Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for August 2016

Today I did Ice Lower Body Blast with core 2, 61 minutes, 325 calories. Weights ranged from 4-10#heavier than Cathe's. I then did 21 Day Fix Extreme Pilates, 34 minutes (I did some stretching while it was loading) 104 calories. Total time 96 minutes, calories burned 439.

I thought I posted this morning. I have been so busy and we have been at the AT&T store two days in a row. I am tired so will try to get out to the store tomorrow and I have to get a birthday cake together for this weekend.

Jolie, sometimes weight gain does not mean a lot. It is probably muscle. That is great that you are in such good shape. You cannot beat that :) Those Power Hour biceps curls are not joke ;)

Deb, I understand. I think we get to feeling good and forget that we need to keep up with the stretching.

Roselyn, nice workout today. It looks a bit different on reps. . It is hard seeing them grow up. My granddaughter turned 20 this month. We are having a birthday party for her and her Dad this weekend. She will be going to college for a long time to get her law degree I think. Right now she is able to live it home.

Today was full body again and I had a great workout. Still a little stiff but the stretching seems to be helping. Not sure why my muscles get like this. Age maybe?

Today's workout went like this:

3 sets/15 reps with 2 minute rest - warmed up with GS Legs

Pushups - All on toes
Upright Row - 35#
Overhead Dumbbell Extension - 25#
Elevated Deadlifts - 55#
Seated Dumbbell Curls - 12's
Bent Over Lateral Raise - 12's

I also walked on my treadmill for .5 miles. Workout was 45 minutes long so not much time on the treadmill.

Looking forward to a couple days off. You all have a great weekend!!

Today I did Party Rockin Step #1, 54 minutes, 380 calories. I used my new Fit Bit Blaze and I did not realize that I had pushed the pause button 14 minutes into the workout when I kept trying to see the calories etc.. I saw it would flash pause and then go out. So, I took the avg heartrate for the 14 minutes and used my calories burned app to figure it. I am sure it was higher than this as I moved further into the workout though. When I did the weight workout I kept my hands off the watch. I can raise my arm and see the heart rate. It is just getting used to it. Today I did Ice Muscle Meltdown 4 rounds premix which is supposed to be 37 minutes. It took me 41 because I stopped to change some weights and between rounds I stopped to write down the weight changes. This only came to 103 calories. Reading on the way the watch works, it does not count calories as well using heart rate for weights. I have always noticed that with heart rate monitors so that is not a problem. Total time was 95 minutes and calories burned 483. It was nice working out without the strap. Fit bit gives all kinds of stats so it will be fun playing with it and watching all of the graphs. It shows so many stair climbs which seems funny since I go up and down stairs a lot. I am unsure of how it calculates that though. Right now it says 6 floors?? It has me at 7818 steps so far today and that includes going to Walmart and Sprouts this morning. My birthday is not for another week but my husband let me have my Fitbit early :) I logged onto the Fit Bit site and fixed my workout calories.
Back -giant sets 5 exercises 12 reps 4 rounds
one arm row- 30; 30; 35; 35
pullover 2 dumbbells 20; 20; 20; 20
one arm wide row 25; 25; 25;25
one arm pullover 17.5; 17.5; 17.5; 17.5
deadlift 2 dumbbells 30; 30; 35; 35
I still have shoulders and chest left to do this week.

Debbie, good job on the workout today. I am sure the two days off will do you good. You are much better at that than I am.

Yesterdays workout was Les Mi;)ls Combat 30 and half of Extreme Cardio Fighter. I used 1 lb gloves with both workouts. Workout was 1 hour and I burned 502 calories. I am tired today from watching 3 Football games yesterday and I also had a long appointment at the dentist, so I am taking the day off. My hamstrings are very sore from all the kicks I did yesterday.

Diane Sue, great workout, I have never done Party Rockin Step. As you know, I cannot do step, I am too uncoordinated. I have pressed to pause button on my Fitbit as well numerous times during the workout too. I just push start and let it run now. I always glance down at it to make sure it is running. Have a great weekend.

