Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for July 2021

Today I woke up with shoulder, neck and low back hurting for no apparent reason. I was pleased as I felt pretty good yesterday all day and that strength workout Saturday did not bother me. Maybe it was because yesterday was a day off and no stretching or extra movement.
Today I did CDorner Step Aerobics #88 Disco, 60 minutes, heart rate 135/169, 5,087 steps. I then did CDorner Upper body and neck stretch 26 calories, and Cathe Perfect 30 Flow timesaver strength and flexibility, 18 minutes, 30 calories. Total time was 96 minutes, 360 calories. I also did some foam rolling from CD's hips and shoulder. I did not count that one.

Belinda, nice work on the walk and day 36 SB.

Jolie, good job on CL Upper Body with the ball. I love doing ab work, but tried one this morning with a ball from CD and it was too much of me holding my head up off the floor so I stopped. I have to support my neck if there is very much of hands over head or reaching. I don't know much about C sections as my three came without that, but I hate that they cut me vertically for a hysterectomy when I had cancer. From my understanding they do not make that kind of cut anymore.
I try to get ab work in every week, I just have to modify.

Been really busy at home, we are trenching from our garage to a drain because we are getting really bad flooding here. Wow, what a workout that was!! I love doing manual labor like that, it's hard work but I enjoy it for some weird reason.

Great workouts everyone, been keeping up with your posts!

Diane - I hope your neck and shoulders are feeling better!!

Have a great day!

Today I went for a 4 mile walk in the hills, 77 minutes, burned 729 calories and my heart rate was 140/180. It is hot and humid again today and it really was hard to walk that far up hills in the heat. I need to start getting out earlier if possible, I just have so much to do in the mornings.

Debbie, I love hard labor too! I could shovel horse stalls all day long, that was my job when I was a teenager and I was in the best shape of my life from doing that and moving hay bales onto a tracker to feel 100 horses every day and night.

Diane Sue, I hope your shoulder and neck area are feeling better today. I get that because I am a side sleeper and it is hard on my shoulder and arm sometimes.

I hope you all have great workouts today!

Hi everyone,

DH and I walked before my appointment this morning.

Both my knees are grinding from the arthritis in my knees. The surgeon and I agreed not to do surgery until I can't take the pain anymore. He did that with my DH's knee too. The doc wanted DH to go until he couldn't walk anymore. Knee surgery is one of the worst surgery. The doc said my knees are bad. I am too young for knee replacements. The doc also thinks my arthritis has something to do with RP. Which surprised me a little. My Rheumalogist doesn't think my arthritis has anything to do with my knees. I started having knee problems when I was still running. My knees hurt every time I went from a long run. I have to keep everything low impact and modify the heck out of my workouts even more. The surgeon also showed me more LB modify exercises I can do without further hurting my knees further. Walking doesn't hurt my knees unless I walk over hour. The doc wants me to continue with walking. At one point I need both knees done. Hopefully not anything soon. My husband knee is still very swollen. The surgeon wants to see me again in a few month and see how I am doing. If I get to a point where I can't walk anymore he wants to see me right away. I have a lot of swelling daily. Since the shots didn't do anything for my knees or the swelling he recommends just icing. I been icing my shoulder/neck and my knees daily.

Funny, I just read on The China Study about arthritis and animal proteins. Makes a lot of sense.

Debbie - I am so sorry to hear about the flooding. Glad you liked and got a good workout in.

Roselyn - good job today.

Diane - hope your neck and shoulder is feeling better today. Great job yesterday.

Jolie - great job on the that walk. I walk early in the morning before 7 am. It's getting to hot to walk any later.

Good night.

Good morning,

Walk outside is done. It's getting hot outside.

Have an appointment with the PT shortly. I also should get my x ray results.

I will be back later.

Today is my rest day. I am tired today, poor sleep because it is very hot and humid and my husband hates to sleep with the air conditioner on! Well, I may have to over rule this decision tonight!!!

