Clean Diet?

Hi everybody! I was just wondering what exactly a "clean diet" is, I know the obvious things to stay away from but I was wondering what other things go into making my diet "clean". I live in the Cajun Heartland of Louisiana and we are known for great, FATTENING food and it is hard to stay away from. But I am starting to really try and clean up my diet, I no longer eat white rice, pasta and bread...that was hard!! But any other suggestions would be great! Thanks Rhiannon

Hey, there! I'm in Mandeville. Where are you???

For me, a clean diet is the obvious junk, and all refined carbs, just like you said. I also try to cut out saturated fats and stick with the good fats. Fresh/non-processed instead of the processed stuff is best, altho that's pretty tough for me and something I have to work on. That's pretty much it. My motto, "If God made it, EAT IT!".

I suggest staying away from sugar! When I cut down on my sugar intake I notice a smoother appearance in my skin and better definition in body tone!Your friend in fitness~~Francine

Sugar... I pretty much gave it up in February (my daughter did and lost 10 lbs!). I actually ate some candy a few weeks back and got a HORRIBLE head ache. I know some folks do it in moderation but for me NO SUGAR and NO white flour makes it a lot easier. There are less of those "if I only have 1..."

good luck..

Lots of water helps too!

Hey Robin, I live in Morgan City, but am originally from Iota (between crowley and Jennings...or Lafayette and Lake Charles)
Thanks so much for the suggestions! I have another question, I read the other day about the mercury in tuna and that pregnant women shouldn't eat more than two cans a week. I'm not pregnant but it sparked my curiosity, is it ok for women who are not expecting to eat more than two cans of tuna and also what other fish are high in mercury....salmon? Thanks for the responses!

CAPPUCCINO?

Hi,
While we're on the topic of clean diet, does anyone know how fattening a cappuccino is. Like for instance a french vanilla without any of the whip topping and I'd say it's about an 16oz cup.
My daughter brings me home one every evening and I love em. She says she gets it from the gas station out of the machines. Anyone have any idea's?

thanks
michelle~

I think of eating clean as eating most food as close to its natural state as possible and avoiding refined foods (white sugar and white flour).
