Good Afternoon

Happy Friday everyone!!!!! WooHoo.

How many eggs would you say is safe to eat every day? I love eggs to death. I could eat them for breakfast lunch and dinner. I don't want to over do it.
Thanks have a great weekend!

Do you eat the yolk or just whites? I eat about 3-6 a day but only use 1 whole and 2 whites for my scambled eggs.

There is no harm consuming white eggs (as long as it's within a recommended 50-30-20 carb, prot and fat ratio). yolk contain fat and need to be consumed. moderately. 2 per week.

I hardly have eggs. I made it simple by having liquid whites:)

Eggs are a delicious healthy source of protein. I wouldn't worry about eating too many (unless you are like me, on a low protein diet for my kidneys.) I buy the organic brown ones because I think they taste delicious. I like that it is a meat less source of protein and its practically a perfect food (short of only vit. c, I think.) Eat and enjoy. I think that beyond 5 or 6 you would probably get full. I also like that they are Cheep! Cheep (lols).:p

I eat the yolks. I love them. I eat around 7-8 whole eggs a week.

I've never heard anyone caution against eating too many egg whites, but I've definitely noticed the confusion around the yolks. My understanding is that the yolks have gotten a bad rap over the years--that the fats and protein in the yolk are actually quite healthful and that there is really no cause for concern unless you have pre-existing cholesterol issues.

Okay, I just took a moment to Google your question and found a good number of what I consider reputable sources indicating that 1-2 yolks a day for healthy folks is no problem. HTH!

I get up to about 15 / 16 eggs per week. Whole eggs. My cholesterol etc is fine.
I once read an on line discussion, where some meathead only ate the whites - gave all the yolks to his dogs. And then, next sentence, was saying what a wonderful shiny coat the dog had, and that he wished he looked that healthy!
Eat the yolks and enjoy!!!

Well, when I was in contest prep mode, my trainer had me eating 1 whole and 16 egg whites a day. I could literally stand on the scale and watch the pounds go down. Yummy.

I love eggs! I eat scrambled egg whites for breakfast every day. I have 1 or 2 hardboiled eggs a day and will sometimes have eggs for dinner. I probably have at least 7 - 12 whole eggs a week.

Interesting thread, I was just wondering about this myself! I do like the Egglands best, they taste more clean than the regular eggs - although I've never tried the brown, organic ones.

I eat whole eggs rather than separating them; the yolks have lots of nutrition.

Several times a week I plan to have 3 with a spinach and cheese salad; I figure it has to be nutritionally better, not to mention a heck of a lot less expensive, than eating beef and chicken all the time.

Take care, everyone!

The organic brown eggs have the best flavor. I will never buy white eggs again.

I also eat a lot of eggs - two whole and 2 whites scrambled at least 4 times a week.

Eat the egg yolks women! Loaded with biotin, protein, choline for your brain, vitamins and minerals (iron for the women who sweat like I do) and extraordinary carotenoids for your eye, plus more.... Don't listen to the drivel on cholesterol or plaque as it does NOT contribute to build-up. There are so many variables to plaque build-up, look more at calcium *out of bound* or calcification, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, high level of VLDL. Eggs, coconuts, or any other healthy fat will only be feeding your brain, eye and vital organ health. The FDA (in bed with the pharmaceutical companies) have brainwashed everyone to believe that fat is bad for you.

I eat two organic, free range eggs with a clove of organic (I am very careful about my breath ) pretty much every day for lunch with a huge salad. I also have about a tablespoon of coconut oil, olive oil and lots of salmon. My blood panels make my doctor and his nurse ask me lots of questions about what I eat. :)

Thanks Dirt Diva for sharing your thought on yolk. The reason I do not have much egg in my nutrition is because of this misconception! I love my runny omelette and scrambled egg with yolk:eek::eek: I have not had any in months:p I know it's bad. I will have one today and make sure to have two per week.

I am loving this thread and it has come bang on time! I am tweaking my nutrition by increasing protein ratio. So far honestly, body is amazing, I feel great and satiated (full) for hours, more than two hours :eek: No cravings. I do not feel bloated at all, which happen when I eat some complex carbs:eek:

oh coconut oil is nutritional and great. It's actually better than olive oil while cooking at high temperature ;-)

I love eggs! I used to have a connection with a local farmer who would bring me these huge organic brown eggs. They were monsters! Quite often we would crack the egg and find two yolks in there. The eggs you get in the store, even organic ones, don't compare to local fresh ones. Yummy! Unfortunately I'm back to buying store bought ones since I don't see this farmer anymore. :(

Thanks for this discussion. Since reading this, I now eat 2 whole eggs (Egglands Best) for breakfast on most mornings (steel cut oatmeal on mornings I don't have eggs). I used to eat 1 1/2 eggs, separating the yolk from the 2nd egg. Adding that 2nd yolk makes my scrambled egg breakfast seem so much bigger/satisfying than eating 1 1/2 eggs. And, with being a teacher who doesn't eat lunch until 12:30, I found that eggs really satisfy my hunger.

I just discovered that hard boiled eggs are fantastic mixed with red pepper hummus!

I completely love hummus and that sounds like an amazing matchup! A few days ago I went on a day long ride on a frozen river and we all pull out interesting things to eat from our camelbaks at the usual stops. So this guy pulls out a ziplock baggy and it has scrambled eggs in there, no longer hot, but still...it just looked so good. I have taken hard-boiled eggs on rides except I tend to fart  a few miles later. Haha....ya TMI, but mixed with hummus, its definitely sounds worth it!