Belinda, wow on the knees, that is a bummer if you have to have them replaced! Have you ever tried Prolotherapy? They inject stem cells into your knee and the healing begins. I have had it done so many times on my back and it really worked great, the only problem is, it is expensive. A lot of athletes do this type of therapy because the results are unbelievable. Nice job getting the walk done early today. Good luck at your Pt appointment today.

Diane, I hope your neck and shoulder area are better today. Is it from sleeping?

BBL to read your posts for the day.

Got the results from my neck X-rays. I have advanced diffused osteopenia in my neck (C5 and C6). My PT said it's hard to diagnose on how severe it is unless I get a bone mineral density test done. I am very bummed about the results. My PT thinks the C5 and C6 pinching a nerve which is running down my arm. I already have an appointment with my doctor scheduled for tomorrow.

Jolie - I will hold off surgery as long as I can. I will look into the stem cell therapy. I have to be carful with RP, I have to run it by my rheumatologist. Thanks for the info. I will try anything before I get surgery.

I am going to relax a little than I will do SBF.

No workout today. It took me an hour and 10 minutes to get to my arthritis doctor and the wait was so long. Parking was difficult as they had so many people there. It is annoying that they have two bathrooms each for one person all genders and one is by the pharmacy and one the other waiting area. I made sure not to drink any water this morning and still needed to use it because the wait was an hour and I still had the drive back home :( I hate public bathrooms anyway, but that is crazy since they have their infusion area, labs, radiology where they do mri, x-rays etc.. Convenient except the bathrooms. People come from out of tow to use this center. Anyway, he thinks the way my right shoulder moves and the pain areas that it may be a rotator cuff issue. We agreed I would wait and see how the steroid injection goes and I go back in 3 months:rolleyes: (usually 6 months) because he may want to do another mri, since it has been 2 years, so he can see what is going on. I told him that hurt and I was not wanting to do. I never had an mri hurt till I got the neck and shoulder ones done before. The angle for that length of time with no movement was terribly painful. Also the drive back from thee would be that much more unpleasant.
I don't know why, but my blood pressure and all of that has been really in a good area at the pulmonolgist and the arthritis center. Usually it goes up just because of stress. Maybe eating even more veggie dishes has helped. I definitely have not lowered caffeine as I looked up the Chameleon cold brew caffeine stats and using that and my hot cup of strong coffee in the morning along with kombucha tea is quite a bit.
I have been losing sleep with this stupid shoulder and arm. No comfortable position. The doctor wanted to know if it was because I was lying on it and I told him not. Even lying on my back with arms straight down is painful. My elbow hurts as well. Driving is miserable and I use my left arm to get things out of my cabinets when I have to reach up. So something is definitely not right. Also I need to put on some weight somehow. I was 108 this morning and feel I look silly in my sleeveless clothes.
Oh, and yesterday I did a few minutes of CDorner No Jumping Cardio Sweatfest low impact, 25 minutes, heart rate 139/181, 135 calories, 2,408 steps.
Okay I am done with the negativity, positive on the the blood pressure, and another thought hit me when I was feeling annoyed with all of the big trucks, then thought that is probably a good thing because maybe our products are finally hitting the stores.

Debbie, I think that manual labor feels good and you get the satisfaction of seeing the finished product. I like yard work except for the allergies. My neck has been somewhat better lately for the most part. I have been working on those crazy traps and doing CDorners hips and upper body foam roller workout(mostly the upper which takes around 15 minutes) along with her upper stretching and my usual PT and it is really helping relieve the neck because those swollen places and knots are not so bad on the trap area. I also got back out my keyboard to use instead of typing on my elevated laptop and that takes some of the stress off the neck and shoulders. I was using the keyboard in one of the workout rooms with the all in one computer and moved it back. I just need to get myself another keyboard.

Jolie, nice work on the walk yesterday and the calorie burn. I prefer sleeping on my side, but it really bothers my neck and shoulders. I wake up in more pain. I adjust with pillows, but it is just leaves me in more pain most of the time. Usually it wakes me up not long after I unintentionally end up on my side. I think my problem is the arthritis. A lot of those optional treatments are not covered by insurance as far as I know. Insurance companies tend to expect the cheaper alternative first before paying for other procedures. They did dry needling in PT on me, but I did not notice any relief. I remember Dr Axe talking about prolotherapy and stem cells.

