Comments on High Step Challenge?

This sounds really fun & challenging - what are the cardio sections like? Similar to BC or step aerobic moves?

I'm so impatient for video clips! And this isn't sold thru Collage...

For me, the cardio sections in HSC don't have as much impact as the ones in BC. I'm not saying HSC cardio is "easier", only that it has less impact. And that, for me, means HSC cardio is better for my knees. I think only 2 sections are done on the step; the rest are done on the floor.

Do you have HSTA? There are many similarities between HSC and HSTA. I've read others' posts about HSC being more difficult. Both are tough workouts to me. HSC, thank goodness, doesn't have as many leg presses...

I don't have HSTA, but I saw a partial clip...I wasn't sure how similar they were.

I'll say this, thoses straddle taps kill me! There is also a cardio segment where you do jacks, then a plyp, airborn, tuck jump. a zillion times in a row. you better believe i gulp water in this workout!

I agree with Pinky. I don't think this is as intense as BC. HSC is more of a weight workout. It is similar to HSTA, but the cardio is more fun. I think as far as intensity goes, HSC and HSTA are similar. I still think BC gets me more winded because every segment is a minute and there is less time to catch your breath. I really like HSC, but a couple cardios are easier than others.

THere really isn't much cardio, just one minute blasts. It really is more of a weight tape, and endurance based at that. It is fast paced, so have all your equipment ready before you begin. What it can do for you is test your stamina. It won't build huge strength. But you will be breathing hard.

It is not a fave of mine, but this style of workout isn't either.

If you are looking for a Bootcamp feel workout, this is it.

So, you might do this on days where you want a total body blast kind of workout in an hr.?

I did HSC this morning and I really like this workout a lot. I was better prepared with equipment placement etc. this time, than I was the first time I did it. It made a big difference in the flow of the workout. Since I get most of my cardio in the form of running, I use workouts like HSC to shock my body and keep it guessing. It works. Cathe should be proud of HSC. It is a great workout.

>I use workouts like HSC to shock my body
>and keep it guessing.

Yeah, I think HSC is good for variety training and breaking plateaus. I like it better than Bootcamp because of the less impact.

Cathe has floor cardio and uses aprt of the high step for cardio. The sections are fun but not quite as hard as Bootcamp.

The intervals in between the cardio really did let my HR go down. Where BootCamp would let my HR come down but still kept it at a "working" level.

The band work in HSC....ouch!!! Gotta love that!

Hi,
I did HSC for the first time last evening. I like it but think it is less intense than HSTA especially the cardio sections.

I just did HSC and yes Jes...those straddle taps....YEOW....I really liked it and especially the added band torture. I don't have HSTA but agree with the others here that say HSC isn't a tough as BC. I enjoyed the ab/core work too...:)...Carole

RE: Comments on High Step Challenge - hard to hear Cathe during stretch?

I just did it this morning and thought it was good... HSTA may be a little tougher in my book, but I did enjoy it. I do think the key is having all your equipment ready.

On another note, did anyone find it difficult to hear Cathe during the stretch at the end? I have done it 2 times now and each time I have to constantly look at the TV because I cannot hear her. I turn up the volume and still the same because the music goes up too. Anyone else?

Thanks,
Nancy
