w/Amy Dixon and had an excellent workout. I can go really fast with this thing now and although I still get really winded, it doesn't kill me like it used to.

My stats are not right, though, this FB is pissing me off. Workout was 14 minutes, burned 76 calories (MT said 122), went .31 miles and did 863 steps. HR was 113/140 which is total BS. Every time I looked at it it said my HR was at 90 or lower. WTF? My HR skyrocketed with this workout. I think I'm going to go on the forums and complain. Not that it will do any good.

Also walked on my treadmill for 22 minutes, burned 140 calories, went 1.07 miles and did 2643 steps. HR was 118/127.

Belinda - Hope all goes well today with your knees. Sorry you have to do that every now and again. I don't know what the name of our windows are. I think we ordered them through Lowes or some place like that. They are double paned windows, slide up and down and can be cleaned by pulling the windows inside. At least they made it easy to clean them. Nice job with your shoulder workout yesterday. Do you know if you can purchase LiiFT 4 as DVD's? I would actually consider doing that since I love this series so much. I really don't feel like I'm getting a good of a workout as I would watching the instructor and crew. Thanks for telling me what that shoulder exercise was, I'll have to remember that for next time. I love the arches that Cathe does, those are killer. My shoulders are really sore today. The timer I'm using is just called "Interval Timer".

Doreen - Good job with your workouts yesterday!

Jolie - Great job on your cardio workout yesterday. Yep, my Ionic worked much better than this Versa. I love the Versa and how it looks, though. The Ionic is so manly looking and boxy.

Diane - I am having the same exact issue as you are with my FB. I will go onto the forum page and complain but I doubt it will do any good. What is it with these updates? Why do they change what they are reading? So annoying. I'm about ready to get rid of FB and buy another brand and see if it's any better. Ridiculous. Nice job on your workouts, I really need to try those stretching workouts you are doing. I wish I made it a priority to make time to do them. I have no reason right now not too, I just don't do it. My mom just asked me last night if she could to grocery shopping next week with me or my brother and I said, that is a big no. Not yet. Our church is opened and I'm worried about her going there. I'm not sure when I will start taking her back to church again, maybe in a week or two. I'm still waiting to see if cases rise with us opening Ohio again. Your daughter is right, though, older people do not want to stay home. LOL! My mom thinks she's invincible.

Roxie - Hope you get stuff unpacked and set up quickly, that is a pain to live out of boxes. Are you renting or did you buy this house?

Have a great Friday everyone! We are getting storms this afternoon and then it's supposed to get cooler. I'm glad, it's been really hot and humid here, so unusual for this time of year.

Debbie - you can't get Lift 4 on DVD. BB stopped producing dvd, it's all streaming these day's. You still can find some of the older programs on dvd's. Once they gone they are gone. Are you going to sign up for 3 month on BB? BTW, they the shoulder fly you will do again in Week 2. What is arches? Do you mean T pull (I think that's what they are called?)? Thanks about the info on the windows. I will check them out. Probably cheaper than the European ones. As long as I can clean my windows without climbing up on a ladder. Great job on your workout today.

Diane - if we stay in our house I defiantly will change out the windows. It's dangerous to climb on a ladder to reach the second floor windows from the outside. I am afraid we get hurt one day. I will look into the windows this weekend. DH and I are not sure if we stay in this area? We shall see. That's a lot of $$ for an iron. Must be a good one. What is the name of your iron? Is it a Rowenta? I am so glad I can buy a lot of European products in the US.

Just a quick 30 minute Metcon Hiit this morning on Sweat Factor app. I didn't love it but didn't hate it either except she started with v-ups and we all know what I think about core work....

Quick check in. Today I did Cathe Live # 136 Upper Body Challenge with the Ball and had a great workout. I felt really strong and lifted heavier than usual. My Fitbit died half way through the workout so I have no idea about my calorie burn. I am sick of this thing. I took my new one back and I just might get a cheap calorie counter off Amazon for $30. I am only interested in my calorie burn and heart rate, I don't use anything else on the darn thing.

