Daily Check In: June 3, 2005

Good Morning Ladies,

TGIF, I did the Viper and Core max 3 with a 10 pound medicine ball.
That is my favorite core workout, it is challenging with a 10 pound ball.

Have a Great Weekend Everyone, I have to work max all weekend.

Good morning,

This morning I put together my own workout:

Power Circuit warm up and hi/lo floor aerobics;
All Step step portion;
Power Circuit cardio/leg circuits;
Power Circuit abs (on the stability ball);
All Step stretch.

It's just over 60 minutes, and since both workouts are on the same dvd I was able to just program the sequence into my player, and let it go. It was a great workout!!

Connie - the SH Series and the Pyramids complement each other very well. I've gotten my best results from doing the SH series during the week, and the Pyramids on the weekend. Down the road when you're looking for some new weight workouts, I highly recommend the SH series. I'm feeling pretty decent, thank you for asking! I need more rest, but if I can make sure I take some down time during the day, I do all right. I'm pleased to hear that you're seeing results from all your hard work!

Jes - when SB calls, you just gotta do it! That workout is too much fun to say no to. And I *love* your treadmill idea! How are your knees today, from the intervals? When we move, will you come over and clean this place for us? :)

Katie - Wow! So at least you found out the reason for your trip to the ER. I'm so sorry that you may have to go through that again, with another stone! Will drinking large amounts of fluid help flush it through faster? And is it true that passing a kidney stone hurts more than childbirth?

Carla - how exciting!! You're all moved in!! We're moving into a new home in February, and I think I'll be doing the same thing you did - setting up the workout space first LOL!! The tv and dvd player might be the first thing I plug in!

Foodie Sue - was that your first time doing Low Max? It's deceptively intense, isn't it? I like it more each time I do it. It doesn't fly by as fast as the IMAXs, though.

Annette - oh yes, I noticed that you didn't do shoulders the other day, but I don't like to nag ;-)

Laurie - how do you mix BodyMax and LowMax? That sounds intriguing! Your new house sounds terrific!! Does Kingston have very much new housing being built? Here in Edmonton, there are new subdivisions going up all around the city. It's a building boom. Happy birthday to Elizabeth, congratulations to Marley! Faith is such a pretty name! I'm very sorry to hear that your MIL has become so ill :-( Are you happy with her care? Is she in a nursing home? She sounds very funny! Did she always have such a sharp wit? Paris is loving the pregnancy, and cannot wait until September gets here. She regularly talks to the baby, and kisses and hugs my belly. She's always mentioning how she's going to give the baby her clothes or her toys when she can no longer wear them/play with them. I think she's going to be a great older sister! There will be 5 years difference between them. How far apart are Elizabeth and Faith (your youngest?)?

Wendy - Good job on the walking! It's a great exercise, no doubt. Does Joey fall asleep in the stroller?

Denise - congratulations on the new job!

Tammy - thank you! CleanMax doesn't sound like much of a rest day to me. I hope you can follow it up with Tea-Croissant-Newspaper Circuits!

Becky - There's not doubt that you did the Viper just fine, even if you're not feeling DOMS. And sometimes, when you've really worked hard, the DOMS doesn't arrive for a couple of days. If you felt whooped by the end of the workout, you worked hard enough. Your last child is entering highschool? Mine is only beginning kindergarten! We'll both need hankies on the first day of school in September.

Reba - I feel the same way about this list! The people on it are very motivating! You all make it difficult for me to stay within a reasonable range for being 6 months pregnant! :)

Terri - enjoy KickMax! I haven't done the Challenge portion yet, so can't comment on that, but I really like the 4 combos. The only problem I have with the combos is in the 4th combo I have a hard time completing the last arm movement before transitioning to the side kick. It's like there should be one more beat there, but there isn't. So I usually don't do the arm movement. I'm interested to hear if you experience it that way, too.

Laurie Mac - good job on the walking lunges! How long did it take to do them? Are your legs feeling it today?

Emily - great workout! Everyone has different preferences and priorities; stick with your own comfort level. You're doing great! I haven't tried GS legs yet; I'm a bit chicken x(

Great workouts everyone!
Sandra

Hi ladies:

Today I did S&H bi's/tri's and shoulders. My arms feel like they are hanging limp from the socket. If I had to lift something heavy above my head, I probably couldn't.

I really did a number on my knees yesterday by doing Low Max on an 8 inch step. Knees have always been my sore spot, and that doesn't improve with age! It doesn't matter how strong the muscles around them get, my knees still moan and groan under stress.

Have a good weekend!

Hi Sandra:

Not my first time doing Low-Max, but first time on an 8 inch step. I won't make that mistake again!

Hello all!

Last night I did Bootcamp cardio only and core only premixes, and Musclemax upper body push-pull.

Question - do you find that sometimes when you do strength training you have no problem upping weights and completing sets of reps and doing all the push-ups on your toes, and then you do it again a few days later and can't match that weight, and wimp out on the push-ups? Is that fairly normal?

Tonight I'm going to go for a run (weather permitting) and do the Coremax segment with the stability ball.

"Good job on the walking! It's a great exercise, no doubt."

TY Sandra...I'm trying to ease the Cathe withdrawals! lol

Hey All, I worked early today so it was just an hour of step. It was good but I wanted to workout longer, I hate it when work gets in the way of my workouts:p

My house is full of drywall dust and it's driving me nuts! It's so fine that it blows out the other end of my vacuum cleaner and if I sweep it just swirls around. I'll give the shop vac filtre a good cleaning and get on that this weekend. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome back Denise you sound enthusiastic (as always:)) about your new job, that's awesome!

