Cathlete
My workout will be done after work. I am going to follow cathy's new rotation because it switches every week. I am going to add a 1 mi jog on weight days (after the weights) to add just a touch of cardio. I've gained some weight and didn't need to. Today is total body and I haven't decided which workout yet.

This morning was Meso 1, Disc 2, Back and Triceps. Had an ok workout. Stability ball is flat because kitty cat decided to scratch his nails on it, and my DVD kept freezing. So for part of the workout I had to do it on my own. I have a crappy DVD player, I'm watching the DVD on another player and it's fine. So I need to fix this problem soon.

I'll be lucky if I get sore with this one. I was bummed that so many things went wrong this morning.

Did well with pullups. First set at the very beginning was 8 reps, (she did 12), second set in the middle I did 6 and the last set at the end I did 4. Very hard at the end.

Legs is Wednesday.

I'm doing Ab Ripper when I get home from work.

I did all of Extremely Ripped including the abs, 80 minutes and I burned 618. I then started Tracey's Glute camp planning on doing all of the standing work but I only got in the squats with the side to side band walks and in and out jumps and 1 set of deadlifts 12 minutes and burned an additional 86 calories. Total calories burned was 704 and workout was 92 minutes. The guys showed up early to start using a back hoe to do concrete work and I was scrambling to get cleaned up and dressed. But the work is finally getting started.

Good Morning!

Theresa - Have a good workout. I am going to see what Cathe's new rotation is. Won't follow it but maybe it will give me some fresh ideas.

Debbie - sorry the workout was a bit of a bummer. Bad kitty :p I have to keep my ball and my Bosu in interesting places b/c I especially do not want to replace the Bosu! But my ball is pink and I like it a lot. Are you liking STS otherwise? I did not feel significant DOMS until after Meso 1, for the most part. I certainly felt my muscles working and screaming during all of the workouts though.

Diane Sue - I missed out on what work you are having done at your house. You know, I got out Tracey's Parts Series the other day and it wouldn't play on my laptop so I didn't get to do it b/c Halle was occupying the TV and rather than disrupt whatever she was doing, I just did a different workout. I need to get that one out again. And I just can't get motivated to get Extremely Ripped!

I think I posted Friday, so will start with Saturday. We had the practice lake swim in the AM. I did not swim the distance b/c I mainly wanted to get in and face that fear of being in the nasty lake. For nights on end, I dreamed of being in there and snakes being everywhere and would wake up in a panic. It wasn't bad being in the lake, in reality, but I really didn't care for it either. Just gross. I could make out my arms moving under water and that's it. I wasn't bothered with putting my head in the water, or getting the water in my mouth as I turned my head to breathe, so at least I have that going for me! You can believe I wore my nose clips and my ears were plugged, which I always do anyway b/c the first time I turn my head on freestyle, I have water going into my ears. Anyway, I swam out and back a few times to get a feel for the water.

Afterwards, I got in the nice, clean pool and swam 600 meters without stopping at the walls for even a second b/c I wanted to mimic the swim on the 9th (which is 482 meters). I also had my fastest 300 meter swim to date. Every time, I am shaving off seconds so that is great motivation! I came home from that and did CC#3 but for Challenge 3, I did CC#8, challenge 2 instrumental - the first 8 minutes, then cooled down to CC#3. I did the TM, SM, and arc, and cool down on bike. Also did reverse crunches. Yesterday, I did abs from SJP and swam in our pool, which really did not amount to much. I needed the rest day.

Time to hit Monday and get on with it.

Hi everyone! I am back from the RT after a late night yesterday- flight delays. Ugh. Anyway, I am hopelessly behind but had to share my favorite picture. :)

Shana - Oh I'm enjoying STS alot. I was just bummed about this mornings workout. I honestly don't know how Linda is doing this rotation without Cathe instructing.

Patti - Nice pic! Thanks for sharing! Hope you had fun on the RT.

Diane Sue - I seen that you did KB Surge on Saturday. How is the ab work in that workout? I should try it out. Nice calorie burn you got!

Shana, I like Extremely Ripped because you really get no breaks and it gets my HR up while constantly doing weights. My HR got up to 159 doing this workout. I get it all in one workout:D I like Tracey's Parts dvd a lot and it is nice to fit in portions with other workouts.

Debbie, I like doing the ab segment from Amy's Kickbox Surge. It is all done with a med ball. You do some standing moves, some planks with your feet on the med ball and a slight rotation of feet on the ball, another move that is sort of hard to describe (in some ways it reminds me of her modified turkish get up in another workout)ball balances rolling the ball side to side in plank position and catching with the other hand, and she finishes with holding the ball in one hand sitting in a kind of v sit position raises it up to hold overhead with both hands then balances holding it in the opposite hand. Hope I am describing all of it right:)

Patti, great picture of you and Cather:D I bet you had lots of fun.

Thanks Diane! I'll try it sometime this week. I'm trying to get two ab workouts done a week and I know I'll have to do them at different times other then my workout time because I never have time to do them. Looking forward to doing this one. I'm really liking Amy's workouts.

Patti
- Great picture! Glad you had a great time, just sorry we didn't get to meet up on Friday. I was out late Thursday, then had to help my Mom with some stuff on Friday morning. Hoping to go next year.

