Gray Hair?

When did everyone start getting gray hair? Or do you have any at all? The girl I run with is 38 and she doesn't have any gray hair. About 4 m ago I noticed I had about 3 gray hairs on the top of my head:eek: And I pulled them out LOL I never beleived that more would grow back like they say but I think there as.I have more now.
I am only 27 and I know it has to start somewhere:-( So i was just wondering how fast and furious this will start? I guess I should go by my own parents.My mom is getting pretty gray/white but she still as some of her own color and she will be 59 this yr.
Anyway..just thought I'd ask.

Got my first grey hair at 22! It's been creeping up ever since then, slowly but steadily. I hope I'm more like my dad (85, still has mostly jet black hair), than my mom, who was salt and pepper by her 50s. Grey is definitely more noticeable when you have dark hair. x(
 
My hair is brown but of course you can't notice the 10 I have.DH as black hair and he is getting very gray.But his dad is totally white so I know whats headed my way!:)An old fart for a husband! LOL

I have been lucky...or blessed...:)...I am 47 and my hairdressers have found only 2 gray hairs on my head over the last 20 years that I have had my hair done. I have never seen any myself. My DH on the other hand started getting gray at about 25 (just a few years after we got married!!)...:)
 
I'm 46 years old and I don't have any yet, but my DH is quite a few years younger than I am and he is all gray (he started in his 30s). It really depends on your genes (My dad didn't start until his mid-50s).

I'll be 30 next month and I had to starting coloring mine this year. I can't even tell you how many, but pulling them out no longer became an option.

I noticed my first gray hairs at 16. Started coloring my hair at 24. I'm now 43 and I think I am probably 80-90% gray. Don't really know since I cover those roots as soon as they show. My poor DD noticed her gray hair at 13. (She secretly hates me for passing on this trait) She has been color her hair since she was sixteen.

What's weird is I have one sister who went gray very early like me, but the other two didn't start to get gray hair until their 30's.

I'm 38 and haven't found any yet. I have the same really dark brown hair my Dad has, and he started graying around his mid 40s, so I'm expecting I'll follow his lead. I think genetics plays a major role here.
 
It all depends on genes. I never remembered my father with anything but gray hair and I have followed suit. OTOH my mother really didn't start getting gray until her 60's. For me the gray started about age 17 but really came in strong while I was in my 30's. For years I would highlight and color my hair to hide it but stopped 6-8 years ago. It was just getting too expensive and time-consuming. Honestly I get more compliments about my hair now than I did when I was younger.

IMO don't sweat the small stuff. You can't stop it! If it bothers you then it's easy enough to color.
 
I started going grey very early -- early 30s. Now I'm more "salt" than "pepper". Used to get it highlighted, tried coloring, now I just go au naturelle. My grey is real silvery, and I've grown to like the look. I wear it short and cropped. I even get compliments!!
 
I've had gray hairs for YEARS! I got more after I got pregnant and they just keep on comin'! LOL I'm too lazy to constantly dye my hair though so I deal...such is the life of a 30-something I guess! :p
 
I think I was 21. There are plenty of theories out there as to why some people get them earlier than others, why some get them more quickly, etc., etc., etc. I know heredity has a lot to do with it.

Mid-30's, I think, but I've been coloring so long I can't really be sure. ;-)

My mom and dad both have pure white - white, not gray - hair. It seems to be genetic as all of my grandparents were white-headed, too. I am hoping to be white and not gray, and when I get to a point where I think the white is the primary color on my head (as opposed to the sprinkling I can see when I need a touch-up), I will probably just let the color grow out because I think a full, thick head of pure white hair is just gorgeous!

My hairdresser and I figured out not too long ago that I have been coloring my hair for about 10 years. I am 50. I didn't have a lot of gray hair, but it all seemed to be in one very obvious place.
 
I found my first grey hair on Christmas night of 1988, how's that for specific:7 I was pregnant with our first child so I was 26. The grey has been coming slowly but surely since then. I'm glad that I don't have to use permanent colour to cover it, the rinses still do a good job of that. My Mother and Sister were full grey in their mid 20's and my Brother's bald so I figure I'm alright.

I was 17 when I seen my first. Now it is out of control, but I dye my hair every 2 weeks so you would never know. I wouldn't be pulling a few strands of gray hair out unless you want to see more much quicker. LOL! My DH still does not have any gray hair and he is 40!!!!

Lori, I think it's totally hereditary. I have a friend who has been coloring her gray since her twenties. My family grays VERY late, especially on my Dad's side. My 78-yr. old aunt is still only about 50% gray! So, just look at your relatives and you'll have a pretty good idea where you stand.

My DH's dad went completely gray (white, actually) in his 20's! He died his hair a very dark brown for gosh...30-40 years! He was dying it when DH and I first got together. At some point prior to our wedding someone convinced him to stop...it was hard for him but he did it and ya know what? He looks BETTER now that he went natural. His hair is not an ugly color...to me, he looks more distinguished now!:)

My dad, on the other hand, started going bald in his 20's! LOL

Great hair genes, huh? :p
 
I'm 37 and I don't have any white hairs on my head, but I do have one stray white hair in my right eyebrow that keeps returning after each plucking!! I also think that it is totally hereditary. My father, who is almost 61, is just starting to turn white (I think I will be like him), but my mother started getting gray in her 20's and so did my younger brother (he's 33 now and has quite a bit of white in his hair). Better my brother than me, since he looks very handsome with the white streaks through his black hair :) :)
