Early Morning Exercisers!!

Newbie

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this site and could use a little help. I have been working out for 2 mos.and saw Cathe's show on Fit TV for the first time and thought it was awesome. I logged on to her website and was amazed at the number of videos listed. Unfortunately, I did not know what videos I should buy because the majority of them seem to say "advanced" so the customer service department thought that someone here could assist me. My goal is build my heart rate, obtain flexibility and gain strength. I do not want to become a body builder but would like to see some definition.

Thank you,

Courtney

I am an early morning exerciser (alarm goes off at 4:30 am) but I am just naturally a morning person. I really love getting it done first thing in the morning, it sets the tone for the rest of my day. And in fact, when I don't workout in the morning (or even get up early) I feel sluggish and tired the rest of the day!

I just remind mysef -- I am almost ALWAYS tired when the alarm goes off, whether it's 4:30, 5:30, 6:30.....you get the picture!

Yep...this is me too! I get out of bed at 3:50am, and I am down in my gym working out or outside running by 4:10am at the latest.

When I skip the workout and sleep in until 5:45am, I feel terrible ALL day!

Your body will adjust, give it time. But, you do have to stick to it and work through it.

Keep up the hard work, it pays off dividends!
xx, Denise :)

This is just SO adorable! Looking at my almost 12 year old son who is now taller than I am, I get misty-eyed when I remember those days when he'd sing himself to sleep and I would fall asleep before HE would.

All of you morning exercisers are really motivating me.

Hey Courtney

I recently started doing Cathe workouts as well. I went to the video and DVD discussion part of this forum and found alot of really good comments. If you just look through what people have said you will see their descriptions. I only have Cardio fusion, Imax and 4DS. I love them all. 4DS gives you 4 cardio workouts and 4 strength workouts. Everyone seems to love Bodymax 2 as well. You may get more responses over there too.
Good luck
Heather

Oh, yeah I'm an early riser too!

I had to start getting up early to run when my youngest was little or I would not get a chance to workout on my own and it has totally stuck. Sometimes I have to get up at 3 to go to work and on those days I will work out in the afternoon and it just feels so wrong. I tried working out at night and I somehow manage to talk myself out of it. When I wake up in the morning I am awake and ready to go. If I do not get my "me" it totally affects the rest of my day. I am a nicer person if I get to work out!

I had the same reaction. <3 Mine are 13 and 10, and I remember back when they would snuggle with me, or they'd need me to hold them. Those days are gone...which pretty much explains why the dog is so spoiled.

(The 10 year old still needs anti-nightmare kisses though. )

Early morning workout

It is great to get it done in the morning. It should give you energy and you're ready to go out and concure (sp) the world. Remember to drink before, during and after your workout. Watch what you eat for breakfast too. Eat things that boost energy too. I eat five mini meals during the day. LOTS of veggies.

Keep it up!

Looks like you've had a lot of replies but I didn't get to read through them (I've got to get to bed!! :p), so I'm sorry if I'm repeating what everyone else said. First, congrats! It's awesome once you get into the practice of it. Secondly, I think I was extremely tired for about a month, and then it got better. I won't kid you -- people asked me what was wrong, etc., but I just hung in there, and it definitely got better. But, you really should try to go to bed earlier.

hang in there -- it will get better!

hi wantfit, i hope i didn't sound like i was judging! i was just curious because our 16-month old needs his little "ritual" every night to fall asleep too. i actually like it - i read to him, we cuddle, etc - similar to you - so i was wondering what your experience was like. thanks for sharing!

(ps i don't think it's spoiling at all!!!!!!!)

I did have a really good experience with my son. I regret that I did not do it with my older daughter. When she was young, when I read to her, she was kind of wondering around. She also liked to flip pages by herself. So I gave it up. Boy, that was big mistake.

For my son, at beginning, when he could not focus and flipping around like my daughter, I would just let him take his pace. I had to admit his daycare school did a really good job. He got the habit to read the books. Every night, either him or me pick out a couple books. Then I read to him. I tried to let him sound the words. But he got frustrated. I talked to teacher. She said at this time (bed time), he should feel he enjoys the books, not working on books. So even now, I stilll read them to him. He would add some comments, or giggle making silly story of what he heard. Sometimes when we finished, he would ask me to tell him stories. I don't read too much kids books. So I just told him stories about when I was young, or when he was baby. I was surprised he seems very much enjoy those life stories. He kept asking me repeat again and again. He also like the dinasor. I made up dinasor stories.

He has a very close relationship with my husband. But this bed time and sometimes potty time is reserved exclusively just for his mommy. I don't know why. But after I experienced with my daughter, I knew this kind of time is going to go away when they grow up. This is the only time I can enjoy him as accompany. So I am tired, but I still like to do it. Even my daughter sometimes still wanted me to tug her into bed. She is 11 and half now.

Your son was so cute. My little guy is so shy. I hope some day I can hear him singing.:D