Linda - Did you go to the RT too??? Did you have fun?? I seen some pics and one has your name on it (Shewolf).

Shana - Oh I'm enjoying STS alot. I was just bummed about this mornings workout. I honestly don't know how Linda is doing this rotation without Cathe instructing.

- No I didn't go on the RT, I just went up Thursday night to see some of the RTer's that arrived early. Had a great time with them and am really hoping to do the RT next year! The only way I get through STS without the disc is my viewing all on the video clips for each exercise so I can see how it's done. Then anything I am unsure of some Catheites, like Patti and others, help explain to me. I am sure I don't manage to do everything exactly right as far as rep count, but hey it's results that matter, right?

This my rest week and not sure what I am going to do with it. This morning I did do Amy's KB Dynamics, but did not go heavier than a 20# KB and a couple places I subbed a lighter DB, just did not want to go all out and not feel rested at all by next week. Also did the ab work from this one for the first time, it was fun. I love the overhead halos for firing the core.:D

I hope you don't think I was saying you weren't getting a good workout without Cathe instructing. That's not what I meant at all. I give you a lot of credit for doing this series alone. You rock! I did some of it on my own and then I would get the DVD working again and did some with Cathe. I just felt I was getting a better workout with her. I had no idea what half the exercises were or how her rep counts went. LOL!!! It's good that you know all that.

And I also want to say that you rock with the weights in this series too. I've had to go below you quite a bit with alot of the exercises. I was shocked you did kickbacks with 15# dumbbells and some of the shoulder work you did with weights that would have killed me.

I have to watch how heavy I go, though, because my damn shoulder still hurts. Obviously it's more then a simple muscle pull. :(

Oooh, overhead halos sound fun!!!

I didn't think you were saying that at all. But honestly, if there weren't video clips of each exercise in the w/o manager I would definitely be lost. As far as my weights go I think I pushed a little too hard on some of them, but darn it the w/o called for 60% and I wanted to do it (even if it was a little stupid:p)

Oh, be careful of your shoulder. I have sen to many people go through shoulder surgery. Not a pretty sight.

Halos are way fun!:D

So you did the 1RM thing? I didn't. I probably should have....

No, it was a subjective 60%. Like....the highest amount I ever curled was 60# for 5 reps, so if I can do 60# for 5 reps, then my 1RM would probably be around 65#, so 60% of that is 39#, round that to 40# for ease and convenience, so in theory I should be able to do 40# for 15 reps. And there you have my very unscientific way of calculating my weights.

Then in week two add 5% to that.:p And week four add another 5%.:p:p

Hi Maniacs -

This morning I did Gilad's Quick Fit Arms, Legs, hips, glutes, Chest & Back and part of the abs. I added on about 10-15 of Cardio Blast. I used from 5-20 pound DBs but this was so high rep that I kept dropping my weights down constantly. I was quite impressed with this DVD. I've been enjoying Gilad and the beach lately! He had some different spins on moves and I think his DVDs could be effective! Workout was 1:25" and I burned 600 something calories.

I also did Classical Stretch for Back pain (as I'm having a horrid flare up of right sided back, shoulder, hip, etc. pain). I hope my pain isn't from doing Insanity the other day. There's one move where you do like a plank to a handstand and throw your legs to the other side (sort of hard to explain) and I think this may have put too much pressure on my disc problem in my neck and aggravated it. I also did Namasta yoga, but I need more yoga and the foam roller for pain!

Deb - I have to keep my Bosu and Stability Balls FAR away from the cats! Sorry you had problems this morning. I'll be interested to see how you like STS after doing it for a while. I'm trying to psych myself up for a rotation.

Diane Sue - I've had Extremely Ripped sitting in my "to do" pile, but it did not get good reviews on VF...so I keep looking at it instead of doing it. Since you got your HR up that high, I'm definitely interested. I might do it Wednesday. How long is the entire thing? 80 minutes? Can you shorten it somehow?

Patti - I never knew what you looked like! You are very pretty! Nice picture. Nice to put a face with a name.

Shana - I was cracking up reading your swimming in the lake experience. I just LOVE to swim, but haven't for years. My life is so busy with work and my DH and I work different shifts....so we are never usually off together to do something like go swimming. Kind of a bummer, but I feel too fat to put on a swimsuit anyway. Actually, I don't even own a current one! Some day!

Have a great day everyone.

Diane Sue & everyone else with HRM's - What brand do you have? Does it require a chest strap and can you change the battery in it or do you have to take it somewhere to change the battery?

I found a strapless HRM that only requires pushing one button to get your HR (mine requires two fingers....which interferes a bit more), but you have to take it to a jeweler to change the battery....which I think is a pain in the butt!

My Mio's battery lasts a VERY long time and has an easy to remove battery.

Lora - ha. I dread that lake but I can't let it beat me so I'll be in it, swimming my little heart out (if for no other reason, just to GET out!:D) I have really discovered a love for swimming though, as long as it is in the pool.

Patti - great pic! Looking forward to a full report!

I am going to do Super Sets today, I think. Want to keep the weights going this week but not overdo it b/c I need to be in the best condition possible on Sunday. I don't believe in taking it easy but I will taper down some. Seems otherwise, I get stiff and slower. Oh, and more than a bit irritable from missing workouts ;)
