DVDs similar to GS series?

Hi all-
First of all, I'm new to the forums (and fairly new to Cathe), so I'd like to introduce myself. I'm a 32-year-old former runner looking to lose weight and become fit again. I started working out again in January in anticipation of my first skiing experience. Whoo--whatta workout that was! Since then, I've sloooowly lost 15 lbs. and need to drop another 30-35 to get back to "fightin' weight." Initially, my workouts consisted of the Firm and Kathy Smith kickboxing videos, but now that the weather's warmed up, I've gotten back into running. A few weeks ago, I ordered my first Cathe dvds (GS chest/tri & back/shoulder/biceps) and am hooked!

My question is...I'd like to find a strength workout or workouts similar to GS just so I can mix it up a bit. Is there something similar that *doesn't* use a stability ball? Any recommendations would be most appreciated.

TIA-
cath

Hi Cath,

I would recommend:

Muscle Max

Muscle Endurance

Pyramid Lower & Upper Body

Power Hour

Maximum Intensity Strength

Enjoy! :)

Welcome, cath!
The only ones that I can think of are the Slow & Heavy Series. The Pyramids are really fantastic, but the ab work uses a ball at the end of PUB. (Can't remember if it is used in PLB).

You've got 3 recommendations for the Pyramids. Last year I did 6 weeks of the Pyramid combo premix & then 6 weeks of MuscleMax with lots of kickboxing abd a little step & lost 15 pounds in 5 months. Got great comments on my bod.

Wow...that's awesome! Now I have a dumb rookie question. :) What's a premix exactly? I've seen it on the DVDs but never clicked on it...

gotta LOVE pyramids!!!!!!!!!!

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

Oh OK...So you can tailor the workout based upon the time you want to spend or the area you want to focus on. Great! Which means the premixes only include *some* of exercises that are on the full workout, right?

Hi Cath,

Welcome to the forum!

The Pyramids will make a great addition to your collection. I like them a lot. The premixes are good for when you want a shorter workout (or on some DVD's, a longer workout). You can use the combo option when you want a total body workout instead of a two day split. This DVD will compliment your other purchase.

I think the series that is closest to the GS series is the Pure Strength Series. It *dosen't* use a stability ball. It is a classic and it is a good series. Because it is older it does not contain premixes but it is chaptered well. GS was my answer to wanting an updated Pure Strength Series.

Have fun with your purchase,
jordan
