Costco Wholesale

Hi,

I love Costco, but like everyone else, think that you have to watch the prices. Nothing is a bargain anywhere, but the quality is good and usually very consistent. I buy certain items in thier that I know we eat. You have to be a smart shopper and not fall prey to impulse type items, which I think they have a lot of.


I have the executive membership and this year got back about 160$, so it paid for the membership and more.

We belong to both Sam's and Costco - I like certain things from each place. Costco does have more high-end stuff but they also don't carry some very basics (like at mine I can never find Puffs tissues or Cheer laundry soap - Sam's has both). We get several cooking magazines however, and last year there was a review of the Costco cakes and they determined that the cakes were "worth the price of membership alone"! They're cheap and so good that my family now prefers Costco cakes for any event like birthdays, etc.

I LOVE COSTCO!!! I've only been in Sam's a few times, usually tagging along with someone who has a membership. The shopping experience is entirely different in both. Even though they are both similar type places it doesn't feel like it at a Costco. The employees actually like their job and treat you nicer.

Sam's is just a Walmart on steroids! They are the evil empire of the world, imo.

I used to go to Costco all the time! (We moved a couple of years ago, and now that it's a 50-minute drive we let our membership lapse - not sure we'd go often enough to be worth the membership cost and the gas.) We got a Nautilus home gym set there. They usually have their good deals on fitness stuff in January (New Year's resolution season). I've also seen ellipticals and treadmills there, as well as puzzle mats. I'm sure they'll let you walk through to decide if you want to join. You can't buy anything unless you join, but it's probably worth checking it out for yourself. Oh, and my kids love their hot dogs and churros. Not exactly healthy, but their aren't a lot ways to get protein into my picky eaters, lol.
 
If you use generic perscriptions you need to check their pharmacy
for them. Our local Kmart is charging $42.95 for a 30 day supply
and costco is charging us $12.07 for the same drug and its a 90 day
supply! You can go on their web site to check prices.

WOW! Thanks everyone for all the responses! This really helps! I am definitely going to check it out and maybe join. Now I am really excited! I really try not to shop at Walmart. It might really be worth my while to drive out to Grafton. Thanks again everyone!

Oh yea, speaking of fitness stuff, we got our spinning bike there. It was about $550 and it is a special bike that Champion made especially for costco. It has a 53 lb flywheel and a computer on it and it's fully adjustable. We priced comparable bikes at about $800. We've been very happy with it.
 
I got my elliptical there about 4 years ago. It was $500 and it has a fan attached, elevation, adjustable resistance, etc. All the bells and whistles.
 
When Costco first opened in our area they were offering a free one year membership so it was worth trying it out. I've been a member ever since even though they up'd the membersip price this year. They always have good products. Also if you buy electronics there, they automatically extend the manufacturer's warranty at no extra cost, I think an extra year or two (I would double check how long though).
I stay away from Sam's and Wal-Mart until they decide to treat their employees better.
 
I really miss my Costco back in MD! We do not have one up here unfortunately. If we did, I would definitely get a membership again. I was never too thrilled with Sams Club though.
 
I went and loved it! I got the Hummus, roasted red pepper and it is sooooo good! I also love the blueberries for $6, what a great deal! I have to go back soon as I did not even get to see the whole store and they ran out of FREE totes of samples before I got there. My kids were thrilled with all the samples. Do they always have that many samples or was it just because of the opening? We were so full I didn't have to treat for lunch!

That hummus is my favorite!!! Go price it in the grocery. You will be shocked at how expensive it is!!!

I love Costco!!!! We go there at least once a week or every other. I also have the Costco American Ex. card. Wow! It's an awesome deal. I use it for everything. I just make sure I pay the balance in full when I get the bill, and every March they send me a check!
