Is it possible to knit and do Cathe at the same time?

Anybody interested in participating in a check-in for Cathe fans who knit?

Rhonda

Rhonda,

OOHHHH, ME! I love to knit, but I'm not that good yet :7 Mostly I can do a straight line so far, but I have plans! How long have you been knitting?

I wonder if I could knit myself some dumbbell cozies or something?
;-)

:7 Sounds like something I would do! ;) I don't knit, but I have been known to crochet on occasion. I'll be honest, I haven't done it in a loooooong time. I started an afghan about 3 years ago, and it's still sitting in my closet, about 1/4 finished. *sigh* Someday I'll find the time to finish it.... Maybe I need a knitting/crocheting check in!

I used to knit, and crochet (which I prefered because you can get a lot more done in the same amount of time). I got to the point where I just didn't have time for it anymore, and got interested in other things, so I got rid of all my knitting supplies. I did crochet a couple of hats and scarves last winter, though.

I do! We even have a group that my friend and I started (an off shoot of a group she belonged to in Yellowstone) called Knitwits. We meet at our Barnes & Noble and knit in the big, comfy chairs. We meet on the 1st Thursday of the month after work - although summer is a bit slower. The group is women from their 20's to 50's. Somtimes we have 4 people and sometimes 14. In Yellowstone she said that they had 30 people EVERY week! We're not so lucky. But we have a blast. I'm not that great but my friend is amazing. We took a class together about 9 years ago b/c we traveled to Europe all the time for business and figured it would be great to do on the plane. Then she quit her job and took a job in Yellowstone and hooked up with all those knitters there and learned a TON. I quit knitting while she was gone. So she came back 4 years later a pro and I had to start over b/c I was a quitter knitter. :) But I've knit a baby sweater, a million scarves, I'm working on a dog sweater, starting another baby sweater. It's endless.

Do you knit a lot?

I've been knitting since I was a child. Though I don't knit as much as I used to, I still do the occasional baby blanket or booties for shower gifts. It's really cool that knitting has come back into vogue. The new yarns they have now are fun to knit with.

I read your post and it got me giggling. I have a confession: In the 80's I used to knit my own leg warmers. I had a pair to match every workout outfit. :7 Thanks for the memory!!

I've been knitting scarves with all thuse fun fur yarns. It's easy and the make great gifts.

Suz!

Shame on you, you Knitter Quitter! :7 Actually, I would love to knit and have been thinking of learning in my SPARE time! Hmmm, just might have to do it!

I JUST STARTED A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. TRYING TO START WITH A SCARF. I KNOW THE KNIT STITCH PRETTY WELL. PURL STITCH I HAVE NOT QUITE MASTERED YET.

I'm #11 of 12 kids and one of my older sisters taught me to knit when I was 10 and she was 25. I've knit a couple of sweaters, afghans, pillows, scarves and barbie doll clothes. I don't do much of it anymore but I love the homeyness (spelling?) of cuddling up on the sofa during he winter with a ball of yarn and knitting needles while watching a good movie. It's something I've definitely like to get back into again though.

<Is it possible to knit and do Cathe at the same time?>
I had to laugh when I read your question. I had visions of knitting while doing one of Cathe's step routines...a dangerous combination!
I started knitting about 1 1/2 years ago. I've made scarves, mittens, felted bags, lots of baby fruit hats and I'm taking a sock class tomorrow! I discovered Cathe this past January and became addicted (and lost 30 pounds in the process!). My knitting has slowed down since then but I still find time to knit several nights a week. It's a great way to stave off the night-time munchies!
Happy knitting!

Suz,

Can you take knitting needles on a plane now? They seem like something that would be banned (like 4 oz of shampoo or a fingernail clipper). I just recently learned to knit and would love to take my knitting on the plane to San Francisco when I visit my daughter, but didn't think I should even try.

Thanks!

Debbie - Yup, I'm a Quitter Knitter! I'll have to share that with my friend. She'll never let me forget it though. :p You should definitely learn. It helps me not to feel guilty if I want to sit on my butt and watch movies or tv b/c I'm being productive. Plus it's so cool to make stuff.

Lori Ann - Yes, you can take needles on planes. For a short time after 9/11 they were banned, but I was waiting for a flight to Italy and this woman was knitting and I was like WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I was SO BUMMED that I didn't have my knitting and she did. They had already approved needles again and I didn't have my knitting with me. :(

TK - They actually had a leg warmer pattern in this hip magazine called Knit 1 by Vogue recently. :) I'm envious that you knit so well!

Sue - 12 kids? Wow!!! What an awesome memory for you. It is comforting to knit, isn't it?

Andrea - My goodness - you're quite the knitter. You're the opposite of me, the Knitter Quitter. Good job - and congrats on the weight loss!

Rhonda - I check in on the Hardcores and that's probably enough for me on a daily basis, but if you started a knitting one, I'm sure I'd stop in. :) As Andrea mentioned it's a great way to stave off the night time munchies so maybe your focus can have something to do with keeping you away from the kitchen in the evening???

My MIL just gave me some yarn and I'm going to start a baby sweater for my friend and cycling partner who is pregnant. I have until February to finish it. Wish me luck!

Rhonda - I think I've told you this before, but I have a Blue & Gold Macaw too. :) We also have 2 African Grey parrots. They're so much fun. A lot of work but a lot of fun. I always tell my sister she's lucky she only has one African Grey. But I love them all!

Suz:

I love your pictures. Your BG is ready to "step up." They are awesome animals. Mine is a monkey with feathers. He is 17 years old and my only son.

Rhonda

Yeah, she loves to say "step up" all the time. She talks a lot. She loves to sing (poorly). She's very smart. That's cool that yours is 17 years old. Sounds like you just adore him. I love that!

Big time knitter here. I'm working on a baby sweater I'm throwing together this weekend for a shower (was knitting it while waiting for the blog updates to load!), and two different summer tops/sweaters for myself. LOVE knitting!! I have a couple of knitting blogs that I read daily, but as I check in here every day, as well, if there was a knitting trail, I'm sure I'd check in there, too. I've been knitting for about 12 years, and I've gotten to the point that I can actually say I'm pretty good - I've impressed myself with a few projects.

I love to crochet and would like to learn to knit someday. I did my last blanket a few years ago and would love to start a new one or try a sweater, the summer months are just too busy though.
