Doggie daycare?

I found a really nice doggie daycare in my area and took Isabella for a half day yesterday. Maximus plays with her for maybe one hour each day. He rather nap. She had so much fun! When I picked her up she had slobber all over her. :D:cool: She was playing with a Boston terrier and lab for most of the day.

It only cost $12 for a half day. That seems way too cheap to me for 4 hours of fun playtime!
My question is....Do you tip the daycare people? I didn't know what to do. I gave them $20 and told them to keep the change. I didn't feel right only paying $12 when my little girl had the time of her life!

She put herself to bed last night (went in her crate without me telling her it was time:cool:).

Isabella.....I love my little girl!!!

I'm not sure about the tipping etiquette there, but just had to say that your little girl looks so adorable! I love the sleepy face! Wish we had a nice doggie daycare like that around here!

Sorry no advice on the doggy daycare, but I also wanted to say how precious Isabella is!!!! OMG so cute!!!! :D:D:D

Same here. No experience with doggie daycare but Isabella is gorgeous. I love it when we take our dogs somewhere and they have such a good time they come home exhausted like little kids. My 2 dogs go with us to our son's house to play with his guy and we always tell them they are going to visit their cousin. They have a blast together. You know--they know they are family.

OMG!!!!! She is soooo cute I thought it was a poster of a dog!!! How perfectly gorgous!!! When I take my furry companion to doggy day-care I do give them a tip. It's been a while since he's gone to one so I can't recall how much I tip. I also tip the groomers pretty well since they do such a gorgeous job on him! He's a Bichon so he gets groomed about once every 5 weeks.

My daughter worked in a doggie daycare center. You do not tip them. At her facility if you were to tip while paying the management would keep the change !!!!

Thanks everyone! Isabella is so wonderful, her sweet personality makes her even cuter in person! We feel so lucky to have her in our family.

I was so nervous leaving my baby yesterday. I had thoughts of dog-napping in my head.:eek: This was my first experience with a doggie daycare. Poor Maximus doesn't have the stamina to keep up with Isabella, and I think he enjoys her time at the daycare too.;)
The owner of the daycare was the main caregiver so she was the person I tipped. She was so nice to me.:) I think she knew I was very nervous about leaving my baby(yes, a very big baby:p).

Isabella and Maximus playing. This picture makes me laugh.:D

I don't have experience with doggie daycare or tipping, but I just wanted to say that Isabella is soooo adorable!!! And Maximus is very handsome!

As far as I know no tipping unless you leave them for an extended period of time, . . . like when you are on a vacation.
Cynthia she is toooo cute for words!!!!

What a cutie!

My advice would be to ask directly what their policy on tipping is. Perhaps if they do not accept tips yet you still want to do more, you can give them a donation for toys, etc, for the doggy daycare!

I pass by a doggy daycare on my way too/from work (it's actually located at our dogs' vet) and love seeing the dogs playing together. They even have a pool for the dogs, although I don't know if that's an everyday kind of thing. I was at the vet one time with one of my dogs and there was a golden retriever being dropped off for boarding and it was SOOOO excited to be there because they took their dog there for the daycare as well so it loved being there :)

I have no idea about the tipping, but I had to say those photos are ADORABLE! What a beautiful face. And what a personality in photo1.

(I personally probably wouldn't tip for a one-time stay, as it would set up an expectation of tipping every time. I would, however, think about sending a holiday tip at the end of the year, as I do for my cat sitter).

The owner told me that her boarding dogs play all day and sleep like a rock at night. She said there is always someone with them at night and it makes it so nice for the overnight caregiver when they are all tuckered out.
I never considered boarding because we always have someone dog sit for us, but I would consider this place if I couldn't find a reliable in home dog sitter.

Seriously, I've considered quitting my job to work at one of these places!!! Can you imagine how much fun that would be??

Cynthia - I've never tipped our daycare people, but Rascal goes goes every week so we buy a lot of visits at once. We do get them a Christmas gift, though.

Isabella is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! :)

Nicole, I would think working in a doggie daycare would be too much fun!
Although it's very noisy when I first drop off:eek:, but that is when all the dogs have just been dropped off. It's not so bad picking up.

Thanks Gayle! How many times a week does Rascal go? I'm thinking about taking her twice a week. I took her this morning. Funny....at home she is pretty clingy with me, but when I took her this morning she left me without even looking back- little snot! LOL

Rascal goes once a week. I think twice would be great for an energetic pup.

That's Rascal's M.O. too! :D

Fit44...WHERE did you find such two adorable pups as Isabella and Maximus?!? You need an agent! They are so so precious!!!

PS...you can ask the woman if she gets to keep her tips. That's what I do. If not...I wouldn't. But if she gets to keep 100% and you love her, then, of course. PS...if you start taking her more than once a week, I would say $15 total is adequate. That's more then 20%.

We need to have a Cathe "Bring Your Dog" Road Trip!

She is SO cute!!!!!!!

Eddie goes to PetPals every day M-F for his big doggie playdate (about 3 hours total time away from home). It's fantastic for him and he absolutely loves it. Ours is ..... $17/day, I believe, but they pick up and drop off. It's never even occurred to me to tip them! But I'll get them something for Xmas this year.
