Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for August 2023

Cathlete
Good morning,

I did my PT exercises before my appointment. I will do BP Chest when I get home and hopefully get a walk in today.

Debbie - great job on your STS workout yesterday. Why did you get rid of your bench with the BB holder? I use mine constantly.

Diane - great job yesterday as well. I have to back off a little with my PT exercises, doing them every day is backfiring doing them daily. I will take a day off from PT tomorrow.

I will be back later. Have a wonderful day and workout.

This morning I had a kick ass workout, or I should say, workouts! I started with RAW Kickboxing which was 34 minutes I think, really fun and only my 2nd time doing it. I used my 1.5# egg weights, and I burned 336 calories with this one. Then I did RAW Heavy Bag Finisher, which was 11 minutes and I burned 45 calories with that one. Love that workout. Then I did Pure Strength Back & Bi's Abs and that was about 10 minutes and then I did PS Stretch. Had a great workout!!

Total workout time was 68 minutes, burned 445 calories, did 4282 steps an HR was 128/186.

Belinda - The weight bench I had was HUGE and took up a lot of room. Then I got injured with my shoulder and neck issues and figured I'd never be able to lift heavy as I did (which I really can't anymore). But it would be helpful to have the barbell stand so I can do at least 50# presses. I might just get a simple barbell stand setup without the bench if there is such a thing. We'll see. Once I go back to work I'll be in pain again so I'm not holding my breath. Have a great workout today and good luck with your appointment this morning!

Jolie - Good luck with your derm appointment. Hope all goes well!!

Roxie - Good job getting in workouts again!! I hate workouts with sliders as well, I just don't care to use those things. Glad you are back!!

Diane - Great job with your workout! You did GREAT with the 12 week STS program, I am so glad you didn't get injured or anything. Gives me hope to maybe buy the series, or some of them, to do. I really want the one body part workouts for sure. I had fun with my sister-in-law, she's funny and makes me laugh all the time.

Cam - Where are you? Please check in and let us know you are ok.

Have a great day everyone!!

Debbie - I have freestanding rack stands (if that makes sense). They are separate units that I set up on either side of my bench when I want them. If not - I just move them off to the side. I'm not at home but I'll look up the brand of them for you.

I did Katami 4x4 Change 1 workout today. 4 blocks of 4 exercises repeated 2x through. Cardio, lower body, upper body, abs. The standard "full body" idea. But he's a nice instructor so probably worth the $15 I spent on the set.

Today's workout was a 1 hour 6 minute walk with the pup, traveled 3.5 miles and burned 591 calories. My husband now has to be at work earlier for a meeting everyday during the week so I have to walk the dog 5 days per week. With that said, I will have to just do weights after the walk and maybe do a slightly shorter walk so I am not half dead to lift weights. Anyway, I will be getting in some good workouts everyday. My husband can walk the pup on the weekends because he does not have to be in so early on Saturday's.

Debbie, great job on the workout today, that was a good one! I got rid of my BB stand too when I moved 4 years ago, I just was not using the BB as much anymore because Cathe stopped using them in her workouts. I also stopped doing BB squats so there was no need for the stand anymore.

Doreen, welcome back from vacation!

Roxie, great job on the workout today.

Off to the Dermatologist, I will check back in later in the day. I hope you all have great workouts today. Humid and overcast here today, 86% humidity in so Cal!

I did Body Parts Chest plus bonus followed by a nice long stretch.

Debbie - my weight bench takes up a lot of room too. Although I don‘t lift what I used too, I still use my weight bench quit a bit lately. Maybe invest in Cathe‘s Fit tower or something smaller, makes it easier to get that BB up. Great job on your workout.

Diane - nice job on the mish mosh workout today. I haven‘t played around with the premixes yet.

Great job on your workouts everyone.

Debbie, great workout today. I like the mix of work you did. Like Belinda mentioned the Fit Tower works for a stand. I am not sure if they still sell it though. I really have not looked. I have hardly used mine for a barbell stand. I used it when I got the Total Body workout with the Fit Tower purchase. Right now I have it apart in my workout room and have been setting it up when I do a workout that I want to use it for. Like the new ones. I did not do the 12 week rotation. I did the 8 week which I started after doing all of the body part workout no repeat mixes while I was waiting for the worksheets and stuff. So, I guess that would be 9 weeks or so. I am still using them. Do you know if Kelly's new workouts are going to be up on her streaming channel? I almost purchased them as dvds. But decided to wait and see.
We got rid of our weight bench and stand when we moved.

