Did my first CC tonight. Thank you to all the enablers!!

Woo-hoo! Congratulations on your first CC!!! Sean's wonderful isn't he? :)

Before you do your next one, you might want to check out that heart rate monitor though. No one's come out and said it, but I think it's pretty much impossible to burn 1000 calories running 3 miles. I don't even burn half that doing 3 miles intervals with hills on my TM and my heart rate zones are right in line with yours. I'm not telling you that to criticize your saying you burned 1000, just to give you a heads up that something might be off with the monitor - which I would want to know because I am so anal about wanting to know exactly how many calories I burn. :)

Just for reference I use my GoWear Fit. I'm very overweight (working on it) so I burn higher calories than some. I do the same as the OP for the levels - walk, walk fast, jog, run fast. At most I burn about 350 calories for a bit < 1hr. And my GoWearFit favors cardio like this (vs weightlifting). Personally I would be pretty bummed if I ate those 'extra burned' calories then found that I didn't actually burn them

Don't let that stop you from 'enjoying' CC though. It's a really good workout. I'm waiting for that $5.98 sale to come back around to get more :D

Maybe my hrm did not clear properly from the previous workout. I was a little shocked myself at this. It is also not the first time I have had a high reading. I have also had this happen with BM2 premixes and LIC.

Today I walked 2 miles and listened to volume 2 love the music in this one. I had to keep myself from wanting to go faster but I was on my lunch break and did not want to get all sweaty before going back to work. :) My hrm gave me a reading of 500 calories. And I made sure it was starting from zero.

My hrm is a timex, very similiar to the polar f4's just less expensive.

My hrm is a Timex too, and it shows ridiculously high calories burned. Unfortunately it's pretty much impossible that you burned 500 calories walking 2 miles. Probably closer to 200, maybe 250 if you were really pumping it.;)

I don't have an HRM, but I use the Go Wear Fit device and I have an elliptical, both of which tell me roughly how many calories I burn in a workout. I'm sure there's a margin of error with both measures, but just for the sake of comparison, the last time I did Volume 2 on my elliptical I got in 5266 strides (a distance of 2.91 miles), and burned 420 calories according to my elliptical, and 367 according to my GWF. The actual # is probably somewhere in between.

Oh, Michele! I'm sitting here with a stuffed up head reading your post and missing the elliptical. :(

I agree that your calories sounds too high, Jenn, unless you weigh 2000 lbs. ;). The number of calories used will depend upon your body weight, speed, and, if you're on a machine, the resistance or incline. When I walk on the treadmill, I generally walk 2-3 miles and use 200-300 calories, varying the incline and speed to keep it interesting. (My goal is to keep my HR in my "target zone", and I don't care much about the calories, but I do notice them).

 How can I tell if this dang hrm is set properly? I wonder if it has been calculating wrong all along and not burning nearly as many calories as it says I am. :(

You should contact Timex and see about having it recalibrated. Depending on how long you've had it, it could just need to be serviced or, if it's new, it might be defective and you need to swap it for another one.
