HI Everyone,
I don't know if you remember a while back...me complaining about my job.Or I should say the B%^&H that I work for;)? Well,I finally found a job that I could apply on.It is with a airline company from Calgary.Alb.I had my first interview last Tuesday(over the phone), and now they are comming here on April 8th for a 2hour interview.
I got a bad stomach just thinking about it.Thats only 10 days away!It is behavorial based interviews so whatever I am, I am right? The only other thing is that it's part-time.So, I thought about staying at my other job part-time.It wouldn't be as hard working there part-time b/c I would be so busy I wouldn't have to listen to my boss whining. But she might not want me there part-time.Shes like that.
If I get the job, I will have to go to Alberta for 3 weeks of training. For me, thats on the other side of the country.I have never been anywhere for very long,I'm sure I would get pretty homesick.Hopefully, they will have a gym in the hotel :7 That always comes in my mind to.Anyway,I just wanted to let every one know whats go'in on in my life.I will post again the day of the interview...
Lori

Good Lori,
Great outlook on the interview! What will you be doing for the airline? I have worked for three different ones, so I can help you if needed. I've been thinking of you; when is your trip to Mexico?

Good luck Lori! I wish I lived closer to you, because I am just going to a new hair person.

You would not believe the prices they charge here (e-mail me if you want to hear it) for a color and cut! The charge also includes expertise, organizational skill and discipline to help me continue to let my hair grow! But the beauty industry is alive and well here in Northern Calif.

Anyway I hope your next venture is a constructive experience! If it doesn't work out that means something better will! I'm rootin' for you!

Thanks everyone....I forgot that I posted this.I just remembered,so I thought I better have alook.I figure that I will always have my trade.I can always go back to hairstyling if I want.
I will be a customer service rep.Taking tickets, helping the elder onto the flight.Things like that.Yep,you can diffently give me some pointers.I really don't know much about the job or what they are actaully looking for.I just applied and got an interview.I am going to go into their website and find some info that may help me through the interview.

I know, prices for hair are crazy. It is probably not near as bad here but the elder still manage to complain. They want something done for nothing.I can't believe that you have to pay money for them to tell you how to grow your hair out.
DawnA:
My trip got changed to the Dominican Republic.I have started preparing for that but we will see how this job goes.I can bet money on it that traing will be the sametime as my trip. But no one knows what may happen. There could be someone there a lot more qualified then I,
Anyway, thanks for your vote of confidence ladies,Everyone on this site manages to lift my spirits:7 One week from tomorrow!!!!

Lori, my hairstylist here in Puerto Rico has a mercedes convertible. Brand new one!! Deep Red color!!

He charges a small fortune for mu highlights and cut (150 dollars) therefore, I am letting my hair grow!! But have to be a blonde even at those prices!!

Good luck in your new career. You will do just great.

new mom..exercise maniac wannabee

Yes Lori I have to pay to be told how to eat (with a food diary) and exercise too! I *know* it but I don't *do* it until I pay someone to tell me to do it!! LOL

Well, rest asure that this chicky ain't drving no mercedes. You could probably make some crazy money at this job when you live in big cities. Not in this little town. There is only a population of 10,000 people and there are moer then 8 salons. Each salon probably has 5 people working in them.
I'm doing o.k but it isn't really about the money anymore. It was always about my boss but for the past week she seems to be comming along,or maybe I am just getting use to it;-)
Oh my, 1 week from today......
Lori

Hi Lori,
You will do just great at the inteview. Stop worrying! They want gate agents who are friendly, outgoing, not easily frustrated and above all professional. That is your personality already! Just relax and smile. Training away from home can be fun too. I did miss my kids, but they were with my DH who is a lot more fun than me, or so they said. I got to train in Minneapolis for one of my weeks, and our hotel was right across the street from the Mall of America. A lot of the husbands came to visit on the weekends, but we didn't always get the weekends off. The other weeks I trained here in Detroit, because my former airline has hubs in Minneapolis and Detroit. The tests are tough, I won't kid you. Memorizing city codes is mind boggling, and the Canadian codes don't have any rhyme or reason to them. I'm not sure what else the gate agents do, since that is one thing I've never done. I have done reservations and flight attendant, and I do think people are more polite in person than on the phone. One other thing: everyone wants to sit in first class, and that is a big no-no. Smile and politely tell them that you can certainly do that for them, and that you just need to quickly check the fare difference. That will usually make them back off unless they really want to pay it.:) Wear a suit to the interview, and make sure to look ultra professional. Our policies were so funny, it was required that we have "boarding lips", meaning we had to have lipstick on when the passengers boarded the aircraft. Email me if I can help you in anyway! Pleae keep us updated after you interview!
Take care,
Dawn

Shelley!!!!!
What? You're right here????I have been dying to find someone to run on the path with me at Metro, or behind the hospital off Jefferson near Shook. Please tell me you want to try running? I need someone to push my butt along! Yes, I used to commute, but I only worked 72 hrs. per month, so it wasn't so bad. Glad to "meet" you:)
Dawn

Thanks Dawna. He told me that you have to get 85% on all of your exams and then 85% on the final exam.Of course my husband thinks it is no big deal.I never thought about having to memeorize the codes for each airport.I should start now:7 Next week this time I will have it over with.
I probably will have some questions later this week.I am going to go to their website and check some stuff out.I don't know how much it will benefit me but it won't hurt.
Thanks again,
Lori
