GMA Cathe/Susan Powter

I should be working out now but I've got the TV on and waiting for Cathe and her Doctor's piece on GMA. The incessant 'coming up on GMA' has mentioned 'fitness guru' Susan Powter is on the show today and pictures her stepping barefoot onto a piece of red foam that somewhat resembles a step while alternately raising one arm then the other overhead. I have this image of Cathe coming on set in fine form and gently roundhousing Ms. Powter off the set and commencing to show America how to use that step and show them what a fitness 'guru' really is. I'd love to be a fly on the wall if they are in the 'green room' together.:)

I saw that too! At least she's not sporting the bleached buzz haircut anymore. I had to leave for work so didn't get to stay and watch the rest of the show.

I hear you Laurie, there's Susan Powter, then there's CATHE!!!. Just no comparison. I watched the show and I really don't think they realize just who Cathe is and what she's done for so many people!! I know the segment was not really about Cathe, but they didn't do her any justice.

I have to say that Susan's message is definitely a good one albeit manic in her delivery. She obviously appeals to many but the 'educated crowd' over here are the proverbial choir and we'd rather the 'preacher' demonstrate how to walk the walk, or step the step in a truly challenging way. Like they say, if one person gets the message from Ms. Powter then it's worth it. She made me chuckle saying, 'if it glows in the dark, or is flourescent, don't eat it!':+

I really have nothing against Susan Powter, haven't seen her around in a long time. She does have lots of energy but I have never really seen her workouts. I recall she overcame some problems years ago with weight and a crummy marriage so you kind of have to give her credit for pulling herself up. But I AM sorry I missed Cathe's portion this morning!!!

LMAO, Laurie!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

So what happened? I am at work and couldn't watch!

Nothing against Susan Powter, but she is really more for the beginners, I think. It's really too bad Cathe doesn't have her name recognition (or maybe that's good for us!).

Well, quite frankly, I'm happy that Cathe isn't well-known like Susan Powter. The more well-known she becomes, the more she'll have to tailor workouts to a beginner/intermediate market, and that's not why we love her;) We love her because she makes us do Bootcamp - twice:p

What time was she on? I still don't see it on the Good Morning America Website. I'm hoping they have a video we can watch. I DVR'd it this morning...hope I did it right!

Candi, I think she came on around 8:15 or so. The segment ended at 8:22.

I hope Cathe will do a few more intermediate work outs for us sorry cardio lightweights:eek: :p ;( :7

Hey I am excited to see them both!! I started with crazy Susan many years ago. Before that, I never thought about lifting a weight. Of course, she doesn't compare to Cathe but that's the beauty of it, they each have their place.

I'm taping the show (yes taping can you believe it) and I can't wait to see it.

I don't think everyone should be the same. Otherwise, we'd have a Stepford Wife world. Susan's cool, a little out there but cool :) It takes all kinds to make the world we live in :)

I try to embrace diversity and not shun from it :)

They really didn't "tease" it at all - I almost thought they'd cut it out.

And we do it - she knocks us down and we get up again and keep coming back for more! Aren't we the luckiest to have found her? She was fantastic on GMA!

I agree whole heartedly and will add, we love her more because she 'makes' us WANT to explore the challenge of doing BCx2 and she 'makes' us believe that we CAN, because WE CAN! :D

Cathe just gets more beautiful by the day, doesn't she? Absolutely stunning! How lucky are we to "know" her? VERY! Loved the segment and she did us proud!

I DO agree that Susan had a good message, and it was not sugar coated at all with outlandish promises. Sort of like the Dr. Phil-ism for changing behavior: you exchange one behavior with another. AND the message about life-style, in essence, don't go on a diet for your fourth of July vacation, but instead change your life style and get thinner for the long haul.

Did anyone notice...

I really don't want to put any negative spin on Cathe's GMA appearance, but did anyone else feel as if Charlie was a little, hhmm, how to say it.....snide to our beloved Cathe?
Honestly, I didn't get to see it in full, just bits and pieces at first. So when I rewound it and really watched it, I was thinking, Back off our Girl, Charlie!! ("Shouldn't a fitness instructor know better?") I was very proud of Cathe's composure. He was just acting like she's a run of the mill instructor (even the way he said the word...aaahhhh!!!)

I do NOT want to be the one to send a negative thread, it just really bothered me and I'm wondering if it was just me. I'm going to end this here, because the more I think of it, the more indignant I get on her behalf!!

Sorry kids but Susan Powter is cool and if she inspires people get change their lifestyles she's even cooler (and of course richer). I appreciate her postive energy. Her wacky hair (which I think looks cute) and spastic personality are part of getting noticed. Instead of looking at obese people with disdain or chastising them(as it appears a few posters on the board have been prone to do--I am pointing the finger at no one specific here. I've just noticed it here and there) she's encouraging them to get fit, albeit in a capitalist world as is Cathe. Everyone has got to start somewhere and for many larger people taking that first step they turn to Susan Powter or Richard Simmons or Gilad. Maybe with any luck they graduate to Cathe or whoever. Either way, it's not about a popularity contest. It's about our own journey to be being a better person, inside and out. BTW, I did think Cathe looked like a super stylin' GMA. :)

RE: Did anyone notice...

That guy seems to be a bit of a goober but I think his point was that it happens to the best of us so even demigods (lol!) like Cathe are suseptible to injury. I was pleased that they included a DVD clip.