Great workouts everyone! I will BBL to read your posts, running late for an appointment.

Jolie - sorry I didn't see you post this morning. Yes, it was Cortisone shots in both my knees. My doctor was going to sent me to a specialist for my knees. If the cortisone shots don't help in a few day's he wants me to contact him again. Sorry it didn't help you.

Today I did Strong and Sweaty Bootcamp, 47 minutes, heart rate 113/142 heart rate , 171 calories, 1,896 steps. I then did Strong and Sweaty Cardio Slam timesaver floor cardio only skipping the warm up, 21 minutes, 91 calories, heart rate 114/146, 1,612 steps. I finished with Lindsey Samper yoga doing the chair yoga she had which was 10 minutes and finishing the rest of the strength and flexibility one that I started yesterday. The yoga was 27 minutes, 32 calories, 90 steps. Total time was 96 minutes, 294 calories, 3,598 steps.
I am sure my heart rate had to be higher than that for what I was doing. Granted there is wops for weight work during Bootcamp. I checked and when I did that one with the blaze my calorie burn was 319. I didn't get that with all of the workouts combined.

Debbie, I am sure you should have had higher numbers than that. I need to check out the forums at Fitbit and see if there are comments on this latest update. It is weird how the Versa 2 started out wonderful and the first update they did just seemed to make everything drop. It hasn't got better since. I don't know about invincible, but most of us are stubborn about our lives and our freedoms. The ladies from my group get together were texting today and there are a couple who just cannot go out. One has been going through getting infusions trying to normalize her platelets she said they were 60 one week and over 200 hundred this week and the only time she has been out of the house if for the doctor. Another is having problems also, and one is getting ready for hip replacement. They range from 50's to 80's. I told my husband it was a bit worrisome when the usual older ladies are no longer seem to be at work in Sprouts. One was in the exit, writing down people leaving the store on her clipboard with her mask on. Those young people sure do not bag groceries well. They have had pretty much the same staff since they opened. I can imagine that your mother would love to get out of the house and do something normal.

Belinda, good luck with our doctor appointment. I hope the shots help you a lot. Yes the iron is a Rowenta. I looks like a really nice one. It arrived today. I really liked the old one and they are made well. It says you should use tap water in it only. No special water. It cleans the calc out of it. I think the only way to clean outside windows on the upper floor is hire someone or get a sprayer that is meant to clean windows. I don't know how good of a job they do. I remember seeing them do it on an infomercial and thought I should check it out.

Doreen, nice work even if you did not love the workout. I would have been happy to start with core work :)

Jolie, did you get a new Fitbit? I saw that the Withings make watches and heart rate monitors. This is the company that made my Wifi scale. You might check them out on Amazon. It used to be Nokia which makes me think of cameras for some reason. The scale has lots of features and with the App that I use with the scale it picks up on whatever you want it to monitor. I like to have steps. I think I would miss the extra things on my Fitbit.

Roxie, nice that you got a workout fit in. Hope the move has went well.

This morning was Cardio and I walked on my TM for 65 minutes, 6.5 to 8.0 incline, 3.1 to 3.3 speed, traveled 3.4 miles and burned 606 calories.

Diane Sue, Actually Nokia is a telecom company that I worked for 18 years, how funny. I will look into it because they made the best cell phones so their watches should be great too! Nice workout yesterday, it looks like everyone is feeling better and our bodies are holding up too! :)

Belinda, how are your knees today?

Roxie, nice workout yesterday! Good luck unpacking!

Roselyn, I may do an Yvette workout tomorrow or one similar to it by Cathe.

BBL to read your posts. BTW, my weight is finally starting to go done, slowly but surely which makes me happy :)

Have a wonderful day.

This morning I did Raw Box and Tone, 29 minutes, heart rate 129/158, 152 calories, 2,493. Yoga Therapy Lindsey Samper, workout 8 for neck and some lower stretching added, 20 minutes, 18 calories, heart rate 70/90, 15 steps. Total time was 47 minutes, 160 calories, 2508 steps.

