Cathlete
Hi girls. Up early and am off to the races. Wish me luck. Didn't get to much sleep. Tummy excitement and 6yo in my bed. UGH!!! Sun sould be coming up soon. Go girls.

Good morning babes!

Gosh, ladies, I feel so terrible that I wasn't able to get here to wish the CHITOWN CHEETAHS good luck:(. Stay safe out there girls as I've heard it's going to be a bit warmer than ideal. {{{{{{GO GO CHEETAHS}}}}}! I just haven't been able to get on the boards between work and computer work FOR work:rolleyes:.

However, KAREN ..... sending some serious {{{{{CHEETAH POWER}}}}}} your way for an awesome half today!!!!! Sorry to hear that you didn't get a good night's sleep but I know you'll have a fabulous race!

I hope to get back here tonight to catch up on personals but, if I don't there's more {{{{{{{CHEETAH SPEED}}}}}}}}} goin' out to WENDY and SHELLY!

Have a fabulous weekend ladies!

Good luck Karen! You go girl!!!!! Can't wait to hear your report!

Hope everyone in Chicago is having a great time! Wish I could be there! Enjoy...be safe and good luck!!!!!

Wendy, Shelly - You guys have fun and good luck, too!!!!

Wendi - I hope you are doing better!

I am not doing anything today, workout-wise. Tomorrow we are doing 23 miles and that is going to be my last long run before tapering. I am leary of doing another 20+ mile run since we did one last week, but we got off track a week and I feel I need to get one more in. If I waited until next week, I feel it would be too close the the race. Anyway.......I guess we will do it this way :)

Hey everyone!!!!!

Good Morning Loverly Cheetahs!

GO KAREN GO!!!! Hope you set a PR and simply have a great time!!!:cool::cool:

Dallas – Kimo is a lucky dog, but I think the homemade dog food is what has enabled her to hang on so long. Real food, unlike that crap the vet recommended. If real food is better for us, it HAS to be better for dogs, too. My friend did not take a pay cut – they offered her 1/3 OVER what she makes with my company. I won’t tell anyone that you said you want to train for something if you don't ... ;)

Wendy – rest well today! I’ll be cheering for you, too, tomorrow!! :D:D:D

Judy – I’m glad you like the eggplant stew recipe! You had a houseful! How fun!

Posh – The airlines are getting ridiculous! A layover in DALLAS for Chicago from California. Yep, makes perfect sense to me!!! Glad you made it though! Looking forward to meeting you and the rest, too! Hope you got some much needed sleep. I plan to indulge on the plane (in sleep that is).

Wendi – I’ll pass on your well wishes to the Chi-town Cheetahs. I’m taking the laptop. Sorry work is so much, well, work… Hope it gets easier!

Linda – I’ll be cheering for you tomorrow, too, running your last 23 miler before the big event!! I cannot wait to hear about your race, too!! :)

I’m tired and feeling it from a little too much wine yesterday. But that’s okay. It’s not like I have to do too much before I hop on a plane and jet off to Chicago! I’ll try to check back after I meet up with everyone! I’m so STOKED! Have a fabulous day everyone!

Good Morning.

Thanks for the good vibes for tmrw Karen and Wendi.

Must shoot 'em right back at ya for today, Karen!
GO CHEETAH GO!!!
I know you won't be reading this until the race is over but I'll say it anyway BE CAREFUL if it IS indeed a bit warm/humid out. You are gonna do great though! Can't wait to hear about it later on! :D:D:D

Wendi: Sorry you've had to sit in front of the computer for work and not Cheetah time. That's got to be the worst! What a tease! :p So didja sign up for Philly yet? I've decided against it. I am thinking of doing a local event the weekend after instead. It's a 15k that I did last year and I really enjoyed it. We WILL find a race to do together though! :) I don't know if you were around to read about it but for a brief second I actually considered entering the FULL marathon at Philly! Thankfully Carole talked some sense into me. ;) I'm pretty confident I could've gotten through it using the run/walk method but she was right in that I am simply not properly trained for a full yet. If I had a little more time then it may have been an option.