Sandra, Elizabeth and Faith are 5 years apart. It's nice to see Elizabeth's little Girl side when they play but I worry about Faith when she mimics and emmulates Elizabeth's teenage behaviour. At 10 Elizabeth would still listen to children's music but Faith will have none of that and is being taught Nirvana songs on the guitar:eek:. Whatta ya gonna do?! I predict that you will be fascinated and touched by the new parts of Paris' personality revealed through being a big sister. We're satisfied with MIL's care in the chronic ward at Trenton's hospital but it really bothers me that she is strapped down although I know it's necessary as she is blind but very energetic physically and is a threat to herself. It bothers me because it reminds me of her telling me how much she hated being strapped down as she laboured with 5 of her 6 children. Apparently that was standard practise in the late '50's and early '60's. She was very emotional when she described this to me years ago so it makes me hurt for her. Kingston is definitely booming, more houses, more shopping, more of everything but jobs, that's the part that I don't get.

Enjoy your day and workouts everyone.

Take Care
Laurie:)

Good morning Catheites!

I'm feeling like a good long cardio workout today, so I'm switching around my rotation. Today I'll do Kathy Smith's Stready Strides (60 minutes walking workout with intervals) and then StretchMax.

Tomorrow I'll do L&G. I probably won't have time to check in so I'm speakin' up early. ;)

Great workouts, as always, everyone! Thanks for continuing motivation and inspriration! :*

Connie :D

Well Sandra, next time remind me that I forgot a body part!! I need to know that I did that before the end of the day.:D

Endorphin Junkie, I am living in drywall dust myself, ain't in grand,:p !! We are building a kitchen/bath addition plus my dining room isn't finished either and we are ready for drywall in the addition. So it will be fun the next couple of weeks. Thanks the other day for saying I am the den mother. I do feel like I came in the beginning of this thread waaaaaaaaaay back when and it sure has grown. I can't keep up with every body now!!:+

I did PUB Chest and Kickbox combos only with cooldown.:D Short day but we have a busy day ahead.
:D

Hi everyone!

Amazing, inspiring workouts everyone!! I am soooo excited.....I went running yesterday with a friend and I ran about 2.6 miles in about 35 minutes!! Now I know that may be nothing for those of you that run regularly but I was so impressed as I HARDLY ever run!! Next time I will go longer....it's amazing what Cathe's workouts have done for me in the past 9 months:7 :7 !!!

Denise it's so good to see you posting again, you've been missed!!

Cathy, sorry to hear about your car troublex( ....had to have my battery replaced this morning but at least it happened at home! Hope your car is ok now.

Sandra, it's so good to see your lengthy and eternally entertaining posts again! I have got to catch up with you.......expect an email from me very soon:D

Have a great weekend!!

Morning all. My workout this morning was moving all my furniture from the kitchen to the office so the painters can paint the kitchen. Does that count?:D

Sandra - I can't really say if it was worse than child birth since I had a c-section, however I can say that the pain I experienced during the hour of full out labor contractions was about par with the pains I had with the kidney stone. Only the kidney stone pains lasted for about 4 hours. With the labor pains I cried, with the kidney stone pains I screamed. I probably would have cried with the kidney stone, but I couldn't take a deep enough breath to do so. Yes, the doctor told me to drink TONS of water (which I do already) and that will help flush it out of my system. At least after labor you get to take a beautiful baby home. I'm definitely not looking forward to going through it again.

Katie

LOL, I'm with you Emily! I feel like a wimp compared these crazy Catheite masochists! :7 }( :p :7

Great job on your leg and core workout!

Connie :D

Hi Sandra, thanks for adding to my ever-expanding Cathe wish list! lol I'm a little nervous about the SH series, because I don't want to add any "bulk". I mean, I know I won't get really bulky being a woman, but I'm working more on building lean muscle and fat loss. Do you think SH would be series for that- especially if I used lighter weights than Cathe? I'd use MY heaviest possible, but I'm sure it'd be less than Cathe. }( :p

I hope you get a chance to take your nap today! Keep taking top notch care of yourself!:)

Connie :D

Hello, All!
I am late checking in, but you have no idea how happy I am to have a phone so I can get on the computer! I was totally having withdrawls!
Great Workouts!
This morning I did CTX Kickbox, Cardio Kicks PowerDrills, BM Upper Body, Abs, & Stretch. This evening I will go for a run.
We are also about to start remodeling. We are going to start in the kitchen. I am so excited about this. I think!;-)

Enjoy the rest of this beautiful day!

Good evening everyone!

I just got back from an amazing run. Started out not even really wanting to go, but I went... and went and went and went! I ran through the woods and then up the stairs that go up the escarpment (418 steps including landings!!!). I'm definitely feeling the endorphin rush right now, baby;)

Whew! That sounds exhuating! i am going to do the floor work from L/G and the step portion of LM later. at the moment i am stuffed full of sweet potatoe and i couldn't move if i wanted to :p

Denise: good to see ya girl! Congrats on the job:)

Sandy: nice to see you! good job on the run......you need to email me about that friend of yours:)

Great workouts all of you!

jes:7

I'm probably the last one of the day.

Jes....sweet potatoes are my favorite thing in the whole world.

Shelley - 418 steps?!?!? HOLY ENDORPHIN RUSH, GIRL!!! I go up 105 steps to my 6th floor office every morning so you went up about 4x that or 24 stories!! YOWZA!!!!

I squeezed in a SJP step/hi-lo premix while the kids were upstairs eating ice cream from Tasty Freeze. Now I'm ready for bed - at least when I'm sleeping I'm not tempted with sugar....except in my dreams....!!
