Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Check-In for August, 2019

Back for personals:

Doreen - Kelly does stop a lot during some of her workouts and I also wonder about it. I'm doing the workout with her, and although they are tough workouts, I'm not sweating like she is. I'm wondering if her basement is really hot or something. When I was doing the R&R May on Monday she seemed to be getting tired a lot faster than I was. And she was really sweaty. I feel I worked out just as hard as she was and I wasn't that sweaty or tired. That being said, I like to know she's human! We all get worn out at times with our workouts. I still love her RAW workouts.

Jolie - Great job with your workout yesterday and I agree with the biceps being flat. Mine look flat to me as well, they certainly don't have that nice peak anymore. I'm blaming age!! Boo!

Diane - I hope you get your echo results soon. I didn't get mine back for like 3 weeks. Ridiculous. Nice job with your workouts, it seems you might be feeling some relief finally? I hope so!

Belinda - I also like working out better when it's cooler outside. It's humid here again today but only in the 70's. Great job on the 3 mile walk!

Roxie - Yea, I probably wouldn't like those workouts much. Glad you are enjoying them though!

Roselyn - I had to stop BB, just wasn't feeling it anymore. Great job with your workout!!

Have a great evening everyone!

Tomorrow morning I have the thyroid ultrasound. I guess I will coming back to do the physical therapy exercises. I am sure having a hard time getting housework done.

Debbie, nice work on the Cathe Live workout. I think Kelly may get overheated because of the lights for video she has in her basement. I remember her having one overheat during one of her workouts. I just generally keep moving when she takes breaks. I like her personality too and that she does not put on a superhuman front. She has some new workouts planned for the Raw channel. The September R & R is supposed to be all lower body focus. I am doing a little better, but have really not done much the last few days other than the PT exercises which seem to take so long.
Today I told the PT that the side lying rotator move with the 1# dumbbell seemed to make my shoulder hurt. He watched me do it and told me I was going to far and should only go up about 3/4 of the way. I find a lot of moves that I have done from PT books, I am not doing quite correct. Or my limitations mean it needs changed till things are right. I asked him about the foam rolling move that I have seen done by instructors where they roll back with their head way back. It is always a bit much for me and makes the neck hurt. He says it is meant to correct all of that forward leaning stuff we do, but with my limitations right now it would make things hurt. Later when I am rid of all of that tightness I can do more of that type of stuff. I told him I had been working on that. I slept last night without taking ibuprofen which was good. I seem to have longer periods where it doesn't just hurt. Pulling doors open and clothes out of the washer hurts though.

Doreen, I do like the Raw Kettlebell workouts though. I like how she works them into the workouts.

Jolie, it is probably best to give the legs a rest day. Les Mills Pump has great music. Lots of oldie tracks. They have a music track for each exercise group and move through around 4 to 5 1/2 minutes segments for each body part. Pretty much non stop movement for each body part track and it is high rep. It is like Body Pump.

Roselyn, I hope you get a buyer on your house soon.

This morning I did two Max Trainer workouts and then got on my treadmill for a walk. Had a great time with all I did. Still finding the Max Trainer hard to do. I have a fear factor with it, but I do love using it. My legs burn so much while using it but I guess that's what it's supposed to do.

Combined these workouts for my cardio reading: Max Push 10 and Max Mix Cardio 10 - both workouts were 26 minutes, burned 201 calories, went .76 miles and did 1820 steps. HR was 143/174.

Treadmill workout was 25 minutes, burned 170 calories, went 1.35 miles and did 3086 steps. HR was 121/145.

Diane - I'm sorry you are still in pain, I can't believe that is happening. Hopefully the PT will help. I have a knot in my upper back again and it was really hurting yesterday. After using the therapy ball last night it is a bit better. I know it happened when I was doing the 35# pullovers. I felt it when I did those. Hate that! I agree about Kelly and can't wait for her new RAW workouts!

Roselyn - Sometimes you just have to be patient. Is there a date you need to be out or is it that you just want it sold?

Waving hi to all who comes after me. Have great workouts!!!

Exercise ADD this morning. I started with RAW Kickbox and Oly lifting but I did kickbox yesterday so I stopped and switched to Tabata Barbells - but that was also cardio so when they went to the floor I switched to the Jan Ripped & Ride. Total time 1 hour. I don't even know whether I should call today a lifting or cardio day!

Good morning,

I did SBF TB barre = 60 min plus stretch 3 today. Needed that stretch. I need to work out my plan for next week.

Debbie - fantastic job on your Max Trainer. You sure getting some use out of it. Is it like a TM?

