Debbie? Anyone? A good site for figuring body type?

Hi Everyone, :)

Does anyone know of a site that would help me narrow down my body type combo?

I know we can have tendencies for all 3 ~ ecto, meso, and endo ~ but I'd love to know the ratio.

For example, I was a classic ecto for years. I worked out, of course, but I really had zero trouble maintaining a weight of 115 at a little under 5'7". I could eat well, I could eat poorly, not exercise for months ~ it really didn't matter. I also have very slight bone structure, a smaller bust, and long limbs.

Then age 33 came along, and my metabolism slowed down. I put on 10lbs instantly. Presently, with weight training, I hover around 127 - 130. I'm still in great shape, but I'm definitely not a stick bug anymore, and I have some curves. Some good, some not so good. (The pictures in my profile album are me at 136, I believe, and before I started with Cathe.) So now I'm feelin' a little endo, but I'm not solidly in that category.

I'm getting stronger, but my muscles don't pop, that's for sure. My aim is to really build muscle, but I'm wondering if my body type will hamper me. I'm lifting heavy, and I will continue to experiment with cardio over the next year, but I fear I'll never see a decent bicep. (Which really isn't the point of working out, I know, but it would be so cool! )

Thank you Debbie and anyone else who might offer up some advice and/or empathy...heh.

Thank you, Debbie. :)

I've been reading, and I can't quite place myself. Am I Ecto-Meso or Meso-Endo? Or worse...Ecto-Endo? (Ha. That sounds kinda funny.)

Ah well. I suppose another year of training and experimenting will probably give me a clue.

*Edited to add:

I found this quiz: http://www.mybodymakeover.com/tools_for_success/body_blueprinting_quiz.aspx

It says I'm an Ecto-Endo, which translates to "skinny fat". (Ha...Ecto-Endo...that still kills me.)

I thought I'd post the link in case anyone wanted to play with it.

Lori, that's a good link and it confirmed what I thought all along, I'm an endo-meso. Don't know if that's good or bad, but just like other things we always wish for what we aren't. :D

Mine says...

Based on your answers to the Body Type Quiz,
type_c_header.gif
As a Body Type C, your body builds and maintains lean muscle easily, which is good because muscle burns fat. Additionally, your metabolism is not as sluggish as several of the other body types - unfortunately, it is still not fast enough to keep you lean. The rate of your metabolism is the primary consideration in how your body gains or loses weight. The good news is: As a Type C, since you have plenty of muscle tissue to help you burn fat fast, once you use your custom eating plan to speed up your overall metabolic rate, you should see results extremely fast and have little trouble keeping the weight off after the program is done.

Cool quiz!! This is what I have been thinking.

Just as I suspected...

The quiz told me I'm a meso-endo too, which is what I'd thought. Looks like we're all in the same boat. Fun quiz, and somewhat helpful to get a second opinion on the matter, since it helps with my approach to nutrition and training. Thanks for sharing!

I love how my description pretty much boils down to: You have a metabolism that is gradually slowing down, and you have a very difficult time building muscle.

What a combo!

I'm an Ecto-Endo too. Apparently, we have a pretty decent metabolism (Ecto) that has only started slowing down recently (Endo). We need to build more muscle.

I'm going heavy with the weights, keeping the reps low, and experimenting with how much cardio I need. Right now I'm doing cardio 3 times a week, for about 20 minutes. Once in a while, I'll do a 40 minute Cardio Coach workout, but that's not super often.

I'm afraid if I do more cardio, I'll hamper my ability to create muscle.
