Fat-blasting diet????

Hi everyone! I'm building some great muscle, but having some trouble getting the fat off so I can see them!!! I was wondering if anyone had a good diet plan that I could follow for a while that's focused on fat-blasting (kind of like the fat loss phase of physique transformation). I don't really need a meal plan, but just daily caloric intake and protein/carb/fat percentages. I could do some research and come up with my own, but I'd rather be lazy and ask for your suggestions, especially if there's one that has worked well for you. I know that all body types are different, but I'd love to hear some suggestions!!!!:)

I found that supplementing a relatively clean, portion wise diet with Cod Liver Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, and B vitamins has helped me see definition, especially in the abs.

The Cod Liver oil that I use is the Carlson Norwegan liquid with lemon taste. The lemon flavor does help and it only costs about $20. There are other sources of omega three fatty acids, and other fish oils. With fish oils you have to make sure they are made within good standards and are not contaminated with mercury or organic toxins.

If you make a search on Omega 3 fatty acids, Evening Primrose Oil, and B vitamins (especially B5, pantothenic acid), you will probably find about their many health benefits and how they are somehow connected to improved metabolism. (I'm lazy, too.)

Well, the benefits include better use of the stored fats, muscle tissue preservation, mood regulation, PMS improvement, improved concentration, the prevention of certain disseases, etc. These are nutrients that the body needs every day. These are not miracle cures. It's its deficiency which causes the problems and supplementation corrects or helps with them.

Sorry if this is not the answer you were looking for. I just needed to share my experience, because it amazed me!

Atkins baby! I lost 30 lbs in 6 weeks & have kept it off for 2 years. And it's the easiest diet I've ever done.

Maximus--does Atkins really help to take the fat off?? It has never seemed that way to me b/c it's a higher fat diet. I tried it a few years ago, but I found that restricting carbs that much really affected my energy level and I couldn't work out at a higher intensity for very long. Did it have this affect on you when you first started?? I'm also curious about recommended daily sodium intake to show off the muscles. I know that too much retains water and hides the muscles, but too little can dehydrate you. Just curious.:)

I lost 54 pounds on Atkins and have kept it off for over a year. You have to get through the first 48 hours of carb withdrawal before your energy returns. Also, you need to go through all the phases of the diet just exactly as the book describes. By the time you make it to maintenance the only foods you don't include in your diet are sugar and white flour. You may want to read Atkins for Life as well as Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution.

A lot of people think that Atkins is just high fat and no bread. If you read the book you will learn that it is a healthy way of eating if you do it right.

actually... a much healthier diet than atkins is the south beach diet. south beach promotes whole, healthy foods and includes carbs that are good for you (i.e. whole wheat, brown rice) as well as FRUIT. naturally tons of veggies.. and more importantly... lowe fat.. reduced fat or low fat products (i.e. dairy)

South Beach is a great diet, and a very healthy way to eat. I'm not trying to start a debate on which way of eating is best:) , but I just want to clarify that Atkins also includes fruit after the first two weeks of induction. Atkins also promotes whole, healthy foods and lots of veggies. SB is lower in fat.

I guess that I should clarify that I don't really need to lose that much weight. I'm 5'9'', medium build, and my weight is usually between 138-142. I've been steadily building muscle, but having trouble seeing the definition. I would like to get down to maybe 133-135 by just losing a few pounds of fat, but continuing to build muscle. I know that Atkins and South Beach are recommended for people trying to lose a significant amt of weight, but what about just a couple of pounds of fat?? Just curious!!:D

You're wrong, Ashley.

I only wanted to lose between 5-10 lbs of fat to show definiition just like you. What South Beach did for me was switch my eating too many carbs to lots more protein and complex carbs. I lost maybe only 5 lbs but gained much more definition, especially in my mid-section.

ok, I must have missed it. What was I wrong about?? I will definitely be checking out the south beach diet b/c I already eat very healthy anyways, but like I said I'm just having some trouble shedding this pesky fat.;( thanks for the suggestions!!!

SheRa... south beach is to lose ANY amount! whether it's 5 pounds, 50 pounds or 100 pounds!!

the best thing about it.. is it teaches you better eating habits! i didn't have a lot to lose... but i had HORRIBLE eating habits! i was strict to the point of being anal on south beach til i felt i had taught myself to eat good/healthy on a normal basis.. now i "treat" myself to unhealthy meals occasionally! but i don't fear going back to my old eating habits!

south beach was originally designed for heart patients to teach them to eat healthier.. the weight loss was a side effect!

"I know that Atkins and South Beach are recommended for people trying to lose a significant amt of weight"

Ashley,

This is what I said you were wrong about.
