Has Obama said anything about what he plans to do about the immigration issue? (Just asking, there's no subliminal message in the question). I'm just curious what his views are. I totally agree about policing the world - enough already with that!

I agree that we cannot police the world. We have to choose our battles wisely. We can file Iraq in the "what not to do" category. I get SO frustrated when I see individuals, like my aunt who constantly tries to save my soul by converting me to the far right, talk about the need to spread democracy everywhere in the world. Maybe some cultures don't thrive under a democracy. It's pretty presumptuous of us to think so. I am far more concerned with the AIDS epidemic and the ruins left by genocide in Africa. Where were we when thousands upon thousands were being slaughtered there? Where was our country's immense sense of global concern? I don't lay awake worrying about terrorist attacks here. I lay awake worrying about the kind of country my boys will call home. Will it be one that operates under a color-coded threat system and spews scare tactics to try to strong-arm support for unexplainable and seemingly unending wars abroad, all the while ignoring thousands of individuals suffering the effects of a massive hurricane here, at home? Or will it be a country that actually spreads humanitarianism throughout the globe. I don't want my kids to wind up as jaded as their mother has become.

Allison, I think that children here have a future full of challenges ahead of them. Still they are blessed to live in this country. I just hope that they find a way to change it and make it better.

I also vote for neither, however, I really don't like any of the candidates this time around (Republican OR Democrat). I will vote for McCain, however, only because of his experience (I don't care about his age). I am a die-hard Republican, only because I am a very conservative Christian. As much as Bush is criticized/hated right now in America by some, if I could vote for him again, I would in a heart beat. I know a lot of mistakes were made, but a lot of good things were done during his presidency as well. It was nice to know we had a President who would pray to God when making his decisions (he stated this numerous times before) as I believe God is in control of the United States and the whole world! I like to go to bed at night knowing that we have a President who will take charge if we get attacked by terrorists, etc. Just my opinion! Please don't throw stones at me if you disagree!

However, if I HAD to vote Democrat, it would have been for Hillary. I feel she is the more experienced one of the two! I really admired the strength she showed throughout the campaign. I didn't like the way she was treated at times, but she responded with great admiration!

We'll see what happens in the next 5 months -- we're in for a long road!