Linda: I think doing the 23 miles THIS weekend is a better option then waiting and doing it too close to the marathon. It's also a better idea then not doing it all. I would say that as long as you feel fully recovered from last week's run that back to back long run's one time would not be a big deal. Just take slow, smart and safe, ofcourse. :) Ofcourse, this is all coming from someone who hasn't even BEGUN her full mary training yet so take or leave my advice as you see fit! :p

Christine: You probably won't read this until you get back but have a safe trip and have a blast! Thomasina checked in late last night that she'd finally met up with Cathy. You girls are gonna have so much fun together. I'm soooo incredibly jealous but this race is important to me. I just couldn't give it up. We will HAVE to find another reason to get as many of us together as we can over the next year!!!!:D

Hopefully this is not TMI for anyone but I'm gonna post it anyway. :p I'm a leetle pist right now but also relieved. Ya see, my last monthly was in September. About 2 weeks before it was due again in October I started feeling nauseaus. No throwing up or anything. Just waves of nausea. Ofcourse I thought perhaps I was pg. I took a tests a few days before I was due (you can do that now-very cool!) and one once I was late and they both came up negative. Still nauseaus but it was waning. Finally the nausea went away entirely but flow was still no where to be found. Last week I took one final test, STILL negative. This morning I got up to find that it had FINALLY arrived along with some wonderful cramps. I am relieved that it is finally here but dagnamit now I have to deal with it tmrw!...
GRRRRRR!

I still want to take Centergy today provided the cramps aren't bad. Has anyone ever heard that it's no good to do inverted yoga poses during that time of the month? Do you believe it? I've never listened to it. Should I??? I wouldn't bother taking the class if I couldn't do the inverted poses as there are lots of downward dogs in it.

I gues that's all for now. Time to fill that coffee cup back up!!!!

SAFE TRAVEL VIBES FOR CHRISTINE AND CAROLE TODAY!!!!!!!!!:D

It's 9:30 and my lazy DH is STILL sleeping! LOL I slept in today too-got up at 7am! ;)

So I have to decide if I am going to this class at 10:30 or not cause if so, I have to wake up DH and get my arse in gear to leave the house at 10ish!

Hmmm.....Decisions decisions. :p

Decided to trade in the yoga mat for dish-pan hands. YUP, opted to clean the house instead.

What is wrong with me!?!? :p

I am taking a lunch break right now but I've been at it for about 2 1/2 hours now. I have a small house. What does THAT tell you!?!

I'm Back. Full race report later but I made it HILLS and all. Boy were those hills killer. Off to soak in an ice bath. Calf is doing:mad::mad:. Chip time was 2:08.05 I'm so happy with the day. Go Girls racing tomorrow. It's your turn.

Hello Cheetah pals!

Cathy: I have been thinking about you a lot this weekend. I can't wait to hear about the race! Sending good vibes your way! You have worked hard for this and I have nothing but confidence in you! :)

Wendy: Sending the vibes to you too girl! Good luck tomorrow. You will do GREAT! :)

Judy: You are getting in some nice workouts!

Posh: GOOD LUCK!!!! After all the other marathons you've done this will probably be a cake walk! ;)

Carole: Sorry you were having snafus with the nutrition software. What a pain. I am sure you are having a hoot in Chi town with the girls! :)

Karen: You have trained hard! You will do great today! :)

Christine: I have been feeling bad for not checking in or being short on the personals. It is just hard sometimes since I have taken on this Advanced Studies class that has turned out to be a lot of work. PLEASE do check in and let us know how much FUN you girls are having! :)

Linda: Kick some butt out there tomorrow!!!!! In my teen years I remember swearing under my breath at Tamilee during those Buns of Steel workouts! :)

Jackie: I am impressed your shopping is done already! Wow! Apparently you are not a procrastinator like me. :) Great workouts!

Shelly: GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!!!! Post some pics if you can! :)

Dallas: You have been busy! I so hope you can meet with the girls in Chicago!

I have been running a lot this week. Got in 4.2 today. I never did get to that BC/ME combo so that will be tomorrow's workout.

I have been thinking of all our racing Cheetahs on my runs. You are all truly a wonderful group of ladies. GOOD LUCK!!!! :)

P.S. In the November issue of Runner's World the Rave Run is on my turf! The picture was taken in our Upper Peninsula. Pretty cool I thought! :)

Hi!

Karen- Way to go you had a great time!!!! Dang it all about the calf are you icing and taking ibuprofin?

Gloria- I haven't got my RW yet. I renewed this month and I might actually miss a month. Thanks re my workouts!

Speaking of missing a month.... Wendy- Well the good news is your not running your 18 miler pregnant! Do your cramps usually last more than 24 hrs? Oh dear I am praying that they do not.

Christine- Did you gat some good zzzzz's on the flight?

Ok tomorrows racers: Cathy. Posh, Wendy & Shelly I am saying a big prayer for all of you to have a great experience tomorrow!!! You will bethought of fondly by all Cheetahs I am sure !!!!!!! Now Christine and Carole get out there and cheer for all of us...Christine told me we should be hearing her here in NY!!!! I 'm listening!

Ok, time to go dry my hair. We are having dinner with the Grandparents.

Workout was a pleasant 30 minute run in the park at DD17's Regatta site. Gotta love making good use of time!

