Cathlete
G'morning, cheetahs :)

Marcia :: I’m really enjoying the X – until this week, I’ve done all the weight workouts faithfully but subbed for some of the other stuff and am still seeing positive changes…again, nothing big happening on the scale, but what I can see in the mirror and feel in my clothes is good!!!…I haven’t read my BFFM cover-to-cover, either…I consult it on an as-needed basis…you’ll find all you need to know on zig-zagging…it really does kick your metabolism into gear!!!…Hope you did well at weigh-in…and WTG on the successful circuit class! It’s always a good feeling to know your students enjoy the class!

Laura :: it was here 81 here in Jersey yesterday, so I know what you mean about the warm temps! Hard to believe I will be skiing (I hope!) on Saturday. Hope the bronchitis clears for you soon!

Heather :: yes, I am a morning person!!…I think I have medium-to-high arches…I don’t use foot powders, but I recently discovered inexpensive socks at Target…They are $3.99 for two pair…The brand is Peds On the Move – they are cushioned, have moisture control, and are low on the ankle. I used to buy Wigwam and other expensive running socks, but I’m hooked on these now.

Shelly :: you’re right – I think I needed the sleep. Did you wind up taking an actual rest day?

Gayle :: I’m not far from you & we went up to 81 (!!) yesterday…Great w/out including the Frisbee toss – sounds like fun. :) It’s great how active you are with your kids. They are lucky to have a mom like you!…Sure, let me know if you want to get the shirts going, and I will forward the info to you…I don’t have any of the iCycles or iTrains, so I can't help there…re: bis & tris, I am seeing good results from P90 so far…

Kristi :: I say keep the appointment!

Carole :: you never needed to go the Accutane route, right? But I think I remember you saying your niece did…

Jess :: I’m glad the trigger point link seemed to help…I know I run into problems with my calf muscles getting too tight, esp. in that area. Try doing the self-massage with your knee a few times a day. Maybe the foam roller on that spot, too? I use The Stick on my calves and that seems to help. Have fun @ your mom’s!

Jackie :: thanks – it’s reassuring to know that the X would be tough on even a well-rested body! I haven’t done RTTC in a while…maybe I should dust that one off. Enjoy that warm weather you’re having!…I’m watching DWTS, too, but in dribs & drabs. Who was voted off last night? I didn't catch it.

Susan :: good luck @ the chiro today! I’m glad yesterday you were having a better day. Injuries are understandably frustrating, and I am starting to feel equally exasperated about about my current situation, too. I have never had this kind of exhaustion before, and I feel myself becoming obsessed and worrying about it. I just hope my doc will find a solution…I know I can’t go off these meds, but maybe a tweak of the dosage will be possible…fingers crossed!!…As for the perfect eating, uhhhhh… :) I don’t strive for perfect, but I’m doing reasonably well.

Wendy :: hope the last remnants of your cold disappear so you can get back to your normal intensity!

Linda :: thanks ~ it is a heavy meeting week at work this week, so the long days make for energy-zappers, too. Awesome workout!!

Christine :: sorry to hear about the trainer…and especially sorry to hear about DH’s blaming himself for Tucker’s death…I hope he comes to recognize that there’s only one person responsible – the woman on her cell phone driving that car. I wonder if SHE is racked with guilt!…The interview sounds like it was a bright spot in your day – glad it went well. When will you know?

Judy :: those were such kind words you posted to Susan about our cheetah group. Warm fuzzies!! Where are you headed on your beach vaca?

Yesterday, I played by ear and opted for ANOTHER rest day (2nd day in a row). I went for a nap around 5:30-ish and that was it. I woke up for about 1/2 hour to catch part of DWTS and then I was out cold again. I do feel well-rested this morning and will try to work out in the afternoon. Right after school would be best. Since I'm taking one week off from the X, I don't feel bad trying to play the catch-up game. With skiing this weekend, it would be impossible to get it right. So, this'll actually work out well because I'm off from work the week after Easter, and I'd rather go for a hardcore workout week that week instead of doing the recovery week, which is what I'd have if I kept to the current schedule. Not sure if that makes sense, but anyway, long story short: I'm cool with taking the one-week break.

