Favorite Christmas carols!!!!

:D Tis the season for Christmas carols and I was wondering what your favorite carols are. I like "Silent Night," "First Noel", and Paul McCartney and Wings "Wonderful Christmas Time" among many others!

A few years ago Pottery Barn put out a collection of CD's entitled A Cool Christmas and I enjoy hearing jazz versions of some of the traditional carols. I also have a soft spot for tunes like Elvis' Blue Christmas, Santa Baby, and Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.

But the carol to me that is Christmas and brings tears to my eyes (especially if done by a really good choir), is O Holy Night.

Lori, if I could tack on to your thread the question, 'what's your favorite holiday special?'. Mine is 'Year without a Santa Claus'. I just love the Mr. Heat Miser song:)

The Chipmunks Christmas Song!! LOL!! "Me I want a hula-hoop!!" Seriously ... I love the traditional ones like "Silent Night", "Oh Come All Ye Faithful", and "O Holy Night", but there are so many from which to choose! I think we must have about 30 CD's of Christmas music in the house, including works by composers like Handel and Bach, and we play them from after Halloween until well after New Year's! We're sort of Christmas junkies in this house!!

:D Oh I love all the classic Christmas specials such as "Year without a Santa Claus" We had to pick up a copy of this for my daughter as she just loves Mr. Hot (heat miser) and Mr. Cold (snow miser). Those songs are funny aren't they? I collect these characters along with Rudolph and the misfits!

Without a doubt mine is "Hark the Herald Angels Sing"!! The whole message of Christmas is right there in that song, at least for me personally. Everyone has their own traditions, but mine is very much on the nativity, and it makes me cry just about every time I hear it.

I do love all the others mentioned here as well, and there are many more yet to come. I can't wait to see what is posted and how people may celebrate...or not celebrate;-)

Fun thread!

Silent Night
O holy Night
Away in a manger
Winter Wonderland
a Boob job for christmas
Jingle Bell rock

Those are my most favorite songs of the Christmas Season

Snork!! Chuckle! Chuckle! That one is right up there with Porky Pig's rendition of "Blue Christmas"!! LOL!! I love it!!

I love those classy 40's renditions of Xmas Carols -- anything by Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, etc.
I also like "Run Run Rudolph!" and "Mambo Santa" (these are kind of old too, either from the 50's or 60's, I think).

As for newer songs, I really like Whitney Houston's Joy to the World (from the Preacher's Wife Soundtrack). But for the most part, I stick with the classics! :)

I like "All I want for chirstmas is my two front teeth." Brings back lots of memories from my childhood. My mom would play that every chirstmas season. My brother and I would sing along, ah, good times, goodtimes....

Ohhh, I love O Holy Night! I think that certain songs take on whole new meaning when certain people sing them, and if I am not mistaken Celine Dion does an amazing version of this one in particular. I have it playing in my head, and I am fairly sure it is her.

I also love Stevie Nicks singing Silent Night.

I will add that the Frosty the Snowman cartoon is a lifelong favorite to watch before Christmas, but one that doesn't go quite as far back into my CHILDhood and that I can't wait to watch every year is "A Christmas Story"!!! There are just way too many scenes in that movie that crack me up every single time I see it. The overstuffed snowsuit, the tongue on the flag pole and of course the leg lamp! Who cannot love that movie.

Miracle on 34h street (the old version), It's a Wonderful Life.....ahhh Christmas:)

My favorite carol would have to be "O Holy Night" and "What Child is This". And of course I love all the traditional songs.

Rudolf (sp?) and Frosty the Snowman bring back memories. We would always watch these on Christmas Eve; it sure built up the anticipation for Christmas morning. Also love "Holiday Inn" with Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and the second female's name escapes me. I get all warm and fuzzy when they sing "White Christmas". ;-)

Are any of you familiar with the film, Prancer? It was filmed where my family lives in Michigan and I love to watch it and take an instant trip home for the holidays! I know Main Street really well and it's a hoot to know that if you go up the road and turn left you'll be at my sister's house.
