CIRCUIT MAX ?

Hi All,

Have just ordered Circuit Max, and after watching the 10 minute video clip, I am wondering if anyone does lo impact moves instead of hi impact moves in the cardio sections ? Also, would Circuit Max be considered a cardio workout or strength workout ?

Many Thanks

Anna

I modified the high impact moves for quite a while until I could handle the impact and still got a good workout. During the time I was modifying the cardio, I would go heavier with weights to compensate, then as I got more accustomed to the impact, I lightened a bit with the weights to keep my heart from bursting through the skin! :)

Also, I use CM both ways. If using it as a cardio workout, I go really light with the weights (5-10#db), but if using it as a weight training for the week then I'll go heavier with the weights (15-25#db)

It really is a workout you can customize to your specific needs.

I've never been able to go heavy enough on CM to make a strength workout. I don't have the cardio capacity to do all that impact then lift heavy. I modify a lot of the high impact in the hi/lo sections although I don't modify in the step and kickbox sections. I'm a little worried about my shins and hate jumping around on one foot because it seems to aggravate my shins so I usually modify those kinds of moves and the hi/lo section is full of them. It's easy to modify so don't worry about that. You'll get a good workout even if you modify.

Hi Anna

IMO I can't go heavy on CM as I find that just getting through the hi/lo and step sections bad enough. I use it as is and do the hi/lo and power moves, it gets easier the more you do it I would say start by modifying moves and then see how you go.

Thanks Everyone for the CARDIO MAX advice, I now understand how it works, light weights for a more cardio workout, and heavier weights for a more strength workout :)

I just got Circuit Max and viewed it last night. I was exhausted just from watching it! How long did it take you all to complete the video all the way through. I just LOVED seeing men on the video too! How do you mix it in with your routines? Right now I am working out 3 times a week due to the football season so I am thinking about doing this on Fridays or Saturdays (my last days of the week to work out).

I do not modify, but can see how it could easily be done. You might also take the step to 6" instead of 8" during the step portions.

I consider Circuit Max a cardio workout that incorporates some light weights. You get the best of both worlds. Whenever I am short on time and want both cardio and weights, I reach for Circuit Max.

It is awesome!

Hi
There has been quite a few discussions revolving around Circuit Max.You may want to search the forum.I love this workout and do all the high moves etc...My understanding is if you are new to this sort of workout and just beginning weight training it works a bit of strength & cardio. If you are at an advanced level it predominately works as a cardio workout. The fitness pros say that it is not the best form of either exercise however if you are short on time it is a wonderfull way to liven your routine up.

CM is one of my favorites, but I don't do it more than once per week.

I never do it the day before or the day after a weight workout, because I do lift as heavy and heavier than Cathe in some segments. For me it is a great way to get in "cardio" and "weights" in one day. My other "weight day" has no cardio in it unless I play tennis that day.

If you need to modify any part of it, do so. You can work up to the full workout as dictated by your body. You are smart to listen to your body!

Don't ever be afraid to modify anything. I just did CM yesterday and enjoyed it for the first time ever. Although, it was probably only the 5th time I had done it.

I do the hi/lo with half hi impact and half low impact.

I only use a 4" step. Higher aggravates my knees.

I do the strength moves with a 2-2 count instead of singles. Except on the lunge hold thingy's. Those are slow enough not to hurt my knees.

I start with a heavier weight and when it becomes too much immediately pick up a lighter weight for the rest of the section.

My arms are sore today.

I've also done this as only upper body, and did heels during the weight work.

Others use it as only lower body and heavy up.

Have fun!

I count CM as a cardio with some extra benefits from the weights. I don't really think of it as a strength workout. It is one of my favorites! I never tire of it. I LOVE the part where Cathe says "Okay, I'll leave out the monkey noises". I absolutely feel myself smiling out loud every time she says that. I wish she would have done a few monkey noises, but if she had I probably would've laughed so hard I wouldn't be able to finish with good form.