Belinda, nice job on Body Parts Chest plus bonus and long stretch. I started looking at the premixes to decide where I want to go with my workouts next.

Doreen, nice work on Katami 4x4 change workout.

Jolie, nice long walk again with the dog.

Roselyn, nice job on Iron Back/Biceps. It seems like we just got through all of the cold wet weather and summer was really short. I like summer so much better than winter.

Good Morning,

Praying it will cool down one of these days. I did Sure Thing EMOM today high endurance straight weight training with two EMOM‘s in the middle for 5 minutes not a bad workout there just is any stretching in these workouts so my lower back is screaming

Today I had a really good workout doing STS Meso 2, Back & Biceps, Disc 15. This one was ok but I didn't like all the chinups in the workout. I used my band and did pull downs from my doorway. Worked out good but the band I used wasn't really difficult to pull back.

1 minute rest between each set

BACK
Warmup with Lat pulldowns, T-Pull and Y's
Wide Grip Chin Ups: Used band - 12 reps
Wide Grip Pullups: Used band - 12 reps
Close Grip Chin Ups: Used band - 12 reps
One Arm Dumbbell Row: 20# - 12/10 reps 25#/8 reps
To failure set - 25# - 14 reps
Barbell Rows: 30# - 12 reps; 35# - 10/8 reps
To failure set - 35# - 12 reps
Barbell Deadlifts: 30# - 12/10 reps
To failure set - 12 reps

BICEPS
Barbell Curls: 25# - 12/10/8 reps
To failure set: 12 reps
Seated Alternate Dumbbell Curls: 15's - 12/10 reps
To failure set: 9 reps
Barbell Preacher Curls: (I did Hammer Curls) - 15's - 12/10 reps
To failure set: 10 reps

I don't like doing preacher curls because they really hurt my elbow.

Workout was 57 minutes, burned 351 calories. HR was 115/148.

I also did a workout on my Max Trainer, I did Max Mix Cardio which was 14 minutes, burned 106 calories, did 520 steps and HR was 122/143. This one had alternate 5 and 10 second sprints with 60 second recovery between sprints. Fun but tough!!

Doreen - That would be great, thanks! I haven't even looked yet but if you can give me a brand name, I will check it out.

Jolie - Yes, that is why I got rid of mine. I figured I'd never be able to lift like before. But I do enjoy doing barbell presses now and then and it's hard when you have to hoist up over 40# and get into position. I'll see what I find, I really don't need anymore equipment in my gym room. Good job on your walk!!

Belinda - Great job on your workout yesterday! I checked for the Fit Tower, doesn't look like Cathe sells it anymore. Must not have been a popular item to sell.

Roselyn - I know where did July go? Where did summer go? Yikes!!

Diane - I just checked for the Fit Tower and it doesn't look like Cathe sells it anymore. I'll find something. I'm not sure how often I will be using my barbell, but it is fun to use here and there. I just don't want to hurt myself. Great workout yesterday, that one looked really good. I don't know when Kelly's new workouts will be posted, it doesn't look like she's in a big hurry to put them on there. Probably trying to squeeze out a few more sales. I wish she'd post some weight workouts that are just weights, I'm not very interested in some of the stuff she has been doing on RAW lately.

Roxie - It's cold again here, I am wearing long pants!! Supposed to get a bit warmer later one. Weird weather we are having this summer. Great job with your workout!

Have a great day everyone!!

I did KCM Boxfit this morning. Feeling my cardio is a bit down now because I've been getting winded easily!

Today it is so humid again, when will it go away! Today's workout was another walk outside, 1 hour 16 minutes, traveled 4 miles and burned 721 calories. I am short on time today so I will hopefully get in some weight work tomorrow after the dog walk. My Dermatologist appointment went well yesterday. The doctor said I have really good skin, just a lot of sun damage which is expected in CA. No signs of any abnormalities so I am happy about that! She told me to come back in a few years just for a look over and to keep covering up while in the sun.

Debbie, great job on the STS Back and Biceps workout. I find that the BB hurts my elbows. I used to be able to curl 40# now I am at 25#s!!! My strength has gone down so much over the past ten years.

Diane Sue, great workout yesterday! Those seem like a lot of exercises. Are the workouts as long as the original STS? My gym room is so packed with equipment I can barely move around in it to lift weights LOL! My elliptical and TM take up a lot of room and so does my cable machine.

