Do I need to workout more then 1 hr a day......

Hi
Ok now that I have an idea for what I ight choose for my workouts now how often should I be working out....... I am going to add more weights in like PLB & PUB but I think I also still need my cardio but here is the thing.... I usually choose 1 hr tape a day 5 days a week. So now if I need to do cardio as often as I do weights does that mean 2 tapes in 1 day ? YIKES! I really don't have time for 2 hrs before work in the AM and at night I am wiped out... I just don't get how I will fit in say 1 hr of PUB then another 1 hr of cardio....is that right ?

Now I do this:
Day 1 - Bootcamp
Day 2 - All Cardio ( CK, SB, etc. )
Day 3 - Circuit Max
Day 4 - KPC or Step Blast
Day 5 - Push & pull.......... so how do I do this if I want to tone + lose fat as well. I guess how much in a day ?
I am sorry if I sound so lost, I guess I am ,lol.

My humble opinion is your rotation looks good if you only have 1 hour a day to workout. Some options could be:

1)Replace Push&Pull with Pyramid Upper or Lower(I think they're more intense-more bang for the time spent)
2)Use option 1) and combine Pyramid Upper(@35 min if you do a shorter warmup and save the abs for an all cardio day) + Pyramid Lower(Standing work only @20 min)
3)If you could steal just an extra 10 or 15 minutes each day you could do 1 body part per day and replace BootCamp or CircuitMax with an all cardio day - alternating BC and CM each week)

I'm sure you'll get lots more suggestions from others on this forum.
Posters here are wonderful at sharing good sound advice/suggestions.
Good luck.

Laura:

I hour a day is quite sufficient for lookig after your health. Re-sculpting your physique requires longer training times, but 2 hours every time you work out is not "required" either. Some like to do it, many on these forums do, but you don't have time for it, neither do I, so who cares?

On your above listed rotation, you could easily swop the Bootcamp day for a lower body workout day instead, because you have 4 cardio days listed there. You could also remove Circuit Max and substitute "Step Circuit" from CTX series (just the cardio section), which is a tough cardio workout but shorter, and it would allow you to add on PUB after it.

Another possibility if you want to lift heavy at any time (since Bootcamp, Circuit Max are both endurance training), is to do a CTX rotation, where the cardio is only 22-28 minutes, do 4 or 5 of these per week, and after it, do one body part from either the PS series or Slow & Heavy. Training one body part per day will allow you to combine all the cardio you want to do with the added weights you also want to do.

Lastly, there's nothing wrong with just 3 cardios per week, especially if you make one of those an Interval workout wich absolutely jacks up your cardiovascular fitness. I usually aim for 3 cardios per week, then two weigh training sessions per body par per week.

What do you think?

Hi Clare

Just had to interject and say that you give such great advice in such a supportive way.

I love to read your posts.

Laura,
I'm assuming that the numbers under you name are before and after weight. If I'm right, congratulations, that's fabulous!

In addition to the wonderful recommendations, you can also do something where you only do 50% to 75% of a cardio workout followed by doing one body part from either MIS, Pyramid, or from Slow and Heavy. I have found that this is approx. 30 minutes in duration. For example, you can do the following (which is similar to what I did last week):

Day 1: IMax2 warmup plus first 5 intervals. Cool down a bit and then do slow/heavy chest.
Day 2: Rhythmic Step warm up plus first 2 cardio segments. Cool down a bit and then do slow/heavy back and core.
Day 3: Power Max warmup plus first 2 cardio segments. Cool down a bit and then do slow/heavy biceps.
Day 4: Do slow/heavy legs and shoulders only.
Day 5: Kick Punch Crunch warm up plus the first two cardio segments. cool down a bit and then do slow/heavy triceps.

If you have 5 days, you can always do a "light cardio" for legs and then a tougher one for back.

Hope this helps.
