Fun in the Gym

Cathlete
Hiya, Cathe,
My son wanted to learn how to edit videos, so we made a video of our play-around time at gymnastics. I feel grateful to you that I can return to my love of gymnastics, even if it is just for the purpose of goofing off with my kids. It takes a lot of muscle to do those old tricks, huh? :)

Thanks so much! :)
Amy

Here's our goofy video. :)

Wow Amy, that looked like so much fun. I was never in gymnastics or anything like that and I wish I knew how to do flips and stuff like that. How great is it that you could bond with your kids like that and have lots of fun. I'm sure your kids will have good memories of mom being able to keep up with them!!! I love it when parents let loose and have fun with their kids. I don't see that with a lot of parents and that's sad. Keep on having fun!!!

Amy,
Thanks for sharing the video. I'm impressed with what you can do. I used to do gymnastics, but would be afraid to try much more than a cartwheel or handstand. My back doesn't bend like it used to. LOL I agree that there is a lot of muscle used for those tricks and its great that you that can do them and have fun with your kids. Man, have gym clubs come a long way since I did gymnastics. We only had the basic mats and old fasion elevated trampolines. Now the clubs have the spring mats and sunken trampolines, training foam pits etc. That's pretty cool.

You are so right, Jean! Gone are the days of falling on your head. ;) You can really learn those new tricks in succession. First into a pit, then landing on a trampoline (even with a spotting belt, if you want), then on a tumble track, then the spring floor. It is SO nice!

And who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? My son has taught me how to do a full twisting layout in the last few weeks, and an arabian, and land a double front on the crash mat.... SO much fun!!!! I can't even tell you how much I love it!

If you have a gym nearby, they might have an adult class. Several gyms around us have them. The skill level is always quite varied, and everyone is there to have fun.

I had about a 15 year span when I wouldn't have attempted anything, maybe a cartwheel or a round-off, but I got tired of feeling sluggish and crappy. Cathe truly inspired me to reclaim my old self a few years ago, and I am loving it! :D Thanks, Cath!!
Hugs!

I have a theory that people who were trained in gymnastics as children have an easier time staying fit and trim as adults because they've somehow "taught" their body all the right things they need to do to *stay* fit and trim.

Of course, that's just my unscientific observation. But it seems as though a lot of the fittest and thinnest people I know personally or about (Cathe included!) were gymnasts as children.

Kind of makes me wish I had bagged the piano lessons!

Thanks, Kathy,
:) I think say it is goofy because we aren't taking ourselves seriously. :) Thanks- we do have fun up there, and it is definitely good bonding.
Amy

Oh my did that look fun...I must admit I still think it would tired me out fast, it is something else fun to think about though. What kind of video editing software did you use? I haven't really tried that either. I'm sure cathe will enjoy this as much as the rest of us did.

Hi, Angel,
We used iMovie HD for that. It is so easy...a 10 year old made that video. :)

Oh Amy, that looks like so much fun. You still look so amazing. Keep up the good work...your kids are blessed to have such a fun Mom! (Tell your son...GREAT JOB!)

Wow, thanks for sharing Amy! That looks like PURE FUN!!! I loved watching this and it brought me down memory lane. You and your kids display some great talent there. This was just the motivation I needed to continue baking another couple of batches cookies before turning in. Thanks for the "lift" :7

It is PURE FUN! :D
