Good Protein Powders

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good tasting protein powder that mixes well with water. I have Designer Whey and it tastes awful when mixed with water. I am trying to avoid excess calories by not using juice, milk etc.

Thanks.

You could try Myoplex. It's extremely thick and I think it's gross. I really, really like Designer Whey. After I work out, I use 2 scoops of DW with some strawberries, blueberries, a banana, a tablespoon and a half of peanut butter, ice cubes, 10 ounce of skim milk and throw them in the blender. It's delicious. I think pretty much all the protien powder but DW tastes like sh*t. A friend said ProBlend55 is pretty good. I haven't tried it only because it's 40 dollars for the container. I don't think there's really a protien powder that tastes real good. People on the forum has said Myoplex lite chocolate is the best but I'm not crazy about the aspartame which is why I've never tried it.

I like Spirutein vanilla. I either mix it with soymilk or juice. I haven't tried it with water, I just mix it in as small amount of liquid as I can to minimize calories. The soymilk is mostly just more protein.

I haven't tried too many kinds because I like this one.

GROW by biotest; it tastes good and is an excellent source of protein. You can get it at netrition.com. There are two versions low carb and regular. I mix the low carb chocolate with 1/2 cup frozen cottage cheese, 2 tsp peanut butter...tastes like a butterfinger shake. I also make a low carb vanilla shake with water, and oatmeal tossed in.

If you don't mind artificial sweeteners try mixing your vanilla powder with your favorite flavour of Crystal Light. I will also mix my chocolate powder with half 1% milk and half water with about 4 ice cubes. I find the ice thickens the shake up and makes it colder which improves the flavour. Good luck :9

Sometimes I throw in a little sugar free jello or sugar free pudding in my protein powders. It adds a whole new range of flavors.

I use Designer Whey on occasion but I can't just mix it with water. I agree, it doesn't taste good with water. I typically will mix two scoops in a blender with 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, frozen or fresh blueberries, packet of Splenda, and a 1/2 - 3/4 cups of water. It tastes pretty good and the cottage cheese gives it a nice consistency and extra protein. Calories - about 305.

I also like Designer Whey. I mix one scoop with some skim milk and ice in a blender. I love the crushed ice, it reminds me of a frappuccino. It's yummy and about 200 calories.