Yesterday I had my annual eye appointment and have decided to schedule a consultation for lasik surgery. Has anyone had that done?

~Cathy :)

Those who indulge...bulge!

Good morning cheery cheetahs!

cathy- good for you taking a break. i hope you have a great ski trip.

today's workout is p90x b & b. plus some form of cardio (30 mins). dh bought ice cream the other day and i couldn't resist any longer last night:p :9
yesterday i did BBC's legs and butt. i also added in some squats using my smith machine. my legs are feeling it today.

i am off to the gym. busy, busy, day today.

have a great hump day everyone:)

Good Morning Cheetahs.

Cathy, DH's sister had lasik or something similar done and my DH's BIL's BIL had it done. They are both THRILLED! They said it was quick and painless and are VERY happy with thier decision. Good luck with it!:) Congrats on your future acquisition of BBC!}(

Sunny, I hope your busy day is a fun one! I wish you only the cool clients!;) So how much more time until your cruise?? It's got to be close now!!!!:+

I have legs and back and arx on tap today.

BBL!:)

Good morning all,

Sunny - Have a great day, busy ones go by so fast - make sure to enjoy it ;-)

Cathy - BBC for your birthday!! WOW, how fun! I hope you are feeling better soon, too, sounds like this cold has been hanging on forever with you. It sure does seem weird, 80's in weather and then you will be skiing soon. :)

Well, weigh in was good, but it didn't change my ticker below. I had gained some over the past few weeks so last night I lost 4.8 pounds according to the WW scale, but that puts me back at where I was a few weeks ago. I am happy don't get me wrong, but it's that imaginary line that I can't seem to cross, ya know. I 190's are just haughting me

I have circuit class tonight }( }( }( so I'll be switching things up a bit to keep it interesting and fresh.

Have a great day everyone!
Marcia.

Good morning cheetahs and happy hump day :) I was able to get in
a BBC workout yesterday. I did Legs & Butt and the non TM cardio.
It was a great challenging workout and rejuvenated me for work:)

Cathy- A rest week sounds good! I'll bet you'll really be able to enjoy your upcoming ski weekend even more:) I've known a few people who have had the lasik surgery and none have been disappointed. The
risks these days are pretty minimal. I'm really enjoying the BBC
workouts so far.... great present!

BusyBusySunny- Hope you have a great day.... probably have 50 or so clients I imagine:D I guess Legs & Butt was the workout of the day yesterday, I think Carole did this one too.

Wendy- Well, I am totally bummed!!! I received a reply from Kathy S. It appears that they were inundated with requests similar to mine about letting others take classes, or go to events in their place.
I guess Cathe, et al. decided it would be to chaotic and difficult to keep track of so they are limiting all classes and events to those who are registered x( Oh crud!!! I am so happy though that you will be there anyway and there will be still be lots of extra time where we can all have fun:7 Okay girl.... a CHALLENGE????? I accept (of course), but I have to wait til Thurs or Fri when I have had a full night sleep and am off that night! Back to back, BBC, L&B and the B&G leg blast premix

Linda- I'm sorry I wasn't able to reply to your question yesterday
and I hope you can read this before your workout this morning.
As long as your workout isn't too long or strenuous (like over an hour) and your drink plenty of water it shouldnt skew the results of your blood work. There are certain chemistries that definitely get affected if you are dehydrated.

Judy- It was great reading your post yesterday:) :) I love your
50 is the new 40 remark! Starting a GS rotation:eek: Have you been running any lately?

Gayle- I have a couple of iCycles and use a standard stationary exercise bike. I really like the variety of crosstraining it supplied and take my work for it.... you get a great sweatdrenching
cardio workout!

