Thanks for recommending EM. I ordered my sample kit and need some help, please. Remember, I'm makeup stupid, so if these Q's seem stupid and obvious I'm sorry:)

1. Some of the eye and blush colors say it would make a good lip color. How can a powder be a lip color?? Am I missing something?

2. The sample size was so small that a brush wouldn't fit inside to get the powder on to. Is the other sizes the same way? If so, do I need to buy something else to put the powder in?

3. Does it come with brushes, or do I need to buy those?

4. Any other suggestions? Anything you recommend I buy? I am buying the foundation, 2 blush colors, and an eye color so far.

Thank you!!
Jessica

When I started with my sample kit from EM, I had a lot of the same questions and problems as you did.

First of all, I have NO IDEA how a powder becomes a lip color. Sorry, no help there.

You will need a kabuki brush or something similar to apply your foundation. At first, I bought one (about $4-5) from Wal-Mart or Target, but I eventually ordered the one from EM.

And you are right, you can't get your kabuki in that tiny container. For awhile, I just got creative, but eventually ordered this large mixing jar, it's only $2. I have ordered the "mini" size and it is still too small to get the brush into, so I highly recommend the mixing jar.

Scroll down this page to see the long handled kabuki and mixing jar I'm talking about. https://www.everydayminerals.com/in...art&page=shop.browse&category_id=20&Itemid=46

And don't forget that you can get a free sample kit EVERY TIME you order!!

I am not familiar with the make up line you are referring to but here's a thought...perhaps you can blend the eye and blush powders in with either vaseline or clear gloss to create a color?

I think I saw with Bare Minerals that you can either dip your lipstick in the powder or -- better way -- put on your lipstick and then dip a lip brush in the powder and apply over your lipstick to give your lipstick more staying power.

I'm new to EM, so hopefully those with more mineral makeup experience will reply.

1. When experiemented with the powders, I just applied lip balm and then dipped a brush in the powder and applied.

2. I ordered the mixing bowls from EM, mainly because they are lavendar and the purple family is my favorite color. :p I have dipped the small kabuki in the lid of the samples. I use toothpick to open the holes of the top and then shake out a small amount of powder.

3. You can order the brushes off the EM site. Oh, you can also try the flocked sponges for application, which give heavier coverage IMO.

4. Oh, I have so many products. I am the last person to make recommendations. I did find a foundation primer at Aromaleigh that I really like.

Does anyone know if the large size foundation is the same size as the Bare Escentuals foundation?

You mix with a few drops of water.

I've never tried the water, but I personally don't use it for lip color. It leaves my lips feeling slightly dry. I have a gloss that they made though and I like it.

I use the intensive formula for a little more coverage and I'm oily. I mix two colors. I don't remember much about the sample kits but you could pour some out on a paper plate to make it easier for your brush to pick up. The type of bruch you use is kind of important depending on the coverage you want and the how evenly it goes on. I have a lot from EDM but I still enjoy a lot of the colors from BM, just not the foundation. I think mineral makeup is super fun and every time I try to go back to something else, I end up back with my mineral makeup. Good coverage, more natural looking on me.

Lynda - The Large size is much bigger than what you get with BE. I love EM because the price is way lower than BE and you get more. :)

That was my experience mixing with H2O.

I don't know the size of BE, but my big EM fondation is 8 g/0.282 oz.

I put on clear or colored gloss or balm, then dip my finger in the mineral powder and kind of press it into my lips.

For brushes, www.larenim.com has some excellent ones.