Today my son and I went for a bike ride. We did the Ladders and Chutes trails. Ladders is a series of switchbacks up the mountain and then Chutes is a fast ride back down. Took us about an hour because he had to keep stopping to wait for me to catch up! LOL! Its about a 600 ft elevation gain. Hard workout up and fun ride back down!

Jolie here is one of the Withings Nokia watches https://www.amazon.com/Nokia-Steel-...hings+smart+watch&qid=1590864884&sr=8-13&th=1
They also have the ones that look more like the Fit bit narrow band type watches and some specialty ones. I would be interested if I hadn't just got the Fit Bit in December. That is interesting about Nokia. I know we had some Nokia product which I thought was a camera. Not sure what it was, but know it was a good product.

Roxie, have fun with your nephew visiting. I am not a dancer either. It has to be pretty much nothing complicated and I still feel like a stiff board trying to get through the movements.

Hi everyone,

I was feeling fine after the cortisone shots. DH and I tried to go for a walk last night. I hardly could walk I was in so much pain, I think we only went for a 1/4 mile. A few hours later I was in so much pain, I hardly could move my knees they kept locking up. I had a hard time walking 5 steps without being in tears. I iced, elevated my knees last night. That seems to work. Today I decided not to push it today, I ended up taking a complete rest day. My knees feel so much better today, still swollen but hardly any pain. I have no problem walking today around the house.I will try to do a lower body stretch tomorrow, noting to crazy.

Jolie - thank you. Hopefully the cortisone shots will work. Boy, was I in a lot of pain last night. My knees were killing me. You are killing your workouts lately. Keep it up.I have a Apple watch and love it.

Diane - I have a Rowenta too. Love Rowenta, they been around for a long time. I have my for years too. Very good quality. I still have a lot of German appliances I bought when we lived in Germany. Most of mine are 110/220 Volt. In Germany we use 220 Volt, we lived on base. They had 110 and 220 Volt outlets in every room which was very nice. I tried to hire someone to clean my windows especially the ones I can't reach they wanted over $1000. I have over large 28 windows. It would be cheaper to buy windows that I clean myself. No cleaning team cleans like me anyway, lol. We hired a painter to paint our house when my husband needed a hip replacement. I charged us over $13000 in 2012 for over a 4000 square feet home. I had to fire him after 2 day's. I marked some spots on the walls he claimed he painted the rooms upstairs. Since we picked the same color the old owner of the house picked, he thought he could pull a quick one on us. After realizing he was spot painting my bedroom (he started in the bedroom) I watched him after he claimed he painted my walk in clothed. Before he came and started painting I lightly marked a few spots on the walls with a pencil. I had a bad feeling when he showed up smelling like alcohol on his breath. He was looking around to make sure he got everything the next day. I was very suspicious about him. That is way I marked a few walls before he started painting. The second day I actually stayed in the bedroom watched him painting. Remember he didn't know at this point that I marked all the walls. He didn't say a word to me the entire day. I was very polite. That same day I showed DH (he knew I marked the walls) that the marks were still there. The next day we came to the house asking to talk to my husband alone. He said to my husband here in the US it's not common to watch it may be common in Germany :) I was pissed. He also ask DH to make me stay out. DH advised him I am the homeowner and I pay him. We also pointed out the only spot paints instead of painting the master bedroom, sitting room, walk in closet and master bathroom. So DH explained to him why I decided to watch him. He couldn't deny it. DH and I fired him that day. We only payed him for the paint which we thought is was fair. We ended up painting. DH and I do all our painting ourself. I had a pluming problem in my guest bathroom. Well, after cleaning the toilet I put the cleaning bottle next to the sink, the plastic cap pooped into the toilet while I was flushing the toilet. The toilet wasn't flushing anymore. Instead of getting a plumper to the house (we did call never got a call back until 2 day's later) DH fixed it. Took him 2 day's, with 2 trips to Home Depot. He watched some YT videos. Toilet is flushing like new. Plus, I didn't wanted anyone in the house with the virus going around.

See you all tomorrow.
