Chiseled upper body

What a little gem of a workout! Plenty easy to heavy up and get a fast, fun upper body burner!

Swear...that's what I said too!
I just opened this set up a few weeks ago, and this was the first disc I chose. I didn't pre-order this set last year, but I got it for Christmas.

Last year this time (which is nearly a year now) I injured myself, but I can't be certain what happened or how I did it. Even in all my unfortunate crashes while mountainbiking, I have never experienced this type of on-going, debilitation, where you can't walk, not even down the steps are even 20 feet. Maybe it was from riding in the snow, I did have a couple of wipeouts, or lifting/training way too hard to relieve the stress of a nightmare relationship. All I know, something happened, and the first time I knew there was a big problem is when I got out of the car and landed on the street, no support on the left leg.

I'm sorry I am digressing, but this series is turning out to be terrific for me. I'm easing back into working out. I have not been on my beloved chariots since October, 2015, because I realized the torture I felt afterwards was making this injury chronic. Why not go to a doctor...no insurance, its just not right. Anyone without insurance knows the dread.

So the first workout was Upper Body and I am not exaggerating, afterwards I was on my knees in gratitude. After that I was super cautious doing Low Impact Sweat, which is FANTASTIC. Next morning I was dreading my first movements, but I was fine for the rest of the day, pain was around a 3. Accordingly, I've done everything but the lower body leg workouts. Bootcamp, Metabolic and Rock 'M were heavily altered, but that was easy to do. Lowered my weights to single digits and subbed all the impact for light movement on the rebounder. Although, I still can't get the hang of a step, stubbed my toe right away, and that was using only the platform, no risers. Duh, maybe I should put shoes on. I think I will just tape the floor in the size of a step.

Great set, makes me happy and I love the music.
The premixes make my head spin when I see how long the workouts can be, but saving those for a while up the road.

I am truly thankful to be able to move again and thanks so much to someone who knew I'd love these. ;)

Wow DirtDiva! I'm so sorry to hear of your struggles! I know you used to be on the forums a lot and I miss seeing your posts. Life sure can put us in a tailspin but it sounds like you're making the best of a toughie. I just want you to know I'm thinking of you and sending big (((((hugs))))) to you. I will keep you in my prayers!!!

Oh sweet, now seriously, its the first time I have gotten the ((((hugs)))) thing, and I feel it! Thank you, it means a lot.

Yah, life does turn upside-down easily. The positive side is I learned tons on mind/body connection, qi-gong, Pilates and Yoga, not to mention the complicated hip/glute/spinal area of the body. I never thought that Pilates on a reformer could kick my butt so thoroughly.

I want anyone reading this to realize that stress is the killer, its the catalyst that sets one up for unexpected maladies. The year before (2014) I battled intestinal issues and it happened to the day when I couldn't bear a certain *stressor* in my life anymore. It took me a bit over 6 months to fix myself with the side benefit of learning that your gut is connected to your brain and this relationship is vast and far reaching to the entire body.

I talk to much, I always have  . Thanks for the good words and prayers!

Awwww, that's so kind of you, DirtDiva! Isn't it wonderful that life challenges often give us gifts we never would have known otherwise? the mind/body connection is so, so true. It's awesome that you've learned the connection between stress and gut health, etc. Everything truly is connected in all things and knowing that is a huge step forward. I don't think you talk too much at all, I think your journey is interesting and we all get to know a little more about a wonderful Cathlete! Thank you for sharing some of it with us!!!:)

DirtDiva,

I've also been wondering where you've been. I'm glad you're starting to feel better. Thanks for the reminder about keeping our stress in check. I'm contending with dealing with someone that I can't change and trying to change my response to them. It's a process...

Could not agree more with this above. I am a bit late to the party on this!
I did the main+core#1 and stretch.

Bear crawl+plank;):p, can we have it back on upcoming stuff!?

I loved loved and loved the unilateral stuff working upper body.
By the time I got to core on the same unilateral format, it was a great challenge.
This will be visited often when I need something less intense but effective.

Hi Dirt Diva, Just a thought for you: try finding a myofascial release specialist in your area. I have discovered this practice and am loving it. It is helping my deal with the all the problems I've had after being hit by a car (her fault utterly) while riding my bicycle. I had a traumatic injury to my sacrum and coccyx that left me with sciatica for years. This happened several years ago(1989), long before I discovered Cathe. Now I'm having lots of problems stemming from this especially since my hips were so far out of alignment and I didn't know. I do use a foam roller for some self release but you will find a professional can help you immensely. I also find it helps with internal/digestive issues. Best wishes in your recovery, Becky
