Do we "re-do" the 1RM as STS progresses?

Sorry if this has been asked....

Do we need to re-do our 1RM as the program progresses? Won't we be stronger by disc 4 and most certainly by disc 30? How do we adjust for that? Am I making this harder than it is?

I just completed Disc 1 and I can barely reach out to my keyboard without grimiscing! The workout was great and challenging!!! (I agree w/all the reviews...AMAZING!) At this rate I KNOW I am going to be super strong by the end of this program! (I want to be Jai when I grow up!!) I just want to make sure I am getting the most out of it as possible and doing it correctly.

Thank you Cathe and crew for this high quality series!

In the program, they built in weekly increases in your weights, so next week, your calculations will be to lift 65% of your 1RM and so on. So no need to retest within a rotation.

However, I have a feeling retests would be appropriate when you start a second full rotation of STS from the beginning again.

Well I did some re-do on some of the exercises like shoulders. Thanks for this question as I would like to know before I go and keep re doing the test.

That's what SNM told me a while back, when I asked if I should retest my 1RM after finishing STS.
It is not necessary, but a good idea to retest your 1RM before you start STS for the second time.

A long time ago I did a workout called "Body for Life". One of the things I did like about it was that you marked down the intensity level of each set. (i.e. a 1 may be a walk in the park and a 10 failure to complete a rep). I think I am going to make notations on my workout card as I go along and instead of testing the 1rm max again, just go up in weight where I feel the intensity level was not high enough on particular exercises. Just a thought!
