Do I have a crazy GWF?

Ok, this is strange and I'd really, really like to believe the numbers on my GWF. I've been using my GWF on and off for several months. I've used it enough to know that my daily calorie burn is usually between 2550-2750 depending on what the workout for the day is. I can actually accurately predict the number based on the workout I did that day. Here's the crazy part -starting this week my caloric burn has been 200-600 calories higher a day. It also seems to be getting higher each day. I am doing nothing different physically, in fact, I've completed CLX about 3-4 weeks ago and started Physique 57 which I love but kind of consider it a lighter routine.. My cardio days have remained exactly the same. Yesterday's number was 2960 and I only did Physique 57. Right now my total for today is 3350. The only thing I've done differently is start Claritin D and resume taking my vitamins after a hiatus of almost a year(directly coincides with the start of the higher numbers). So do you think the Claritin or the vitamins upped my metabolism OR maybe there is something wrong with my GWF. Has anyone had this experience with their GWF. My weight has stayed the same so that cant be a factor. I should probably be happy and not question this.:p Any Ideas? Jenn

I'm with you in wanting to know changes like that.

Couple of things I can think of to check:
Are the initial settings for you still correct?

In checking the graphs:
Are you sleeping less?

Can you see where your calorie burn is more today than y'day?

Are you walking around more rather than being sedentary? (Weekends where I was doing household chores would produce a higher cal burn that weekdays when I sit at my desk)

For me I noticed a higher cal burn once off BCpills? All of a sudden I was at a 1.2 cal burn during sleep times rather than a .8 so I'm guessing it was hormonal ?

Just a few things I could think of . . .

Thanks for the suggestions. The average mets for most days are higher usually 2.5 but the other day it was 3.5 .These days I've been focusing mostly on the sleep efficiency and duration aspect of GWF. what definitely was different was my sleep efficiency numbers. Although sleeping a little less than 6 hours a night I was getting effieciency of 89,85 % which for me is awesome. I never felt so good.Up until then my efficiency was in the 60% range. The past two nights its been in the 70% range. I wonder if this has something to do with it. Sleep and hormone levels are related too.Who knows, anyway, I really appreciate the reply. Thanks:D

I've been wearing mine since spring - almost constantly!

I can think of a reasons for a change ... One might be that you're really moving around more. I've noticed that pre-flu or pre-cold I drag a bit, and that shows up as reduced activity (lower calorie burn) on the GWF. It's a symptom! When I'm feeling better after an illness, I move more naturally, and the calorie burn is higher. Perhaps the medications and improved sleep are helping you feel better than usual, and this is translating into a little more moving around? If that's what it is, then your activity charts should be a little higher (sounds like they are).

Another, if the medications raise your body temperature abnormally, the GWF's heat sensor might be fooled. So, for instance, I can see how something like a niacin tablet might cause a slight increase in temp depending on how your body reacted. In that case your activity chart shouldn't be higher.

I've noticed also that there are recalibrations from time to time, and that has changed a few of my numbers (for biking and elliptical use, where my gwf suddenly began to agree with my HRM instead of being very low this summer). You might drop a note to the company, to see if they have heard of anything similar, if it stays high for a long time.

It's kind of fun to play with these gadgets, isn't it? I learned so much about my activity levels from mine. It was a shocker that my daily activity level has more effect on my calorie burn over than the intensity of my workouts.

These gadgets are fun. I really love the GWF and probably the best thing for me as you mentioned, is seeing how daily activites add up for the calorie burn. It has helped ease my mind a little bit when I have to miss a workout. I don't feel quite as guilty. I'm definitely becoming more of a gadget junkie as time goes on, too. My other two are the Kindle and my Roomba vacuum. Ahhh but by using the Roomba I am lowering my caloric expenditure therefor I'll have to workout more, lol:D