Diane - hope Gerdie is doing better too. Sorry about the Tornadoes in August. That does seem weird!

Roselyn - hope your house sells soon.

Diane - I hope you feel better soon. How is Gerdie doing?

Doreen - great job this morning.

Roxie - have fun with your workout today.

I will try to be back later. I gotta run. BBL!

Today i woke up exhausted, hot and humid and on top of that, the Marine base was going off all night with artillery exercises and helicopters flying everywhere. I swear, they are getting ready for something big! Anyway, i pulled it together and did Yvette's Moderate impact step/ multi muscle group training that incorporated mostly legs, shoulders, biceps and cardio and there was some abs and core. Workout was 1 hour and i burned 631 calories. My average heart rate was 132 and max was 170. I was sweating bullets all the way through the workout. I think this is one of her easier workouts in terms of impact and she uses lighter weights with more compound moves. I liked it a lot, it is a great workout when you are not up to her really hard ones :)

Debbie, great job on the cardio today, i feel the same dread factor with my elliptical, it is a really hard workout so i have to push myself to get on it.

Diane Sue, i hope your pain is better. I feel for you. Try high doses of Magnesium and electrolytes it has done wonders for my sore muscles and cramping. Maybe minerals will help. I get a liquid non flavored mineral supplement at Sprouts called Mineral Magic, it really is a great way to take your minerals, i just pour it in a drink of whatever.

Belinda, great job on the stretch today. It always feels so good when you are done.

Roselyn, it took me 4 months to get an offer on my house. The market is on a down turn so you have to be patient. I think a lot of people are trying to sell before the election in case a Socialist becomes President. Imagine what will happen to the economy.

Roselyn, great job with the leg workout.

Doreen, great lifting/cardio workout today.

Have a nice day. I am putting the air conditioner on tonight, i have to get a good nights sleep!

This morning was 40 minutes of PT exercises and then I went to get my thyroid ultra sound. I am trying to get some things accomplished today. Got some cleaning done. Tomorrow I should be able to get in a little cardio before I go to the physical therapist. Not all exercises are exclusive to shoulders and neck. Some get into the mid back a bit and every day I do one that is a lumbar move. You lie on your side with knees tucked up and with both hands together on one side and then open and close the "book". It is a nice stretch with some movement to it. Usually that starts at the beginning after the hot pillow and electrodes thing. This feels really good. Tomorrow will be my 5th session with them. I went to bed last night without taking anything, but kept waking up till finally at 3 am I got up and took one ibuprofen. That stuff takes so long to take affect. It was near time to get up at 5:30 before I fell asleep again. It was still hurting this morning, but I did a few of the neck stretches and stuff when I got up before coffee. Then did all of it when I
went upstairs. He would ask which places were hurting at various points and gave me some moves to try. Anyway it has been pretty good most of the day. Starts hurting a bit and I do a few stretches. Also took some Boswellia. I ran out of curcumin tumeric which is supposed to come in from Amazon today.

Debbie, I feel the same way with the tread climber. It is a great workout, my legs burn and I feel like I am hiking up a mountain or something without slowing down. Like trudging along. Maybe it will seem easier as you do it for awhile. I used to really push myself on the Tread Climber, but since I do it sporadically find myself doing it more Tabata intervals style or I just start at a slower pace and gradually pick it up then take it back down. I never got regular programs for it like you have. That might push me to try harder ;) Nice work today. My neck gets so tight and it feels like my head is so much lighter when they get done with me. They do some loosening up and then some sort of traction thing (with their hands) It really does help. They also have me lay with a rolled up towel along my spine and my head on a pillow for 3 minutes every day. Then they added lying on the towel and doing punch ups with both arms straight in front of me and keeping that towel in the same place. The first time one of their helpers had me do it without a pillow and my head was tilted back. The PT came over and gave me a pillow saying having my head back like that did not look comfortable for me. I have been watching some goofy PT guys on YouTube while I am doing PT exercises. I recognize some of the moves, but they Do have some interesting and helpful stuff. Their jokes are corny. It is Bob and Brad. They also do some exercises. I was watching one on getting rid of shoulder impingement pain fast. I hope you can get rid of the tightness in your neck. Pull overs are always a little worrisome for me anymore. I used to do those pretty heavy. What was I thinking anyway? I tense up to much through almost every activity I do. Trying to be conscious of relaxing those shoulders and neck.
I mentioned that those rotator cuff moves were ones I used to do with 5 and 8 # and now 1# is hard. He said 8# was probably too heavy for most people for that move. It doesn't need that much weight to strengthen it.

Doreen, that sounds like some of my days when choosing the workout and decision making :) Great workout anyway.

