Do you indulge in summertime?

Or do you remain good? Both last night and tonight after 2 kids' baseball games we took them for ice cream. Ice cream in summer time is one of the hardest things for me to resist. But I've been good so far.

So what do you do? And how do you handle those summertime smells and flavors like hot dogs (we won't go there on the health issues) and ice cream or peanuts at the pro baseball park? French fries or dippin dots at the summer amusement park? Do you cave? Do you do moderation? Do tell.

I'll be walking the Komen 3-day (60 miles) the week after Cathe's RT. To view my webpage go to: https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=202302&supid=166016627

Moderation. Don't eat the hot dog, the fries, wash it down w/ a gigantic lemonade and the eat the ice cream for dessert. One is enough. If you eat well the rest of the day, you shouldn't see too much effect if you do it 2 or times a week. But don't skimp on the exercises. And lose the calories elsewhere in your diet. It's all about balance. Also, if you go hog wild one day, don't beat yourself up. Pick the good habits back up the next day and keep on truckin'!! It's only a problem if it becomes a habit.

I was out for work yest and for some reason was starving at 10 am and had a huge craving for a McD's bacon, egg, and cheese bagel. Bought one, ate it, tasted good, had a huge bellyache. Learned my lesson. Won't do it again. After eating well for so long, I find I can't always stomach the junk, either. But I'm back on track today, and tomorrow, and the next day, and so on and so forth.

I actually eat less in the Summer, I don't like the heat and I don't like to eat when I feel hot and yicky. I'm a Winter girl, have to keep me away from the Christmas goodies!!!

One ice cream won't make you gain 20lbs. However 3 or 4 pints might make an impact. Moderation is the key!!

Happy Summer,
Nan

I find that I cheat way more in colder months than in summer months.

However, I really do cheat all the time -- haha!

I also find that I cheat more in cold weather. I can eat lots of fruit in the summer for dessert and that works but in the winter I want ice cream! Tosca Reno's book really helped to curb my cravings and I am not sure why as she didn't tell me anything I didn't know. As far as hot dogs etc I hate them and don't even want to think about whats in them.

I'm part of the "better in the summer" crowd. With all the fabulous fresh fruits I find my cravings far less in summer.... PLUS- putting my body in shorts & tanks everysingle day curbs all cravings for junk!
When I bring out the sweat pants and shirts I start dreaming about unclean food! Thank goodness I live where we are in shorts 9-10 months a year!

Another moderation person here. It doesn't matter about seasons. I like to have dessert with my hubby nightly, but I have a small portion. Keeps me sane.

I'm careful all the time - I don't like the way I feel when I gain weight (depressed!), so it ain't worth it to me to overindulge more than normal. If I eat ice cream, which I do once a week, it's always a lower calorie kind - no more than 100 calories per serving. And no toppings either.

I think its hard not to indulge with all the BBQ's and summery drinks:9 :9 And those drinks can have a few cals in them but its not like we get together with friends every evening so when I do, I don't sweat it...I just sweat the next day:)

At the ice cream place, I get fat-free frozen yogurt. At a cook-out this weekend I had a turkey burger with mustard and half a bun, with lots of grilled mushrooms, onions and zucchini on top and a giant mound of fresh fruit salad for dessert. I just try to make good choices.

In any event, here in NY, for me, summer is all about indulging in the fabulous fruits and veggies that aren't worth eating the rest of the year (see blueberry avatar). I've felt like a queen this last week feasting on cantaloupe, cherries and all the fresh salad veggies. :9 :9 :9 :9

Another one here that indulges all year round. I never deprive myself and that's makes it easy for me. I do seem to eat more ice cream during the summer though.

It's a bit harder for me in the summer because as a teacher with my "summer off" I have no schedule, stay up late, and that's when I eat. Being from WI, I have about 2 or 3 brats a year, and a nvery occassional DQ, frozen custard...about 5 times a year.

I eat tons more fruit and veggies in the summer and LOTS of frozen fruit bars...they help me stay away from the ice cream.

Summer time is my best eating time. Grilling, salads, fruit. I don't tend to indulge much in the summer time. I hardly ever go to the DQ, maybe 2 times in the summer, that might even be stretching it.
My bad time of year is winter.

Not anymore, but when I had my beach rental I did (this is my first year without it, I so miss it! :( ).

But you can't lie on the beach & smell the pizza, the burgers, the funnel cake, etc. etc. from the boardwalk & not indulge. It's funny b/c most people say they lose weight during the summer b/c they're outdoors & more active more often. I always gain during the summer b/c of boardwalk food. :9

i indulge year round also-might as well enjoy life i think...of course everything in moderation.;-) I figure if i am chasing my kids around all day plus working out 5-6 days a week, that a bowl of ice cream every night and my daily iced lattes cant do too much damage.:)

I might be A LITTLE worse over the summer just cause there's more temptation with bbq's, icecream runs and such but I pretty much try to "indulge" in moderation all year round. :9
