RE: Fat Loss: Clean Eating vs
Hm. Yes I agree cutting out an entire food group would be an unhealthy habit...except for vegetarians of course.
As a clarification to my previous post, personally I do eat from all food groups (meat & fish, dairy/egg, vegetables and fruits, whole grains, nuts & healthy fats).
But I don't eat sugar except on very rare occasions. I also don't eat regular breakfast cereal...I stick to oatmeal or kashi. I also don't eat, except for very rare occasions, snack foods like doritos etc or cookies. Except for very rare special treats.
I guess that meets a definition to me of clean eating. But some people might call it obsessive and a disorder? Not sure? Maybe not. Hope not. Anyhow, cutting out the sugar and snack foods has made huge improvements in my skin...when I add them back IN even if only for a day or a meal, I get the cystic acne again that I have struggled for 20 years to clear up to no avail... until I made those specific changes in my eating....those are at least one of the physical changes I alluded to. Squeaky clean eating (to include cutting out breakfast cereal) has done it. If it was all about whether or not I'd fit into my "skinny jeans" I'd probably still be eating them!
So, just thought I'd clarify my previous post....I haven't seen all the posts on clean eating around here...maybe other folks have even more radical restrictions that you are all talking about that I am not aware of...
My issue with "everything in moderation" is that it is rather undefined. Everyone has a different definition, all over the board. 60 percent of americans are overweight and I'd bet that most of that 60 percent also insist they eat "a varied diet...everything in moderation".