Belinda, I am sorry the results are like that. They have not done a dexa scan on me in quite a few years. The last mri showed C5,C6,and C7 forminal stenosis, narrowing hypertrophy. Some other prognosis stuff is on my medical list. So many names and I have read everything I can on all of it. Afraid of an epidural in my neck after watching a video and reading what side effects could happen. My heart and prayers go out for you daily. I kept worrying about all of the pulling and twisting the PT did on my neck and head, that something bad was going to happen. It didn't though as far as I know. I think that you must have a pretty good PT from the sounds of it. I keep thinking maybe I should be looking for rheumatologist nearer to me. I did a search on my cell while waiting and there is not much this way for specialists. An hour drive is long for me and now family is all nearer where I need to go than I am and would be a lot to ask for help. My husband sleeps during the day for work so I try to leave him out of it. I have two nerve things running down arms, but the left is different and is mostly across the shoulder and along the back of my neck and tends to sting and crawl. Relieved by pressing my shoulders back and down. Right is from the front of the shoulder, some in the neck and down across the elbow, forearm, and wrist and my hand sometimes gets some tingling sensation. Really unpleasant.

Having a great time on vacation. Me and DH went to Marblehead Lakeside yesterday, today I am spending the day with my mom and cousin and we are going out for lunch. I am still very active this week so I don't feel like I'm missing out on my workouts and I've been staying on my eating plan mostly.

Diane and Belinda - So sorry to hear you girls are in such pain right now. I sure hope this passes. Belinda, that is scary about your neck, I hope they can do something for you. Diane, that is odd how all of a sudden you are in pain again. I hope you feel better soon. I am doing ok, just a bit sore from all the shoveling we did early in the week. I was afraid all my knots would come back but so far it's just soreness.

Happy 31st anniversay Roselyn! That is awesome!!

Jolie - I can't believe your husband hates sleeping with the A/C on. That's so weird. LOL!!!

Have a great day everyone! Great job with all your workouts!!!

Hi everyone,

I walked with DH early this morning.

Thanks everyone! I am ok! I was a little shocked yesterday by the results. After talking to my kids about it and searching on the John A. McDougall website. I feel a lot better. What I learned is that as we age we lose bone density. I talked to my doctor a while ago, he ordered a bone density test. I will get it done at Walter Reed. He also supscribed Vitamin D + calcium. I have to get some blood test done tomorrow or today. I will pick it up at the same time. I read through this article and it made me feel better to know what to do and not.https://www.drmcdougall.com/articles/common-health-problems/osteoporosis/

Debbie - thank you! I honestly thought it was my biceps. Now I know what is wrong. I probably will follow the advice from Dr. McDougall. I just don't get the vitamins D? I am outside a lot. Glad you have fun on vacation. Enjoy! I am ready for one too.

Roselyn - thank you! Happy Anniversary! That's fantastic!

Diane - I am praying for you too. I am so sorry you are still in so much pain. I do have some strain in my neck, I thought it would be from the pain in my bicep. Weird, how it's the opposite? I am not going to drive my self crazy about the results from the x rays. I will stay positive and live a healthy life. That's all I can do. I hope you feel better soon. My PT is on base, he is pretty good. So are all my doctors. They all take pretty good care of me. I do get the tingling in down my left arm. Feel better soon. I would look into a good rheumatologist. I don't mind driving to WR which is over an hour for us. I always stop at the shopping center on base.

I still have to get my stretches in. My PT gave me a lot of stretches for my neck, lol. Should count as a workout, lol

Today I went for a 4.2 mile walk outside, 1 hour and 20 minutes, burned 778 calories and my heart rate was 139/180. I went up a lot of long hills today, I would say that 65% of my walk was uphill. Our air conditioner went out yesterday, I mean out like died!! We had a company come in and give us an estimate on a new one, approximately $11,000! Thank goodness we have a home warranty, it will cover at least half of the cost. The problem is, it is getting really hot here so I might have to buy a portable one to use for sleeping till we can get the new one installed. I swear, it is always something right!

