Do your animals watch you work out?

I always find my dog and cat very comical, but especially so when I'm working out. I'll be doing a Cathe DVD with the music blasting and they are both fast asleep on the couch as if nothing is going on. Every now and then they open their eyes and look at me lazily like, "there she goes again . . . why doesn't she just nap like us?".

Yes. The dog lies on the couch, then sometimes he gets down and lies down right behind me. I have to stop and make him move. Then he gets back on the couch and falls asleep.

Everytime I go to workout the dogs decide that they are hungry and thristy.Drives me nuts! So I have to wait for them to finish eating b/c if I get on the treadmill then I will have to stop and let them out of the room again. And if I am doing aerobics I have to wait for them to leave b/c one of them will get kicked! Sometimes the youngest dog will sit and watch me though.

Mostly Tucker, my Aussie, ignores me (or a better way to put it would be - gets the heck out of my way!) But if I'm doing push ups, planks or sit ups, he'll come over and poke my side to be pet (or lick my face). Try holding a plank with a cold nose poking your side...

Yes! I forgot to mention that. Sometimes my dog will lie on the floor so close to where I'm working out I have to watch my step. She doesn't budge.

My late kitty used to sit practically on my head when I was doing crunches--he'd be touching my head with half his body and he'd sniff at my sweaty hair and bite my head. Either that or he would lie down right along my side so that I would bop into him every time I did a situp, especially the obliques. When I did pushups or planks, he'd park himself right under my chest. Great motivation not to just fall down on the mat!

Yes, while they "participate".

The younger Vizsla brings me her tug toy and we tug and fetch while I workout.

The older one dances with me only to certain moves. She flies off the couch and we dance for a minute or so.

The Dobe and lab just think we're all crazy.

If I'm lying down..it's all over tho. Everyone tries to kiss me.

My old dog (16 in January! ) doesn't do much of anything these days. But the pug is always underfoot. He's learned to stay away from the step (he's been trampled too many times LOL), but if I'm doing yoga or pilates, forget it--I constantly have a wet nose in my ear, or someplace less comfortable. :7

my 7 month old retriever, Jack, has to be beside me all the time. When I'm on the treadmill he lays just to the side, or stands and watches my feet. I'm always a little scared he's going to jump on, because he likes to lay on the treadmill and take naps. When I'm doing anything else, he'll watch from the couch. He does like to stand over me when I'm doing chest presses and flys for some reasonx(.

My older dog just sleeps through and lifts her head every now and then to make sure I'm still there. She's going deaf and blind now, but she can sniff me out.

My Yorkshire Terrier follows me everywhere and watches me workout all the time. I have to be very careful with the weights so that I don't hit him. It's funny actually...he sits like a soldier staring at me. It may have something to do with the fact that the minute I'm done I usually eat (and he knows there's always something in it for him, lol).

I have 2 dogs and they both love it when I workout. I have to put up a baby gate when i do cardio or they both try to bite my feet!! I do let them in the room when I do strength workouts but the second I am near the floor they kiss me like crazy. Its the same everytime but it always makes me laugh!!:)

yep... they are my coaches! lol! i workout in the garage (more room) and they (2 cats and 1 dog) come out and watch me....

when doing yoga or abs... a lot of times they will come and lay right next to me... during yoga brie (dog) will come and lay ON the mat (when i'm doing standing stuff) they are quite comical!

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

I have a Springer, Jeremiah. He usually lies on the couch while I workout, but sometimes he tries to stand next to me, or lays down on the floor right by the step. Then I am doing step/obstacle course. Just like others, I get the kisses when I am doing crunches. I love those kisses.

LOL!!! My kitty does the same exact thing. It's so funny. Actually, it feels kind of good. When I had dogs they would try to lay across my chest or abs.

My 16 year old dog, Spring, pretty much leaves me alone when I work out, except on the weekends when I work out earlier in the day before she gets fed. She comes into the room and gets in the way and I have to shoo her out repeatedly. Sometimes she tries to step over my step.

The first time my boy dog Shiloh saw me doing cardio, he was frighened. He is easily startled. Now, he is so used to seeing me work out he even tries to lie down behind me. My other boy dog, Sam, is addicted to salt and tries to lick my legs while I'm doing cardio and tries to lick my face and arms when I'm lying down to lift weights. Sometimes they play together while I'm working out and stray into my workout area.

It is challenging to keep them from being underfoot!

"The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more."

That reminds me of the first time Tucker saw me swimming in our pool. He thought I was drowning. He raced around the pool whining and finally got my husband to come and save me. Funny dog.

My new kitten, Bruce, will not leave me alone when I try to exercise. He tries to stuff himself under the step and "play" with me while I'm trying to step! Usually, I have to lock him in another room until I'm finished. Hoping that he'll grow out of it...

I have another cat, Spicey, who loves to rub on me while I'm all sweaty, like BunBun's cat! She hears the music change for the cooldown/stretching segment and comes a runnin'.

Most of mine don't pay attention (except to get out of the way fast!).
Scooter, however, thinks that "floor time' is HIS time. He likes to join me when I do ab work on the floor. And he's even jumped up on my chest (which is pretty flat when I'm lying down) while I was doing dumbbell presses! (He also likes to clean my ears--quite thoroughly!--when my head is lying on the floor for a while, like when I do lower ab lifts.

My dog Amber does sometimes. She usually comes down to the basement check on me numerous times (and kiss me if I'm on the floor). But I have Imax 2 recorded on Tivo and so have to do that one in the living room which really gets her excited. She watches me the whole time. Macy, my other dog, stays in the warm bed. And Daisy, my Amazon parrot screams so I have to turn up the volume and she screams louder and I turn up the volume louder and on it goes. If a baby cries on tv, so does she. If a woman is screaming on tv, so does she. My other parrots don't participate.
