Fitness magazine. Worth $6 for a year?

I used to get Fitness magazine, but outgrew it, I guess. The workouts were blah, same old skinny models, etc. However, we got a "special" offer to get a year subscription for $6. Do you think it's worth it?

I don't like Fitness magazine. Most of the articles and workouts seem uninspired. I outgrew that magazine years ago. I think that I woud take my six dollars and put it toward a subscrption to 'Muscle and Fitness Hers' magazine.

Another vote for Oxygen...

Now those are some fit women! None of the skinny toothpicks that you see in other mags.

By the way, I also like Women's Health, which is generally a good read every month.

Even though I also outgreww Fitness mag yrs ago I still receive via free add on from friends subscription. Hers is my absolute favorite but I have found a few good articles regarding eating & other things in Fitness as well as Self, Shape & Womens Health. This year the only one I am renewing is Hers though. May take a look at Oxygen. :D

I will look into the other magazines you all suggested. I've gotten Oxygen in the past. I think I got tired of all the ads for Hydroxycut, etc. But I do know there is some good info in there. I'll look into M&F Hers and the Women's Health too. I'm savin' my 6 bucks and putting it towards something worthwhile!

I outgrew Fitness and Shape long ago. It's been MFHers and Oxygen for a long time. It would be a bargain for someone just starting, but if you never read it or it offers you nothing it's $6 you could have applied towards the cost of a magazine you can get excited about getting. Skip it.

I'm a magazine junkie. OMG..my house looks like a Hair Salon sometimes! I stopped getting Fitness, but if it was offered to me for $6 a year, I probably would get it. There's got to be SOMETHING in it worth $6 a year! Though it was the first magazine I willingly stopped subscribing to because of the same reasons above.

Out of my HOARD of monthly magazines, my favorite is Women's Health. I used to really like Prevention when i got it too.

Aaack! Ok, now you guys are making me reconsider it again...it'd be much easier if I got an offer for a magazine I REALLY wanted for $6.

Maybe you could try browsing a free sample site. Slickdeals is a good one. It has a freebie forum with a seperate magazine section and I got two years of Fitness magazine for free there. It recently expired I saw a couple of new links there for Fitness but I didn't get another one. Right now I have a two year subscription of Shape. If they don't have it 6 dollars is pretty good price. love Oxygen magazine though.

Another vote to forgo Fitness - I think it's a pretty mediocre magazine. One thing that always concerns me is what list i'm going to get on by subscribing. I get so much junk - in the mail, email and phone calls. I find a call from Conde Nast on my caller ID almost every other day, which I believe is because of a Men's Fitness subscription. I really wish they would leave us alone!

I'm with Boingo on all counts - I'd get it for $6. Heck, even if there were some recipes or workout hints, there's bound to be something in there for that. Pretty cheap. You get what you pay for, I guess.

I am also a magazine hoarder. I'd hate to add up what I spend on magazine subscriptions per year. Oxygen and Women's Health are my faves.

I agree with one poster, though. As I was reading the latest Oxygen magazine last night, I found it ironic that Tosca Reno was on one side of the page touting clean eating/exercise, and on the opposite page was a huge ad for hydroxycut or some other crap. That irks me.

Ha, Chris - I feel like my home is a beauty salon as well - with all the mags I get. I do enjoy Fitness - but my fave is Women's Health. I just started receiving Oxygen and while I do like some of the articles - it is very much geared toward women who compete in Fitness in my opinion - I still like it though.

On the non-fitness magazine front - for those of you women in their 40s or older - I LOVE More magazine, which is geared toward us "mature" women and which has feature articles, fashion and beauty articles, etc. that I can actually RELATE and appreciate!

I just got my Fitness in the mail today. I like it. I've found some good treadmill workouts in it as well as recipes. I agree with Mary. I get a ton of magazines-fitness, beauty, and home. My favorite fitness mag is Women's Health, too. Oxygen is really geared toward competitors although I still pick it up on occasion. For $6, I'd get Fitness.