I am still getting used to this Fit Bit Blaze. I was doing great with Rock Out Knock Out till I put on the gloves. They turned the watch off. When I discovered it I put on my weighted gloves repeated the 6 minutes lost and logged that 6 minutes. I also did the heavybag portion but I wore my leather combat gloves an put them tight below the watch when wrapped it. I couldn't punch as hard. I still got in a good workout. Total for this workout ended up being 71 min. 449 calories, avg hr. 137 max hr 177 ?? I then did Muscle Meltdown Shoulders, 15 minutes, 50 calories, Pyramid Chest only, 7 minutes 11 calories (I hate chest work) and finished with Ab Circuits Yoga based abs, 15 minutes, 28 calories. My workout was 1 hour 49 minutes and calories burned 538. The Fit Bit does not pick up on weight work well.
I am not worried about it though. It is nice not having a strap.
Muscle Meltdown 3 rnds 5 exercises 12 reps
overhead press 15; 15; 12
upright row 15; 15; 15
standing side lateral 8; 8; 8
front raise 15: 15; 15
rear delt on ball 8; 8; 8
Pyramid chest 12, 10, 8, 10, 12 reps 12; 15; 20; 15; 12 #

Jolie, I raise my arm to see the blaze and it show the heartrate and time. I was hoping to use the Polar Beat App but they do not work together. I wish they did because I could watch my stats as I worked out on my 12 inch Galaxy tablet. I am just putting in the workout and leaving it alone. It was just that the Everlast boxing gloves apparently pressed the stop button. When I went to grab the remote to pause a second I noticed that it had all of the stats on it after you finish. I will get used to it. Maybe I can wear it higher on my arm or just use the weighted gloves next time. I will figure something out. I find going out and doing things like that makes me feel more drained than staying at home and cleaning house. Maybe it is somewhat of a mental drain or something. I don't know.

I did not sleep well again, it is very humid and hot again. I am so ready for the fall. Fall and winter are my favorite time of the year. I love to sleep under a big lofty comforter instead of sleeping with only a sheet. Also, I am a sweater and boots kind of gal! Bring on the cool weather.

Have a nice day.

Today I did X Train Super Cuts, 46 minutes, Fit Bit calories 192, Map My Fitness logged it from my watch at 262, and Calories Burned app had it at 279. The calories burned app usually comes out fairly accurate by my calories in and out and weight loss or gain. I then did Ice Bootcamp Circuit 45 minutes, Fit Bit 214 calories, Map My Fitness logged at 363 and Calories burned app logged at 297. heart rate for Super Cuts was 118 avg. /148 max; heart rate for Boot camp was avg. 123/ max 156. Anyway with the Fit Bit total was 406 calories, 91 minutes.

Debbie, maybe it was tougher because of the supersets? Then again sometimes we just come back stronger than other times.

Jolie, good workout and adding those high rep segments on.

Roselyn, it looks like you are keeping up with the workouts :)

Today I did Cardio Coach 1 and had a pretty good workout. Love this one, short and sweet. Felt good to run.

Workout was 36 minutes total, burned 247 calories, ran 2.4 miles and went 4911 steps.

I also did Cardio & Weights abs. Love that one!!!

Diane Sue - I'm so excited to hear you got the Blaze!!! Yea, you have to be careful and to hit the stop button. I've done that a few times. And you get the same type of calorie burns I get. When I lift, I always add about 110 calorie burns in Myfitnesspal because I know I've burned at least that much if not more when I lift weights. I also add more when I do Cardio Coach as well. I wish these devices were a bit more accurate, it's ridiculous that you are getting three different readings from three different devices. But besides that, how do you like the Blaze?

Jolie - I'm sorry you aren't sleeping well. I am enjoying this summer, even though it's been hot and extremely humid. I will miss it when we are in the dead of winter. I'm not of fan of cold or winter but I do love fall.

Roselyn - Nice workouts, girl! How is your dad doing?

Today I got up early and got in my workout so I could run a couple of errands and get back when the plumbers came. Unfortunately we have a major under the slab leak problem. Carpet will be torn out. I think we will have a mess. Anyway today I did Tabatacise 46 minutes, heart rate, avg. 136/ max 161. Fit Bit 277 calories, Map My Fitness linked to the Fit Bit 309, Calories burned Calculator based on average and time plus fitness level, 373. I am inclined to go with the Map My Fitness on this one. I felt I was working pretty hard though. I then did Burn Sets Biceps and Triceps, 40 minutes, heart rate average 112/ max 146. Fit BIt 149 calories; map my Fitness 230; calories burned calculator 217. Total time 86 minutes, Fit Bit total calories 426.
Weights on Burn sets Biceps and Triceps
biceps curls
20's 10, 10, 11 tf reps
simultaneous rotational curl 20's 10 reps 17;5's 10 reps; 10 reps
concentration curls 22.5; 20; 20 reps 10,10 12
burn sets crazy 8's 15's
triceps push ups body weight 3 sets
dumbbell lying extensions 15's 10, 10, 10 reps
triceps kickbacks 1 arm 17.5; 15;15 reps 10,10, 14tf

