Does STS Help in Rebuilding Bone?

I'm new to this site. Would like advice as to whether anyone has ever used The STS Strength Training Series to help them rebuild bone, as I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis?

Any weight bearing exercise is going to strengthen bone in part because you strength muscle, which is attached to the end of bones. Most of the drugs out there for osteoporosis don't build bone, but shore them up and bones have to naturally break down and then rebuild. Its the net result of not enough remodeling that begins the advent of osteoporosis. Most rebuilding is through hormone processes, including serotonin (which is produced mainly in the gut and some in the brain). I would say a combo of weight lifting (especially squats) adequate amounts of calcium (through food) vitamin d3 which works just as well through supplementation and certain minerals, including phosphorus are your best bets to maintain and rebuild.

STS is a great series...but if you haven't lifted...and don't have a base of weight lifting...I personally would start with Cathe's total body weight workouts first...such as STS Total Body, Muscle Endurance, Hi Reps, or Muscle Max...to work the WHOLE body 3x per week to give a good strong muscle base.

I have been out due to injury for 4 wks...and as soon as I am released to get back into weights...these whole body weight workouts is where I will start because I will need to work on the whole bod after being off,,.. and these are so concise, thorough, and effective. After doing those for awhile, I will then tackle my STS again.

best wishes...and whatever you choose to do...just be sure to lift...it is soo good for the female body!
