getting back into working out

Hi! It has been so long since I posted here....a couple of months ago, my workouts became sporadic - almost nonexistant really. I haven't really gained much weight (maybe a couple of pounds), but my fitness level is down the pooper. So I have been attempting my advanced Cathe DVD's and am REALLY struggling. I have been looking at Low Impact Step + Total Body Sculpting just to get me up to a better level of fitness until I can do my other Cathe DVD's. My question is....is that a good idea? Will I be bored? Will it be too easy? Being accustomed to her more challenging workouts, I am afraid it will be a waste of money. Should I just tough it out with the harder ones???? I would appreciate any comments from anyone who has these workouts. Thanks in advance!!! Pam:)

I fit were me, I would just use the DVDs I have and make them less intense somehow. I'll bet it won't take long to build back up to where you were. Melissa

I agree with Melissa. Pam, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how quickly you get back to your earlier level of fitness if you just gut your way thru your current collection, doing what you can and just doing a little more each and every time.

But if you have them, start with Step heat and Step Fit first, because they are easier than the all other Cathe cardios and make good "come back" workouts. These are the two that I use. I usually start back with 1/2 weeks of power walking, with or without the treadmill, with max incline intervals at 4.5 mph and all-out speed intervals at 8 mph, which is actually harder than running! Then I do Step Heat and Step Fit for another couple weeks. Then I'm game for anything!

Hi Pam:

I am finishing my 8th week of a come back after over a year off due to family crisies.

I had WONDERFUL results CTX. So easy on yourself and you will be back in no time.

Let us know what you do and how it goes.

Thank you all for your suggestions...I do have CTX and started by doing it again - that was a really good idea. I also did end up ordering the LIS anyway. It looks like one that you can do on an "easy" day or you can up the intensity by adding extra step height or more weight. My DH and I have been TTC #4 (yikes!) and if we're successful, I know there will be days that I'll appreciate a DVD like LIS/TBS. But I am also taking your suggestions and using the workouts I already have, just downing the intensity (a lot). Thank you to all who responded - Melissa, A-Jock, Clare, and Robyn - thanks!!!! Pam

I'm just getting back into it too. I really liked LIS and Basic Step / Body Fusion for the first two weeks. And I've been modifying the other workouts I have, lowering the step and taking out some of the jumps.

I'm 22 weeks pregnant, and was so "blah" the first trimester that I did nothing. I decided I needed to start again, but gradually.

This week I also started doing CTX Upper Body Split -- one section per day. I'll do that for 2 weeks and then move on to the Gym Styles.

Good luck with TTC!

When I was hiatus, I got back on track with the Firm DVD's. I still kept some and Billy Blanks Tae-Bo, I then progressed to C&W and SJP. From there you pretty much know what you can tackle. I always kept some Firms for times when things happen that you can not get that workout in for whatever reason.

You know, when I got so into Cathe, I sold all of my Firm and TaeBo on eBay!!! Now I'm thinking, maybe that wasn't a good idea!!! Oh well, what's done is done! Pam:D