Debbie, I like the Fit Bit Blaze. I like the app and messing with it. I am not real interested in the step. The first couple of days I really watched them. LOL I wore it to bed once and I woke up with 87 steps. I get a lot of floors climbed. I think because of use of the step and going up and down our stairs. One day I got over 1400 steps in. The calorie burns are lower but I think it picks up the heart rate pretty accurately. Although once the first time I had a 170 bpm. I rarely do that so I am not sure if it was just a short mess up or I actually got it that high. It was during a cardio workout. I think like I mentioned before that the calorie calculator is pretty accurate as long as the heart rate average is accurate. The only thing is, I do not dare eat over those calories or I gain weight. So using a calculation a bit lower helps make up for any tidbits I eat and forgot to log. If that makes sense. I like not having that miserable wet strap on all of the time and the fact that I have the watch on all day so if I want to go add an ab workout or something I do not feel the need to go put that silly strap and watch back on. I wish it worked with the Polar app. I love that app. They have their own watch but if it works like the Bluetooth HR7 transmitter I would not be happy. I have not had a problem yet with the Blaze not working with the Bluetooth.

Today i did Les Mills Combat 30 and 1/2 of Extreme Cardio Fighter, using 1 pound gloves. Workout was 52 minutes and I burned 528 calories. This is a tough workout and I am soaking wet when Im finished. I accidentally left my fitbit on from my workout as I cleaned my kitchen and laundry room for 30 minutes. When I looked at it I had burned 800 calories total, 528 from my workout and the rest from the after burn effect. Not bad.

Diane Sue, I am sorry you are having plumbing problems, that is the worst! I am glad you like your Fitbit. You had a nice workout today, I really like that workout. I think i will do that one soon.

Debbie, great cardio workout this morning. I like winter because in Southern California we barley get any weather, I have to go to the mountains to see snow or cold temps. I think if I lived where it was very cold and it snowed, I probably wouldn't be too excited about winter. My husband is from New York, and he says to me all the time, "If you ever had to shovel your car out of the driveway after a snow storm, I probably wouldn't be love winter".

Roselyn, I hope you have a good workout today.

Did shoulders this morning, and triceps this afternoon, tomorrow is my mom's surgery so I have to get her and my dad at 5 am so no workout, but I am caught up with where I wanted to be this week, say some prayers girls. Thank You

Today was full body and I had a great workout. Rest time was supposed to be 3 minutes but I did 2 minutes. Wanted to get some steps in so I had to try and save some time. Same workout as last Wednesday but in Superset fashion.

4 sets/8 reps with 2 minutes rest - warmed up with GS Legs

SS #1
Alternate Hammer Curls
- 20's
Seated Dumbbell Military Press - 17's

SS #2
Pullups
- Body weight but feet on the floor stretched all the way out (think Cathe's pullups in STS)
Dumbbell Squats - 32's

SS #3
Flat Bench Press
- 80#
Lying Barbell Triceps Extensions - 40# for 2 sets; 35# for 2 sets

Was able to walk on my treadmill for 1 mile.

Diane Sue - So my FB showed I burned 112 calories with this workout, not including the walk on the treadmill. I always add about 100-110 calories in Myfitnesspal because I know I'm burning more than what the FB shows. Wish they were a bit more accurate. It is nice not wearing a strap anymore, that is one thing I love about it.

Jolie - Yea, you don't even know what winter is. When you are experiencing 20 below zero temps and have to shovel your car out of a snow pile, then tell me you love winter. LMAO!!!! Not fun here in Ohio. Your winter is our spring. :)

Roselyn - Prayers to your mom. Hope she is ok.

No workout for me today. I found out this morning that my neighbor died today and I'm sad and have some anxiety. I will pack for my trip to Oregon today and get that out of the way instead. Sat I am leaving for my nephews wedding and I will be back on Tues evening. I will try to get a workout in tomorrow and Friday.

Today I did Kelly Coffey Amped Up Cardio both workouts combined, 57 minutes, 364 calories(Fit Bit) It was 383 map my fitness and using the 140 bpm average the calorie calculator gave 481. I used Fit Bit. It was the same calories that I had the first time I did this workout with the Polar HR7. I then did Burn Sets Back 14 minutes, and used map my fitness which gave me 80. The Fit Bit had it at 43. I wanted to do abs so I did Kelly Coffey Slim Sculpting premix abs/core 32 minutes and used map my fitness 114 calories. Fit Bit had I at 96 and calorie calculator had it at 153 which really is what I had logged previously on my fitness pal using my other devices. I used 15 and 20 # kettle bells for this ab workout. I finished off with STS Extended stretch, 14 minutes, using the calorie calculator, 33 calories. Fit Bit had it at 16 calories. Map my fitness gives too high calorie burns for things like stretching and yoga most of the time. It had it at 88. I can tell a lot just from past experience and different devises. Calories burned today was 591.
Burn Sets Back
1 arm row 35# ; 35; 35 10; 10; 10 reps
dumbbell rows both 25# 25# 25# 10, 10, 12 reps
rear delt flys seated 15#; 15; 15 10, 10, 14
superman

