Gym Style Legs

Cathlete
I think I expect too much from myself. When I did GS Legs, I was only able to do the Standing leg work the first time. I was not completely fried but felt that I should stop there. That was Wednesday, I still feel DOMS today, Friday. I was going to try to do the floor work later that day (Wednesday evening) but thought better of it. Opinions??

Also, should I just stick with the standing leg work for a couple of weeks until I can add in the floor work or should I alternate? Please, someone let me know by next Tuesday night- I plan to do legs again next Wednesday.

I think I will post in Ask Cathe too- sorry for the multiple post, but I really need the answer soon.

Thanks all!!

Congrats on completing the standing for the 1st time! It isnt easy at all.
You'll get alot of feedback I'm sure so you'll have to figure out what works for you.
I started doing 1 day of standing legs and 1 day of floor/wt'ed work (3 days in between) about 3 months ago. I have to say my legs started toning down and gaining some great definition and strength this way. I think it was just that I couldnt give standing and floor work 100% power in the same day.... Based on results I will continue to do it this way. You can do several floor routines from different DVDs to make a full 30-60 minute lower floor & that really works them!
I also like doing multiple DVD floor because Cathe hits the legs differently in each of them. Using your Mix n Match option makes it really easy to do!
Good Luck in finding what works for your body!

Hi...I posted this to you on the Ask Cathe forum also. I'm not Cathe(obviously) but I'll give you my advice for what it's worth. The fist time I did GS Legs I had DOMS for almost a week after and I only did the standing leg work too. I definitely think you did the right thing by stopping and not doing the floor work later. There is a point where muscle soreness becomes muscle strain and then it can lead to injury and you won't be able to work out at all.

As for going forward, I think you should wait to see how you feel. Your body let you know this week when it had enough and it will do so in the future. Next Wednesday, you may only feel you can do the standing work or you may feel like you can do the standing work and a few of the floor exercises. I know for me it took a couple of weeks before I was able to do the whole thing. I do work legs more than once a week, though, and, therefore, was doing other lower body work which may have help me build up my endurance to complete all of GS Legs sooner. HTH

Butterflygurl,

I think you are doing just fine. I believe you are doing what you are suppose to do. Eventually you will get stronger, and then (and only then) you can move on to the next level. You are listening to your body and keeping it safe. Good for you!

I love Gym Style Legs! At first I had this same difficulty. Have you tried to do one of the timesaver options that allows you to do a little of both? This might help so that you can get the benefits of both standing and floor work. Hope this helps!!