Belinda, that was a nice long barre workout. I was thinking I should pull out turbo barre. Skip the upper section though. Gertie, seems better today. I think she is in some kind of funk because I am not tossing the ball and playing with her as much. We keep going out and leaving her. I came back and laid down and she bought me her toy and I tossed it once and she took it half way upstairs, and I know it was because she thought I would go up and throw it down for her. My tossing with the left arm is not that great. My husband said we would take her for a walk maybe this weekend. She pulls, or I would do it. She needs some excitement. I gave her half her normal food this morning and added some rice and a bit of pumpkin and so far no problems. Wondering if she ate something outside that she shouldn't have.

Jolie, there are just those days where the workouts seem much harder than usual. It sounds like a good one. I will have to check out the mineral magic. I don't remember seeing it there, but will look it up. I had recently bought magnesium oratate per arthritis foundation's recommendation. I looked yesterday and it only has 40 mg 10% of daily value. I thought it was odd because it also says 654 mg from magnesium oratate. Anyway I bought some stronger magnesium supplement yesterday. Funny if I followed the dosage recommended by the ARF it would take a large part of the bottle of 60 capsules. Having the Marines out there should at least make you feel safer :) I know, I gave up on trying to save electricity with the smart hours lately. When I am in pain and pouring sweat it makes me nauseated. Also when I sleep at night I have started cooling it down a bit. I try, but once it gets to about 84 in here I am done with being practical.

This morning I did Cathe Live Total Body Giant Sets 2 #214. Really liked this one. Fast moving, good exercises and some lower reps where you could go heavy if you want. I stayed a bit moderate today.

Lots of exercises so I will be back later to list the workout. It was fun!!

Have great workouts everyone!

Good morning,

Cathe Friedrich Party Rockin Step Workout 1 is done. I like the music in this one.

Debbie - good job on your workout this morning. Glad you liked it.

Doreen - I did pre order. Can't wait for updates.

I will try to be back later.

This morning I did Kelly Coffey Cardio Sculpt Overload again, just the Low impact cardio & Lower Body mix. 29 minutes, 194 calories, met 7.0, heart rate average 141, max 173, 2,348 steps. I wore the 4# vest which worked well for me. I think it helps intensify those body weight lower body moves. I limited overhead movements again as this seemed fine last time. I then did Cathe Lean Legs and Abs mix #3 timesaver chair/firewalker and bonus barre. I wore 3# ankle weights for the barre work and used the blue firewalker band for that, also 8# db on thigh for the chair work. This was 37 minutes, heart rate average 97, max 151, 621 steps, met 5.5, 137 calories. Total time was 66 minutes, 331 calories, 2,969 steps. They just called from PT and asked me to come in at 10:30 instead of 10 so I have time to log my workout :)

Roselyn, great job with Body Beast!

Debbie, some of those workouts have so many reps I hesitate to type them all out. :)

Doreen, I ordered Step Boss. I don't expect an update for awhile since they said late fall if I remember right. That generally means somewhere near Christmas. It takes them a long time just to plan out the workouts before they film.

Belinda, I think I have said it before, but Party Rockin step is a favorite of mine. It is my go to workout when I am not feeling a workout and I really like the music in both of them.

Belinda,

Today I did Cathe Live, Upper Body with Ball # 52 and had an awesome workout. I was strong today, you will see by how many reps I was doing, i have to go heavier next time :) Workout was 1 hour and i burned 427 calories. I love this one, it goes slow so you can go heavy or more reps and it is 3 rounds of each Giant Set or mini round and your muscles are fried at the end of these ball workouts. There is a total upper body circuit at the end that i cannot due because of pushups so i did my own thing. The ab and core workout at the end is insane!

Chest Flies- 15's x 20 x 16, x 14 ( i did each set to failure in this entire workout today.)
Pullovers- 24# x 14, x 14, x 14
Chest Press- 20's x 20, x 20, x 21 (Cathe did pushups)

Seated Overhead Press- 15's x 20, x 20, x 18
Incline front raise with an arc- 8's x 16, x 14, x 14
Lateral Raise- 8's x 14, x 14, x 14
Smile rear flies- 8's x 14, x 14, x 11 ( these are killer, i thought i would die!)

Incline Bicep Curls- 12 x 20, too lite- grabbed 15's x 14, x 16
Lying Triceps Ext.- 12's x24, too lite- grabbed 15's x 16, x 13

Incline Chest Press- 20's x 20, x 18
1 Arm Rows- 30# x 12, x 11
Seated Arnold Press- 15's x 16, x 15
Kickbacks- 10's x 16, x 16
Seated Hammer Curl to shoulder press- 15's x 12, x 10

Core and Abs

Wow!