Ok, here is my first ever half race report. Have to say last night's sleep wasn't my best with the nerves and of course of all night dd gets scared. Wound up getting up after her feet kept kicking me in the back and sleeping in her bed. Wasn't too much longer and I had to get up anyway. We decided to go ahead and get downtown early since we wanted to avoid all the street closures. Worked out perfectly. The kids got up and brushed their teeth even the fraidy cat and were excited to see the sun come up. They were so amazed it was still dark. It never dawned on me they had not seen a sunrise and that this was the highlight of there morning. We got very good parking. When I got there I got the kids hair done and fed them breakfast and before you knew it we went over to Celebration Village which was underway with the marathoners going off. I felt like time flew this morning. Anyway got the kids there fun run shirts and faces painted and balloon animals and then left dh with them for there race because I had to head over to mine. My race began at 9:50 since I was in the second wave of the half. The girls had to go off on the Fun run at 9:30 which I was so mad I missed but dh filmed it as best he could.I had a goal for myslef today of 2:15 and anything above that I would going to be elated. If I went over 2:15 I was good with that too since I know this course is hilly and I didn't train hills but once a week. Anyway I had to walk to the half start which was 12 min from where I was at. I timed it. :p I was thinking on the way over to the start point that I'm going to live the moment and enjoy it all and I did. So I get to the wave #2 start and wait patienlty for only 15-20 min or so. I was able to watch the marathoners on both sides of me because the north marathoners where at mile 7 and the south marathoners were at mile 13 at that point. The half was in the middle between the two sides. So the first wave goes off at 9:45 and then wave two walks to the start. I set my watch since I know the clock time will be off by 5-6 min. So we go. Tons of confiete blow over me. So neat. Low and behold is the first hill dead ahead. I'm thinking ok. I can do this. So I get up it in and turn the cornor and then the next hill. Then again and again and again. The first 4 miles where a series of turns and hills. I was at mile two and some women next to me said " I don't think I can do this" then other people were already walking. I'm talking steep hills. I ran everyone of them B*tches. :D I was in between the first wave and the second at mile 3. You could tell becasue the bibs were marked with a 1,2, or 3. So at this point the half merges with the full. If I thought I was bumper to bumper people little did I know. I mean wall to wall people. I have never seen so many runners of different shapes sizes ages. It was so wonderful to see all these people with a common goal. Mile 5 was the worst. I think the entire mile was a hill. At mile 6-7 it was flat. Yeah flat. We went around a lake where I grew up near and there was an awesome band playing. Tons of crowd support like you can't imagine. Why anyone wore a headset was beyond me. I saw two girls handing out pretzles dressed like 80's fitness teachers. I swear it would have been Olive Newton John herself standing there singing Physical. I was amazed. Regular people jsut giving support and handing out gummie bears and candy and cheers. Tons of people with bells and drums. It was amazing. Fast forward to mile 9. Gummie Bear Mile is it's name. It is the last giant hill. The mile is right though an entire neighborhood of running fans. I hear a loud speaking playing Eye of the Tiger. I round the cornor and there are two people dressed as tigers jumping on there car cheering you on. Then the one side of the street stands there and hands out gummie bears. This man in the middle stands in the street and high fives all the runners. This was my favoirte mile and didn't even know it was a hill because of all the excitement going on. Then finally I know I'm in the home stretch mile 10-13. The first two miles were a good ways down hill. This is where I really pulled my claf. Last mile I could see the Stadium from in the distance. I all of a sudden got amazing feet and blew by tons of runners. I saw dh and my kids on the side as I was coming in yellling. Go mom. I was so thrilled I started to cry. I met up soon after with dh and the girls and we got a few snacks and headed home. Best race ever. I stopped my watch and it said 2:08. I was so happy to have done this well for such hills and it being my first. I really was expecting like 2:15. I went and got my chip time and it said 2:08.5 . Apparelty I have a good watch.

On a side note it was hot as hell today. I am sunburned on my legs, neck and arms. Most guys ran without shirts. I didn't seem to care to much though. I did what I set out to do and enjoy myself and I did. I feel so sorry for those I saw walking back and dropping out, or those on the side with leg cramps and toppled over. They work so hard to have that happen and my heart went out to them. Each race as I can see is so differnt. Differnt weather, mood, stomach issues :p I have learned that each one teaches you how grateful you shoud be that you can run and are able to. I saw this one little girl walking up the hill with CP. She had two crutches and a walker near by. All I could think of was how lucky I am to be doing this right now and how lucky I am to have my family with me and friends I don't know like all of you thinking about me today and wishing me the best. I really felt it.

