RE: FINALLY Some
Gosh, you all are so sweet. Thanks for all of the kind words. I'll try to answer some questions. Here is something I posted on the Hardcores yesterday for starters (warning: I write long posts!):
"I did an hour of cardio 6 days a week and lifted 2-3 days a week. I planned to lift 3 days and really would recommend that, but it gets to be a lot of time working out and some days I just ran out of time and toward the end was only lifting 2. But I always got in an hour of cardio and then when cycling season really hit (late here due to weather) my cardio sessions got longer, but that wasn't until probably about 7 weeks into it and I had already lost 10 pounds. I also really cut down my portions - a lot! It was very HARD! I'm not sure I'd recommend cutting that much, but I wanted to be sure to lose it before DH was finished being gone. They say you shouldn't go on a "diet" but I knew if I could get to a certain point then I could maintain it by eating smaller portions and I just didn't want to take 6 months to do it because I wasn't sure I would."
On what workouts: I did A LOT of Cardio Coach on the elliptical for my cardio before cycling season. I LOVE CC's. I can't do a lot of step b/c I have bursitis in my hip from 20 years of running. A marathon when I was 38 finally did me in (I kept running for another year). Docs said if I kept running it would just keep coming back. So I switched to cycling thanks to DH. I would do Imax 2 about once every couple of weeks b/c I LOVE that workout. I will admit to running a few times with my dogs - only b/c DH was gone.
I pay for it though with step and running. I also did some cycling indoors on my trainer. My weight workouts varied from free weights to my Smith machine to Cathe workouts. My favorites are her total body workouts - ME, Bootcamp (b/c of the cardio), Power Hour - I reach for these over and over.
On P90X: I don't really think my results are from P90X since I finished that in February. I did take after pics, but they weren't too pretty. I didn't eat terribly well and I believe what they say about 80% or something like that being what you put in your mouth. But I do LOVE P90X (and Tony) and will probably do it again and eat better but I'll add in more cardio. That's just me.
Eating Habits: See above. Plus I will say that I ate NO JUNK. I had NO cheat days. Oh wait, I did eat those Slim Fast Peanut Butter Crunch bars sometimes in the afternoons. They taste just like Butterfingers. Yummy! I guess that's a cheat, huh? Now I have one cheat day a week again. But I don't go hog wild. I've been back to eating "normal" but healthy since June 7th and have not gained one pound. I was so nervous but I'm eating smart.
Shelley - I hang out over at the Hardcores Check-in. You should stop in. I miss your witty self!
Kassia - Thanks - DH keeps telling me I look hot. Gotta love that. He's 8 years younger than I am and I'll be 45 in August, so this is a good thing!
Gettingstrong - I really think it is Cardio Coach on the elliptical that did that to my butt. That or cycling but I've been cycling for about 5 years and my butt hasn't looked like that until now.
Reese - I got the suit at Target a couple of years ago. They always have a lot of suits with boy short bottoms. Those just cover cellulite better.
Jody - Buoyant - I like that! Nope, I don't think so. I'm tellin' ya, it's Cardio Coach on the elliptical. Those workouts are killer! And they've done amazing things for my climbing ability on the bike this year too.
Thanks again for all of your great comments. You guys are the best!
Suz