Debbie, great workout today, i like that one too!

Diane Sue, great workout, that is impressive since you have been going through a lot of discomfort and pain.

Doreen, i did not preorder this time. I just do all Cathe Live and Yvette Bachman at this time and love it.

Belinda, great job on the step workout. I cant do step workouts, i get so dizzy and nauseous. I just use the step in Yvette's workouts and she uses it like a box for exercises, i cant do the dance style workouts. I have always wanted to do Low Max but have never been able to do it. That workout always seemed like a killer leg workout. You should do it!

Have a nice day, BBL to read other posts.

Back from PT. I wish I wanted to get gas when I left, but forgot to grab my discount card so will have to do it later. I definitely will need the car full when I start taking my grandson to school next week. I got my PT scheduled for the next two weeks and around the arthritis doctor appointment the 12th. I need to call them before hand and see how I am doing and if he wants me to come in.
She added a couple of more exercises to my list to do. She spent most of her time on that knot on my upper back, trap, neck area and right shoulder. It really hurt when she got that spot and where everything seems to be coming from. She would put hard pressure on and it really hurt when she lost the knot and slid over it. Sort of like trying to put something on a bump and it keeps moving out of the way. She did this and then moved on to the shoulder and working to straighten me out as well as stretch the shoulder out.

Jolie, nice workout today. I was not feeling a lot of pain this morning. Mostly the side of my neck and shoulder front side. Certain things I am finding I can get away with, but if I do a lot of reaching overhead, I am almost guaranteed pain later.

I'm back finally. This is the workout I did this morning - Total Body Giant Sets 2 #214

12.s's - 12 reps
Overhead Triceps Extension: 20# - 10 reps
Triceps Pushups: 10/12 reps
Chest Flies: 15's - 12 reps
Repeat

Lower Body
Side Lunges:
12.5# - 16 reps each side
Front Lunges: 12.5's - 16 reps each side
Side-Side Sumos: 20# - 24 reps (I did regular sumos)
Barbell Deadlifts: 40# - 12 reps
Repeat

Upper Body 4
One Arm Row:
20#
Dumbbell Curls: 12's - 16 reps
One Arm Fly: 10# - 10/12 reps
W Curls: 10's - 16 reps

8 reps
Side Planks: 12 reps each side
Reverse Crunch: 64 reps
In/Out Planks: 16 reps (8 full, 8 elbow)
Ankle Grabbers: 16 reps
Repeat

I did not do the first ab exercise like Cathe did, I moderated it. I did the first rep like Cathe did and felt a pull in my hip. Those are hard and stupid so I just did reverse crunches doing the choke holds. I did the rest as is.

Workout was 60 minutes, burned 422 calories and did 1940 steps. HR 133/194.

Belinda - the Max Trainer is more like a step climber. It's hard. Great job with your workouts! Party Rockin Step sounds like fun!

Diane - Looks like you had a great workout today, I know you went a lot lighter than you usually do, but still a good workout. I can't do 8# for the cuff moves, that would kill me. I think I've gotten to 5# on them but that's the highest I will go. I think we've all done that, though, lifted too heavy - I know I've done it. I just did, the other day I did 35# for pullovers and now I have a huge knot in my upper back. I hate not being able to lift what I used to lift. :(

Jolie - Excellent workout today! I like that one too. I really liked the one I did today, it was fun.

Doreen - Great job with that leg workout. Sounds brutal!!

Roselyn - Great job with you arm workout. How's school going?

Roxie - Hope you are good today!

Have a great evening everyone!

This morning I did Kelly's RAW Home Gym Intervals #1 which I love and had a really good sweaty workout. This one goes by so fast, I just love these workouts she does. The R&R's are right up there with these as well. Love them!

Each interval was 1 minute:

Squats - 15's
Cardio
Front Curls - 15's
Cardio
Squat/Alternate Pledge - 15's
Cardio
Goblet Squat/Calf Raise - 15#
Cardio
Front Raise - 15#
Cardio
Plie w/Upright Row - 15's
Cardio
Kickstand Deadlifts - 15's
Cardio
Overhead Dumbbell Extension - 15#
Cardio
Deadlifts/Kickbacks - 12#

Workout was 27 minutes, burned 213 calories, HR was 138/177 and did 2331 steps.

I also walked on my treadmill for another 30 minutes, burned an extra 194 calories, went 1.5 miles and 3530 steps. HR was 117/134.

I feel great today although I got on the scale and I've been gaining weight lately. Not sure why as my food is pretty much spot on and I'm working out like a nut. I'm up to 130#. I haven't seen that weight in a long time. I like to be 125#. I need to get rid of 5# and plan on doing so. Frustrating.