Iced my claf. Stupid thing. I swear. I have two bad knees which feel GREAT and a calf that came out of the blue two weeks ago killing me right now.. I really can't complaing becaue it was worth every bit of what ails me right now.

Go LBI and Chicago. Your turn

One more more thing. I think I may do a full as I sit here coming off my half high.

Good evening Cheetahs!

Linda - Enjoy your rest day! Good luck with the 23 miles tomorrow.

Christine - Have a safe trip. Cheer hard enough for all us.

Wendy - Were you hoping to be pregnant? Glad your monthly showed up but it could have waited another day. Hope the cramps are all gone by tomorrow. Good luck tomorrow!

Karen - Great time for your half! Congratulations! Glad the girls got to see a sunrise. Loved your race report! Enjoy that icing and relaxing.

Gloria - I haven't started my shopping yet.:( I use to in days gone by get it all done by Veterans Day. I'm lucky now if I can finish by Christmas Eve. Just can't find the motivation to get out there. I'll have to check that article out about Rave Run.

Judy - Enjoy dinner with your grandparents. Nice run!

I got in 9 miles this morning. Had to ditch the neighbor's darn dog again. Wish they would pay attention to what she's doing. The last mile was the hardest and I could feel my hamstrings a little. I still managed a 10:12 pace and that's pretty good. My goal is a 10:00 pace. Came back home and did Cathe's Basic Stretch and some foam rolling. Took a hot bath. Legs feel pretty good now.

Good luck to Wendy and Shelly with the 18 miler tomorrow. Good luck to the Chicago Cheetahs running in the Windy City. Go Cheetahs Go!!

GREAT JOB KAREN!!!! YAY!!!!!! And you're considering a full? You know it's a great race when you want to run more!

Quick note to tell everyone that we're all here! I met up with Carole at the airport and we took a cab in. We came to the hotel and dropped off our stuff - Carole fell off the bed, then we went for a salad. We ended up meeting up with Posh and Cathy at "The Bean" - a giant bean made out of the same reflective material as a lawn globe. Carole has photos and we will post them later. Then on the way back to the hotel, I tripped while walking - good thing I'm not running tomorrow. Carole and I decided that the two blondes probably should not have roomed together.... But she's pretty great! :D

Cathy and Posh are as wonderful as you can imagine! I'm so lucky to be here with them. The Cheetahs are a wonderful crew!

We're going to meet up with Dallas for dinner. So must run, but we'll definitely post photos later.

Just ate my celebration half dinner. Subway's Foot long turkey sub on whole wheat toasted with lettuce, tomatoe, onions, and lite mayo. All mine. Then I ate two huge choc chip cookies and downed it with some ice water.:p

YUMMY :D:D

checking the stats on the balto boards.

Chip time- 2:08.3

Total half runners- 6224/ I came in 2579 overall

Females in half 3673/ I came in 1291

I really should go to bed. I'm dog tired. Icing my claf on and off and it's helping. I'm sure eveyone else is sleeping. Don't mind me.

Karen - What a wonderful race report! I felt like I was there witnessing it! Congratulations! That is a wonderful time! I am sorry about your calf! Hopefully, after icing it and resting, it will be better! Yummy! A footlong all to yourself! You deserved it and it was well earned!!

Christine - Thanks for letting us know you guys all made it safe and sound! LOL...sorry about your "trip". Hope you didn't get hurt!

Jackie - Great job on your 9! Gosh darn dog, anyway! That has got to be so aggravating! Great time on your 9!!

Wendy - I sure hope you aren't cramping during your race! Good luck!

Judy - Good job on your run!

Gloria - I wondered if that was near you! It was beautiful! I did see it in the mag! Good job on your run!

Good luck EVERYONE! Sending prayers your way!

Run, Cheetahs, Run!

Hey Girls.

I'm heading to bed. Just wanted to pop in and say good night first.

I MUST congratulate Karen on a fantastic performance today! Forgive me but I haven't had the time to read your race report. I will definately do that tmrw while I am coming down off my race high before I "crash". LOL Actually, if I am awake enough I'll read it in the morning instead! :)

So I gathered up all my stuff for the morning plus made a list to be sure I don't forget anything. We plan to leave here between 7 and 7:15. Much earlier then I originally thought was neccessary! Thank goodness for Shelly or I really could have blown the whole thing! YIKES!

Anyway, went to see "Eagle Eye" at the movies tonight with DH after dropping Joey off at my mom's. EXCELLENT flick!

Gotta head to bed now...not that I'll sleep much. LOL

I'll be checkin' in in the morning. I always make sure to get up early enough to relax with my coffee before I have to start getting ready. ;)

I don't know who I'm more nervous/excited for....myself or Cathy and Posh!? :D

Nighty Nighty!
