Dog lovers - you have to read this book

Yesterday I read "A Dog's Purpose" by W. Bruce Cameron. It's not very long, only about 300 pages, so I did finish it in a day. LOVED IT!!!!

I can't describe it with out giving away too much of the story. But it's basically told from the point of view of the dog, and is the dog's story about how he finds his purpose in life. All he wants to be is a "good dog" and a "front seat dog" The dog's observations of some of the silly things we humans do is funny, too.

It's a little sad/poignant at times, but not terribly so. Extra sensitive people may need some tissues. As a reference point - reading "Marley and Me" made me bawl and go thru half a box of Kleenex, this one just gave me the warm/sad/happy fuzzies. I'm not a big crier, though.

Check it out, I promise you'll like it.

Another great one told from the dog's point of view is the Art of Racing in the Rain. I just loved it!

Darn it! Just tried to order both of these online from my library and it said there was a problem with my library record to see a librarian! Okay, so I haven't used my library card in like 4 years! So what? I want to use it now!

I am going to have to look for those.. Another good one told from the dog's perspective is One Good Dog by Susan Wilson.

The only thing about this one that made me have to "scim" some parts were the dog fight descriptions...it wasn't as bad as it could be, but I can't read that stuff. The story was awesome though. also in this one, some funny human traits pointed out by the dog were gret...

Oh I know that's the biggest problem with these books. And I always seem to be sitting on a plane reading when I get to those parts and trying to discreetly wipe away the tears without anyone noticing!

Just finished A Dog's Purpose. What an awesome book. I guess I'm extra sensitive. I cried my eyes out.

I read this book too, thanks to your recommendation, Nan.

It did not make me cry, but it made me have an even greater appreciation for our dog. I have known from day one that OUR dog has a purpose in our family's lives. I loved the way the author put all the stories together in this book! Reminded me of "The Five People You Meet in Heaven".

Any animal lover would love this book!

OMG...I had to resurrect this thread. I just finished "The Art of Racing in the Rain" and I can't stop crying!! I was reading it this afternoon at the car dealership while I was waiting for work to be done on my car, and I had to put it down and stop reading because I felt myself starting to get teary-eyed (and that was before the guy came out to give me the estimate for repairs! I really wanted to cry then!! ) Great book!

Now I've definitely got to get A Dog's Purpose.