Have a great a day everyone and have a great long weekend!!

No workout for me today, i take my rest days during the week because i love to get some long workouts in on the weekends.

Debbie, I am 5 feet 10 inches and i have gained 10 pounds since i was sick during the holidays. I am very frustrated as well, i bet it is menopause issues. I workout like a nut as well, but i know my eating could be a lot better. I weight 159!!!! I look the best at about 151 pounds, any lower and i get sick a lot and feel drained. I always carry quite a bit of muscle in the legs, i think that's why my weight is high. I am going to start working at some weight lose, that's why i started doing Yvette's workouts again. Last time i did two of her workouts a week with Cathe live workouts, i started to really lean out. I always gain weight in the summer and during football season, lots of tailgating food and cocktails. :) Great workout today, i should do that one, i think i have the dvd.

BBL to read all of your posts, i hope you all have great workouts today.

Good morning,

I did CTX Step & Intervals this morning.. I am thinking doing the STS + RWH rotations starting next week? Can't decide what I want to do? I may change my mind until then, lol.

Debbie - your workout looks like fun. I like the 1 min intervals between each exercise. WTG! I used to use the step climber in Germany a lot. Love that machine.

Jolie - I didn't forget about the Pump set. I think I sold it. I still have a box of dvd's in a box in the basement. I will look this weekend, I need my husband to help me with moving boxes. The weight will come off eventually. Hang in there, girl.

Diane - sorry about your pain. A few years ago I had to go to PT too. Took forever until I felt 100%. Hang in there.

Have a great Friday, everyone.

This morning I did Les Mills Pump Step, 32 minutes, heart rate 139 average, 165 max, 2839 steps, met 8.3. I then did Raw abs finisher a little past the standing for 13 minutes, avoiding lifting arm overhead so I stopped at the sit up overhead with dbs. Before I have held the db in front of me, but did not want to push it. This was 41 calories, 203 steps. I finished with PT and some foam rolling afterward. 1 hour and 1 minutes, 80 steps, 80 calories. Total time was 1 hour 46 minutes, 3,122 steps, 348 calories.
I was really hurting in a while after I got home from PT. I iced and stuff. Ended up taking Advil before bed. It seemed to let up by morning because it did not hurt much when I got up this morning. I am just a little sore. I was watching PT shows this morning and one of them that I have watched in the past said to use heat and that ice can make it worse. Also that insaids can be counter productive since the are anti inflammatory and stop the fluid around the joints that is supposed to help heal the joint. Also Ice will stop the process of lubrication in the bursa. He had some interesting views on things. Maybe I will try heat. Bob and Brad had some different ways of helping sleep and not lying on the shoulder side or using pillows strategically so you are not putting pressure on the shoulder if you have to lie that way. I was looking at the new Versa 2 Fit Bit watch and am inclined to think that I would not want one. Now they are giving a free 3 month subscription to their premium (whatever that is) stuff that the watch can do. I guess that means that if you want to do all of the stuff it can do you have to pay. Also, those that do wifi from the watch?? Do you have to have a service like AT&T or something that you have to pay for. As my blaze works from wifi with my cell phone and not on it's own. My husband had AT&T with his Samsung Gear watch and had his own phone number on it. He has had two of those. The first one also took pictures. Funny though, he cancelled the AT&T and phone on it because he never used it. He said he just wants it for a watch.

Debbie, I know I have had the idea in the past that heavier was better. I always tried to go heavier. Probably was not the best way to do it. Particularly where anything along the spine (which is about everything) and areas like the neck are concerned. If something hurts a little we should not keep pushing it. Still I find myself doing it once in awhile. I have went down in weight, but I am sure it is not doing weights and altering my dietary components. I am using My Net Diary and MFP both as I can monitor the cholesterol, saturated fats etc. And keep it on the dashboard. They give a lot of reminders which are helpful.

Belinda, I never think about pulling out the CTX workouts. You have made a lot of use of STS. I just never have a want to do a rotation with them. I would rather just pull some out randomly or just do one phase of it and move on.

Jolie, I think we all have those times where our weight creeps up and seems to hang on. I guess it is fighting back LOL. I think I spent about 6 months recently wondering why with the hard longer workouts that I was doing and diet was fairly good, but no matter what I was hovering a bit over my high end which is 120 which is usually my stopping point for my height and structure. I bet you would enjoy some of the Les Mills workouts on the streaming service. I wonder if you could get a free trial. It is nice to do something different. It seems like Kelly likes to do a lot of interval type workouts.