Doreen, my cardio endurance is down right now as well. Good job on the workout yesterday. I am going to start some kickboxing as soon as the weather gets cooler.

Roselyn, nice job on the weight workout yesterday. I cannot believe we are in August already! The holidays are right around the corner again.

Roxie, great job on getting a workout in yesterday.

Today I did Coffey Fit Raw Kickboxing 33 minutes, 148 calories, heart rate 121-150, 2,869 steps. I then did Coffey Fit Raw Box for your waistline, 32 minutes, 176 calories, 136/166 heart rate, 1037 steps. I finished with STS 2 mobility # 2, 17 minutes, 30 calories. Total time was 82 minutes, 354 calories, 4,173 steps.
I went to the workout manager and wrote down the moves for mish mosh #2 on Triceps and chest and then on shoulders and legs. It should save me time as I had to look over the work sheets to find the particular moves used.

Roxie, nice job on Sure thing EMOM today.

Debbie, great job on STS meso 2 back and biceps. I do not care for the chin ups. I used the options after trying a couple with the Fit Tower for the STS 2 workouts. I like using the tubing for pull downs. I got Cathe's tubing, and they sometimes are using the heavy and extra heavy together, so they require a lot more strength to pulldown. I guess I should use the Fit Tower for the barbell even though I am not real heavy. It might save on the shoulders getting it up and down. All it takes is a twist picking the weight up wrong to throw things off. We got rid of our weight bench and even the large bar and some weight plates. No room for all of that. Too bad she is not selling the fit tower still. Wonder if you could find a fit tower on Amazon. I feel like my arms are weird of something because I cannot get a straight-out front preacher curl. It is uncomfortable.

Doreen, I would think that you get plenty of cardio with all of the outdoor activities you do. Nice work today doing KCM Boxfit.

Jolie, that is a good report from your dermatologist. Keeping covered is a good idea. Nice work on the 4 mile walk today. STS 2 workouts are about the same in length as STS original I think. Although there are shorter options on the STS 2 workouts. I seem to add 10 to 15 minutes to them changing equipment or which method I am going to use for a move. I would like another piece of equipment, but there is just no room right now. I made enough room in one room to do some cardio, although I have a habit of backing up into things. Not a lot of room when my dog joins me and I do not have the heart to make her go. We had the Treadclimber in the second workout room and moved it to the master so my husband can use it and make me more space. Then when I had the shoulder surgery I could not reach across myself to push the button to get out of the recliner because it hurt to do so since it was my right arm that had the surgery. I would scoot around and climb over the side with my sling on. My husband ordered me a recliner with a remote and the other went in my second workout room, so again no room. It has an art desk, spin bike and heavy bag in it. We replaced the big stand with the hanging 100# heavy bag for one with sand in the base. I miss the big spaces I had in the past.

Belinda, nice work on your walk and mobility today.

Back at work. Not excited at all to be here. Sitting all day in front of this damn computer just doesn't do it for me. Makes me sad.

This morning I got up at the butt crack of dawn and did RAW Box 4 Your Waistline. I really like this workout, it is fun and goes by fast. Then I did the RAW Stretch Finisher. My longer workouts are over for the time being.

Total workout was 42 minutes, burned 325 calories, did 2863 steps and HR was 132/174.

Jolie - It was 59 degrees this morning. I had my heater on in my car going to work. We have had one crazy summer. Usually we're up to at least 8 90 degree days and I think we've had one so far. I feel bad for all of you who are living is the hot climates, that must be terrible. I'm glad you dermatologist said your skin looked good, that is great news!!

Belinda, Doreen & Roselyn - Great job on your workouts yesterday.

Diane - I feel the same way about preacher curls. I just can't do them right and they hurt my elbows so much. I have heavier tubing and if I do any other STS workouts that do chins I'll use them.

Have a great day everyone! I can't wait for 3:30!!

I forgot to mention that my son got the finance job at the Government contractor company, he beat out 302 people! He beat out 2 of his professors at his school in the finance department, I bet they are confused why he got the job over them! I am so excited for him, and he stated work this past Monday and is loving it. The background check was so intense to work at this company, we all had to pass it in the family for him to work there, probably because it is all classified and they make weapons for all avenues of the military.

