Energy!

Cathlete
I just finished the first week of meso 3. I am amazed at the strength gains, and have never felt as energetic in my entire life as I do right now. I attribute this surge of energy to STS 100%. My weight loss is as usual slow, but I'm starting to not care so much, I feel more muscular, know I'm stronger, and just have felt great!

I'll see how I feel closer to the end of meso 3, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to take off a week, then jump right back in to a second round of the 3.5 month rotation. I don't find myself missing other weight workouts yet, except for meso 1 :D. And, if I start almost right away, it fits in perfectly with my summer vacation schedule.

That's great to hear! I am feeling a little hesitant about Meso 3 - I don't know if I can lift the heavy weights without a spotter and kind of dreading the longer workouts and rest periods. It is great to hear a positive - it renews my intentions to at least try Meso 3! If you have any more feedback I would love to read about it!

that's great to hear Dela!!! I've got about 7 weeks until I get to Meso 3, in doing the 6 month rotation and just starting M2W2 on monday! I have to admit that I thought that I would drop the pounds too, but as I have read so many time on these boards... "You can't out work a bad diet!" and this is definately my challenge! the 6 month rotation puts me finishing just before the RT, so I may be able to win any arm wrestling contests, I don't know that I will be any lighter... just a strong fluffy!

I am so glad you are feeling so much stronger! I admit that I have started putting wrist weights on for some of the back movements but haven't maxed my current weights for arms (bi/tri) work yet... and I'm intentionally not doing my max on legs due to knee issues, so good to know that if I wanted to, I could get some really positive results!

YOU GO GIRL!!!

Oh you have to at least try the first week, please :D!! I swear you will surprise yourself, and you know what if you have to drop your weights a little, then do it. I'm doing the plyo legs (plyos are in the 45 minute range too), so I don't have to worry about the super heavy weights for legs. But I found I actually upped (a little) many of my 80% weights in the first week for both upper body workouts.

And funny thing, I loved meso1, I liked meso2 but found myself getting a little bored sometimes in meso 2, but I really love meso3, the long breaks are not so noticeable because you have to switch weights, have some water, etc. And the workout is longer only because the breaks are longer, so it doesn't really feel like it's that long. Another thing that makes meso3 great is even though the weights are heavy, you only do 8 reps for each set in the upper body routines. So there really is no "dread" factor, since you know you only have to get to 8 and then move on to another exercise. And I think we even reduce reps in weeks 2 and 3. This is just fun for me, I've never done a weight routine with lower reps, and I like doing new stuff.

Just give it a shot, I highly recommend meso 3! :D

Mesocycle 3

Here is a little behind the scenes info on STS that you might find interesting. When Cathe first designed STS she was most concerned about Meso #3 being accepted and liked as it is a totally different type of workout from what most home exercisers are used to doing and its structure is so very basic. When mixed with extra long breaks between exercises, Cathe was very worried about even putting Mesocycle 3 in the STS program, but then something unexpected happened.

In our test rehearsals for STS, after we completed our first day of testing Mesocycle 3, our regular crew was raving about how much they liked Mesocycle #3, even more than the other mesocycles. The idea of STS is to take you out of your comfort zone. One of our slogans is “do something different” and this simply means to keep your body’s muscles constantly confused by varying the intensity, volume and style of the workouts. As an added bonus, you will find with STS, just as you’re starting to get bored with the program – it changes! This helps to keep you from quitting and dropping out of your fitness program.

We’ve seen several people state on our boards that they’re not interested in strength or hypertrophy and that there only going to do Mesocyle 1 or 2 because they just want to lose weight and get cut. What they don’t realize is that they will get better results and reach their goal quicker by doing all three mesocycles and thinking long term – not week to week. As Cathe says, you need to shock your body if you want to see results and if you want to see a change you have to make a change. This sometimes means doing something that normally you wouldn’t do or even think you would like.

I'm in the last week of Meso 3, and like the change of pace. I'm doing plyo legs, so still getting a little of the "fun" factor. Dela, I agree with your observations regarding strength gains.... it's really amazing to see the progress over the past 3+ month.

I still haven't decided what to do next, but will certainly plan to do STS again in the near future.

I've never followed a structured routine before. I've been doing my own cardio each week, but have stayed on plan with the STS. The time has really gone quickly, and I like tracking my progress.

Thank you for a wonderful program that is challenging, adaptable to different fitness levels, and results-oriented.

I too just finished week 1 of Meso 3 yesterday, & I have to say that I am still loving this program! This is by far the best weight training program for home fitness I have ever purchased. I have finally been able to increase my weights for so many exercises & am lifting much heavier than ever before! I am also fortunate enough to have a squat rack & bench & one thing I like about Meso 3 is that I can lift at my own pace which enables me to lift heavier but also safer. Since there's so much rest after each set I don't feel the need to rush in order to keep up.
For anyone that's still hesitant, I say go for it! It doesn't feel tedious, it actually feels energizing, as the OP said. It also doesn't feel like it drags on, at least not to me. Thanks SNM for such a great program for us at-home exercisers!

Dela and SNM - I have really enjoyed meso's 1 and 2 and therefore I know that I will be trying Meso #3. It is reassuring to be reminded of the Shock principle which keeps me motivate to try something different. Thanks for your imput!

GREAT insight!! I love each cycle for just that reason - doing something different. I am on the last meso 3 cycle and LOVE IT! I am looking forward to doing a 6 month rotation next! :)