Debbie, you are probably right adding the 100 calories to those workouts. Weight work is always way higher on the workout manager than my devises comes up with. Fit Bit really is made more for steps and cardio. Using the heart rate though with the calculator gives me some idea. Also linking it to Map My Fitness is helpful. I use my tablet for that.

Jolie, I am with Debbie on the winter weather. When we moved here after living in California we though having the seasons changing would be fun. The first winter here was a hard one and it started in October when it is generally January to February. We had so much snow and ice. I remember hearing yelling and looked out our upstairs apartment window to watch a man trying to get his car out. He finally got out and was kicking his car. His tires were just spinning and sliding. It is pretty if you have no where to go and can just stay in and look out the window. It gets old pretty quick. And then you have the bitter cold winds that go right through all of your layers of clothes. You are lucky weather wise. But, I would not want to move. I like our state. I am sorry that your neighbor died. I only know a couple of ours a little bit. I talk to them once in awhile when I am outside.

Today I woke up with a bad headache that was left over from yesterday. Hormones are raging right now, can't stand it. I was going to run on my treadmill but decided to just do a fast paced walk on an incline of 4%. Worked up a good sweat. Walked for 45 minutes, went 2.25 miles, burned 285 calories and went 5404 steps.

Diane Sue - I was looking at my FB today while waking and the stupid thing wasn't registering my heart rate. It is doing just what my strapped monitors used to do. WTH? It would finally start working and then lose it again. Frustrating.

Jolie - I'm so sorry about your neighbor. How sad. Was she elderly? Take care, girl!!

My mom's surgery was yesterday and all went well, they removed the bad kidney and ureter they don't think the cancer was outside that, waiting for biopsies.

I did work biceps yesterday and did a mile on the treadmill and today worked legs

Today I did Low Impact Sweat workout 2 timesaver, 29 minutes, heart rate avg. 129/ max 172 (I doubt that on the 172) If my heart rate gets that high I am gasping for air) 158 fit bit and 200 map my fitness. I think it should have been in between. I went with map my fitness though. Calories burned app was 210. I then did Burn sets chest with the warm up, 19 minutes, 85 calories (I used calories burned calculator which is in between for the weight work), I followed with Burn sets shoulders and stretch, 20 minutes, 76 calories. I finished off with P90X3 yoga, 31 minutes, 71 calories (calorie calculator) Total time was 98 minutes, calories burned 432. I think I undercut my calories a bit when I looked at past calorie burns with these workouts.
Burn sets weights
bench press 20's reps 10,10, 12 tf
chest fly 20's 10,10,12 tf
chest press incline 20's 10,10,12 to failure
push ups 20 reps
standing shoulder press 20's, reps 10,10 ; 17.5's 10 reps
single arm lateral raise 10# 10,10,12 reps
single arm rear delt raise 10# 10,10, 10 reps
scare crow

I stopped my bcaa glutamine I have been taking today. I think it is making a difference today in how I have been feeling and my allergies. Proteins have something to do with histamines. My allergies have been making me really ill. I have followed a lot of dietary guidelines and I think after doing some reading and an article by Dr Axe today that I may have another problem. I have been much worse since I have been on Paleo and eating a very high protein diet. I am going to try some eliminations and see if it makes a difference. Every time I take the bcaa glutamine I get flushing and by the time I am done with my workout I am feeling awful, coughing, odd heart rate, and totally fatigued. I a dragging myself around the rest of the day.

Debbie, I am sure that you probably checked but I was wondering if the battery was maybe low? Twice now I have had my Fit Bit Charge register over 170 for heart rate and I know that is not right. I generally end up using the heart rate average for calculations because those really high numbers even if accurate are probably for very short time periods or the device trying to adjust to a change.
I have worn my fit bit to bed twice. It sort of makes my wrist feel sweaty. I have been looking at some leather bands that have the frame on them. They are expensive from Fit Bit but there are knock offs on Amazon with decent reviews. I think I may try one of those for all day wear and use my purple band for the workouts.

Roselyn, praying for a good biopsy report for your mother.