Debbie, have fun at lunch today with your mom and cousin. I can't find Roselyn's posts, how do I fix that issue again? You helped me with this before. Thanks

Belinda, wow you are getting it from every direction lately!!! I hate everything that comes with aging... :(

Diane Sue, boy, you are getting it from every direction too!!! Hang in there, I know you will get to the bottom of your issues, it is so horrible to be in pain. I hope you slept better last night!

Roselyn, happy anniversary!!! Congrats, that is a huge accomplishment!

Have a nice day, I will BBL to read your posts for the day after mine.

Today I did CDorner Hip Hop Cardio Dane, 53 minutes, 144/167 heart rate, 314 calories, 4,293 steps. I also did the upper and part of the hip section of CDorner foam roller this morning and a couple of the PT exercises for rotator cuff. I had to get done early so I could go to Walmart and get that over with. I think the lidocaine helped for awhile, but I had a hard time falling asleep, fell asleep and had some goofy dream where a couple of the regulars on the Greg Guittfield show were here. Then I woke up and kept fighting to go back to sleep and my shoulder was getting achy. I slept 5 hours. I stayed up late researching supplements since some of mine or running out, and reading on things to do to boost up immunity as my white count is way down. I need to get rid of inflammation. I guess my mind was crazy busy. My watch gave me a zero for deep sleep last night.

Debbie, going to lunch sounds fun. It sounds like you are having a nice break. I am glad that your knots have not come back. I read that the steroid takes a few days to really work.

Roselyn, Happy Anniversary. That is a long time.

Belinda, it doesn't help to worry I guess. I just want to know the best natural protocol over meds and needles. I will have to look at your link. Have you researched vitamin D. I think some people can take too much if they do not need it. I started back to taking some bone health formula from New Chapter that has D and K2 and Calcium along with boswella in it. I only take 2 of the 3 recommended capsules since I take a D and K2 supplement. I had pretty much quit the calcium with the research that I have read worried me a bit and causing artery plaque? But, when I look at MFP I am seriously low on calcium as I do not eat dairy. My macadamia milk and yogurt has some, but not enough I guess. I am trying to pay attention to potassium as well because that is always way low since I do not use salt much. So, hydration drinks and certain vegetables are helping bring it up some. I told my husband that the only problem with getting another doctor is for tests they would probably have to send me to some other medical facility where as the Arthritis Center has pretty much everything there. I had my bloodwork done yesterday. I always think I could stop at Sprouts and some of my old shopping places when I am that way, but end up wanting to get home to avoid traffic.

Jolie, those air units are really expensive and we had two old ones at our other house. My daughter has 3 and they replaced two and are waiting to do the other one. It is too hot to sleep without air.
Great job on the walk today.

Diane - I have read up on calcium, Vitamin D. Dr. McDouglle doesn't recommend taking it. I posted the link. Also in The China Study it's not recommended. People bones are brittle with too much calcium which most people already getting with milk, cheese and meat. He recommends for vitamin D to go outside for 15-20 min. I will get the bone density test just to see what it's showing. I do believe I can get all my vitamins with a plant based diet. Read the article pretty interesting.

Debbie, thanks, I was ignoring her!!!

Today my husband and I went for a 5 mile walk at the beach, 1 hour and 45 minutes and I burned 889 calories. We went out a bit to late and boy was it hot! We walked for awhile at the waters edge and it was so cool and breezy. My heart rate was 134/178. Walking on a sand path is great for the calf muscles.

Diane Sue, I am so glad you could workout yesterday. I hope you got into a deep sleep last night and your shoulder settled down a bit too.

Belinda, in my experience, when a doctor tells you to not take vitamins, it is because they themselves do not believe in them or even understand how they effect the structure and function of the human body. I would speak with a natural path doctor and I bet you that they will get to the bottom of your deficiency and that is most likely contributing to your auto immune disorder. That is my opinion of coarse, I am most certainly not telling you what to do.

Make it a great Friday!!!
