Frozen Shoulder

Hi Cathe,

I have recently been diagnosed with a right frozen shoulder. My PT said that it i should try to move it and not be afraid of pain. I was wondering if there were certain modifications for upper body work that I could still do or if I should just stick to a lower body rotation and cardio. Any recommendation would be highly appreciated. It's so disappointing watching my arms grow fat lol.

After my Lt rotator cuff repair, I did Travel Fit for a while and it really helped rework my shoulder. Then I did Low Impact series stuff for a while loner after that, esp. Upper body tri sets. I feel they are more joint friendly. Then when I was okay, I still did certain moves the way they felt good to me and not the way Cathe was doing them. Like shoulder presses, I always now use dumbbells and have my arms at a 45 degree angle instead of straight out to the side (hope that makes sense). Cathe even says to do what feels right for you. But I would say start light and see how you feel. Best of luck. I still have issues with my shoulders so I know how you feel.

Another option for shoulder presses is to lean back slightly- adjust your weight bench if you have one, or sit on the floor with a stability ball between you and the wall and lean against that. I agree that dumbells are more joint friendly than a barbell. Things like concentration curls and preacher curls should be OK, and will keep your arms in shape.
I'd give tricep dips a miss. Perhaps lying extensions instead?
best of luck

Thank you both :) I have trisets and LIS. I may look into travel fit.