Today is the beginning of my long workouts, a dog walk for an hour and then weights. I thought I would be half dead but actually I did great with a two-hour workout. I decided to start STS Meso 1 today, I have not done it in a long time, and I really like how fast the workout goes by. I could not find my old workout sheet, so I had to guess on the weights. I did pretty good, but I need to go up the next time I do this workout on a few exercises. I cannot do pushups with my collarbone issue and sore elbow, so I did some sort of Chest Press or Chest Fly instead. Total workout time for today was 1 hour 55 minutes and I burned 989 calories! If this does not get me in good shape nothing will LOL! If only I could get my diet under control, I have been really bad lately.

Chest Press- 15's x 20 Narrow grip
Chest Press- Wide Grip- 15's x 20
Chest Press Regular- 15's x 30!
Seated Overhead Press Alternating- 12's x 16
Bicep Curls 21's BB- 25# x 21
Incline Chest Flys- 12's x 16
Rear Delt Flys Seated- 8's x 16
Band Pulls Rear Delts- x 16
Incline Bicep Curls with a twist- 15's x 16
Chest Press- 15's x 20
Incline Front Raise- 8's x 16
Standing Quarter Stop Curls- 12's x 8 rounds
Incline Chest Press- 15's x 20
Lateral Rise, no high ends- 8's x 16
Conc. Curls 1.5's- 12's x 12 (can go heavier next time)
Chest Press- 15's x 20
1 Arm Lateral Raise- 10# x 16
Seated Alternating Bicep Curls x 8 then both arms for 8 reps, 15's x 16
Chest Flys- 12's x 16
Seated Overhead Press- 15's x 16
1 Arm Preacher Curls- 12# x 16
Incline Chest Press- 15's x 20
Seated BB Front Press 1.5's - 25# x 12
Hammer Curls with a twist, no reverse curls- 15's x 16
Chest Press to Close Grip- 12's x 12
1 Arm incline rear raise on ball- 8# x 16
BB Curls wide Grip- 25# x 21 (21's)

I bet I will be half dead tomorrow. My goal is to get at least 3 weight workouts in per week along with the dog walking. It is cooler today but then it gets hot again!

Debbie, I am so sad that you are back to work already! It was so nice to have you be able to workout for longer periods of time and not rush around to get to work. I hope you do not get pain sitting at your desk again. I hope you have a good day.

Diane Sue, great job on the kick boxing workouts, I hope it does not kick up any pain for you. I would love to get rid of some stuff in my workout room to give me more space but then I regret it. I also hate having equipment in my bedroom, I like it really de cluttered, so it is easier to clean.

Roselyn and Belinda, great job on your workouts yesterday.

Make it a great day! :)

Today I did STS 2 Mish Mosh #2 Body Parts Triceps and Chest. It took me 52 minutes and actual time is 41 minutes, 109 calories, heart rate 83/109. I followed it with CDorner latest mobility workout quitting early with the relax feet up the wall, 28 minutes, 59 calories, heart rate 73/93. Total time was 80 minutes, 168 calories. I chose this mish mosh as there is not a lot of overhead triceps other than warm up and banded. Also no dips although I can handle them, just without a lot of extra weight load. Now I have to work on how to do the legs and shoulders. There are so many overhead presses in the shoulder workout and I need to find other moves to use.

Body Parts Mish Mosh 2 Triceps and Chest
warm up using 5 and 8 lb
lying overhead triceps extension#1 barbell 25# 10 reps
lying overhead triceps extension#2 30# barbell 10 reps (upped the weight)
lying triceps extension #3 30# barbell 10 reps

kneeling single arm kickback #2 10# db
incline chest fly#1 10# dbs 8 reps (I do not go below chest height as that is what the protocol says for shoulders)
Incline chest fly #2 10# dbs 6 reps (these have pauses)
incline unilateral chesst fly 10# dbs 6 reps
banded standing overhead extensions blue medium tubing 12 reps ( used the 40 pound db anchor_
banded overhead extensions blue medium tubing 12 reps
banded low high chest fly red light tubing 40# db anchor
banded mid chest fly blue medium tubing (used the bowflex weight stand as an anchor)
banded triceps press down #1 green heavy tubing and fit tower 12 reps
banded triceps reverse grip press down #2 green heavy and tower 12 reps
push ups
abbreviated stretch

Debbie, great job this morning. I do have fun with the box for your waistline workout. I am sorry you have to switch back to shorter workouts and getting up very early in the morning. I hope the desk work does not set things off for you again.

Jolie, great workout today. I bet you are glad to get back into the longer workouts. I am still at doing push ups mainly on my knees. Fortunately, Body Parts Chest only does a set of partial holds. If it went on very long, I would have done something else. That is great for your son. I imagine it took a few months to get through the background check.
