Hard Strikes hurts my knees!

Just a word of caution to those with knee issues-this is one of worst DVD's I've done for my knees. Its all high impact jump ropes, jumping jacks, hopping on one foot sideways, and those dreaded scissors (the worst for my knees of any exercise.) There are no kicks in the workout (a few in the warmup only)-its all jumping. I won't be doing this one again. And, I found it rather boring. Just punching away for 30 minutes mixed with jumping. MMA Boxing was more interesting and knee friendly than this one.

Some days I just don't care for impact so I kept iHard Strikes mostly low impact by doing low impact jacks (side to side), subbing knee reach-pulls for most of the switches, and either a low jog or bobbing for the jump roping.

I do this with other workouts too, especially since I really enjoy the lower impact cardio Cathe does in Intensity low impact HiiT / boot camp premix and in Travel Fit.

I can't wait to try it again. My first time through I used my nook because my DVD's hadn't arrived yet. Maybe sometime you can try it again with modifications or maybe a premix? I haven't seen what is on there yet.

I have knee problems too but i did do it with modification as well, and i had a wonderfjl workout! It was really fun even doing the mods. Sorry it hurt ur knees..hopefuly try again with the mods?

I think with most workouts modifications are needed somewhere in there. I agree with Renee maybe try it again with modifications that are more comfortable to your knees and see how that goes.

Yes you can transfer the downloads to your nook by connecting your nook to your pc. I keep a micro so card in mine. When you connect your nook to the pc wait for the disk to show up (mine comes up as disk k and the nook itself also shows up), the drag and drop the download(s) to the disk. Once finished, eject the card AND nook from the pc and play away. Your copy on your pc stays intact.

If you want you can eject your sd card from the nook and insert it in the pc, drag and drop, eject and reinsert in nook. I usually don't do this but you can.

Note: ALWAYS (!!!!) turn your nook off before ejecting and inserting an SD card. ALWAYS!!!!!

Thanks but i was saying it did not hurt my knees because i did do mkdifications on alot of it. Its very doable. N fun :)

Can you read the user guide on your nook too? I'm assuming you can but I'm not super tech savvy with my nook. All I know is that I use adobe digital edition to get things from my computer to my nook, but I couldn't figure out how to get the user guide to adobe digital editions

Hi,

does this work on just the newer virsions of the NOOK or all of them? I have the Classic, basically the original one..

This was a knee-killer for me as well... a figured out pretty early in the workout that I needed to heavily modify, which I did. Instead of scissors, I did slow lunge backs, which helped, and also those knee reach-pulls instead of all the jumping rope. I also then added a 10 minute incline walk on my treadmill at the end. I want my knees to last for another 50 years ; )

See thats the problem-you have to modify this entire workout so it becomes a different workout altogether. Kind of ridiculous. After the low impact mods I don't get near as much of a heart rate kick. It becomes a lower intensity 30 minute cardio instead of high intensity.
I also started this thread to warn folks with bad knees not to bother with this one, unless they like to create a whole new workout using mods.

I have arthritis pretty much in both my knees so any type of high impact or knee intensive workouts are out for me. But I agree with a couple of others here that most of Cathe's workouts can be easily modified down if they have the potential to hurt your knees. Don't give up on the workout completely, but next time you try it just have some mods in mind you can sub for some of the moves she does. I did Cardio Supersets for the first time today and I pretty much had to modify almost the whole thing as it was so heavy squat and lunge intensive. I still got in an awesome workout doing that and can't wait to do it again.
