Guilty secret website

Janice-
With all the muscle you have developed, weight is completely irrelevant. Therefore, comparing yourself by weight to the typical American woman who does no weight training at all is meaningless for you. If you want to do a fair comparison, take a body fat measurement and compare that to the typical American woman. You will be in the highest possible percentile!

If I were you, I would throw my scale away! :D

Your pal,
Nancy

It's all my fault. I deserve to be baked in a microwave like popcorn:

I've gone smilie crazy!! Wish I could find a smilie of a really fit woman throwing her scale out the window, Janice!! That should be you! :D

I experimented alittle, 1st I put my real weight & was in the 17th% but I'm a pear and have fat to lose on my thighs & butt. Then I put in my ideal weight and I was 7%.

But what was really interesting was I put in my husbands calculations, he's all muscle & his BMI came up as overweight & 36%.

Hey, I'm in the 19th percentile and feel like a moose compared to you all. Don't get me starting another "peanut" thread! It's definitely an ego-boost site but I think other stuff has to be considered. Like Bobbi's tummy. And my JLo butt! (edit: if I REALLY looked like JLo and her butt I wouldn't be complaining!) Alexis

Janice...I'm in the 37th percentile so I think we're doing pretty darn good if we're under 50. I have also built a lot of muscle (no flab whatsoever) from working out too so these numbers really don't mean too much when you're going just by the scale.

:)

I'm only 5'3" (on a good day!) and my body WILL NOT go below 125 without STARVING. Right now I'm 134.5 (according to my Tanita...Tatina...whatever scale) and I'm trying to get back below 130. I'm in the 31st percentile, and there is just no way I can get to the 8th. Right now I wear a 4-6, so I guess I'm doing okay...it's always nice to have some baseline numbers, even if they're relative.

Well, the bad news is I am overweight, but I knew that:), the good news is I am no longer obese:7 :7, which was where I was 2 weeks post partum (baby # 5)

14 down, 36 (or so) to go

Good for you, Maggie! Are you nursing? I found with baby 3, my last, that I held onto about 15 pounds until I quit nursing and then it was pretty easy. Of course, I nursed for 15 months! Keep up the great work! And give yourself time. It takes 9 months to lose your shape to a baby, it should take AT LEAST that long to get it back. That's how it was for me!

CinDee,
We sound the same! I'm 5'4" and 131. I was 128 for about 2 days last month. I would love to lose just a bit more, but at the same, I'm thankful that I can wear cute sized 4-6 clothes and I've never heard anyone refer to me as "the chubby one" or anything. I don't know what people do get down in the 110s but I'll keep working out. A 22.5 BMI isn't the worst thing in world.
Have a great day~

Janice,

Like you I was in the 49th percentile (5'6" at 155lbs). I agree with Nancy though. When I've asked anyone to guess my weight they've never guessed so high - muscles and genetics really makes a difference. I'd rather throw these calculations away and just go by how my clothes fit. I don't even own a scale!:7

Yes I am nursing, but I have been losing weight eating around 2300 cal per day, so I figure that at this point its helping:7, when I get down to the last 15 lbs, maybe it will hinder me:p At this point I'd love to have just 15 lbs to go, but my goal is to lose it all in a year (around a lb a week, which is about what I've been averaging up til now)

Thanks for the encouragement!
Maggie

Amy,
Don't know if you'll check this thread again (I forgot myself!), but I agree about the 110s...even the low 120s! I would look emaciated if I weighed that little. My family (all obese except my dad) think I'm too thin as it is. Yeah, 125 or so would be neat. I'm heading to Mexico in May so I have a bikini goal...fortunately EVERYONE wears bikinis there regardless of body size or type! I'll keep working at it too...