Jackie- Hiya! I only have one Jari Love w/o and I must admit it's the only workout I regret purchasing (I have Slim&Lean) I guess she's just not my style. My twin isn't into fitness at all!! In fact we have little in common other than having the same mother and being born at the same time...... go figure! (But I love her :) )

Susan- I'm so sorry your back continues to be a problem for you. I hope the new chiropracter can offer some solutions for you. I do hope you fully explore all other options before considering surgery.
But I don't need to tell you that.... you are one smart cookie!
My next race is an exciting one!!! The RUN For the Cheetah! It's a
5k with proceeds going for the preservation of the cheetah. The run is around the Phoenix Zoo. It will be on April 21st.

Christine- Your DH's guilt feelings are heartbreaking!!! He must be a gentle soul to be feeling this so deeply when it really wasn't his fault at all :( Time will heal this of course and he has you in the meantime..... no better therapy IMO.

Time to get busy here.... Today will be a 5 mile interval run:7

Hey ladies,
had another minute to peek back in and it's going non-stop until the end of the day.

cathy- you are welcome. cookies and cream...:9 . congrats on getting BBC for your bday!! i tell ya us working out ladies are crazy, we don't want the usual things for our bday's, want workouts and workout gear, lol.

wendy- only 18 more days and we are cruisin':) :) . got us all signed up for a couple of excursions. bought a few bathing suits over the last couple of days also.:D have you finished your pt exam?

marcia- i wanna take your circuit class. sounds killer yet fun at the same time.

shelly- i am not the only busy bee around here. you too are one hard working lady. enjoy your workout today.

ttyl...

Good morning, ladies! The weather is supposed to warm again today, but not as warm as yesterday. Lots of activity yesterday with the kids….more Frisbee, baseball, etc. Love it all!

This morning was another 7 mile run. This time I just steadily increased the speed and ended up at an 8:25 pace. Felt really good on the legs to pelt it out. Then I added on the push ups from the Gym Styles AND did GS Tris. Feel like I got a great upper body workout in. Tomorrow is another longer run (8 mile hill repeats) and then 2 slower days before Sunday’s long run. Anybody have a treadmill workout that includes hill repeats? If not, I’m going to try to make one up myself. ANYWAY……………

With all this talk of BBC, I may have to use it as incentive for a good performance on my half in April. Maybe. I'm looking forward, honestly, to being able to run when I WANT to, as opposed to following a tight training schedule. I just keep telling myself that the taper is coming SOON! LOL

Cathy-thanks for your kind words! I have always been active, so it’s pretty easy to keep my kids busy. It was simply gorgeous out yesterday, wasn’t it? I had my windows open till we went to bed last night! As for the shirts, what kind of turn around time did you have? I will wait till we get closer, and then I’ll let you know when I’m ready to get the info from you! Thanks! And LASIK!! I’m jealous of even considering it! My sis works for an eye hospital and had it done a few years ago and says it’s the best thing she ever did for herself! I’d LOVE to have it done, but it’s not financially at the top of the list for me right now!

SunnyD-so it’s your turn for ‘the ice cream incident’, hugh? LOL. I’ve been able to avoid it since my episode last week. Have a fun busy day!

Marcia-keep working it. Eventually the scale will catch up with you! Promise! How often and when do you weigh in? I go Friday mornings (btw, I maintained at WI last week, which was a bit of a disappointment, but with my ice cream ‘incident’ last week, I kind of understood.) KEEP WORKING IT!!!!!!

Shelly-Thanks for the input on iCycle. I ended up buying one last night, because I got ANOTHER FREE CODE for iTread. It’s AH2007. I don’t have the first one written down so I thought this was the same one, but it took it and now I’m the proud owner of iCycle 9. I’m going to try it soon.

Wendy-I saw the post from Cathe about limiting the classes to RT’ers also. But at least you’ll be there. I really hope we all get some time to get to know each other in REAL life! LOL

Good morning!

Cathy - I think with as tired as you have been ....it is definitely a good thing that you took two rest days! That is great about the visible results with the X! I am anxious to start another rotation. I think you will like BBC! Yay!!!

Sunny - Good workout! I would love to have a Smith Machine! Have a good..busy day! ;-)

Wendy - Enjoy L&B and ARX!!

Marcia - Good job on the weight loss! Have fun with the circuit class!!

Shelly - No problem! I understand! I already had done my workout...and my bloodwork. I think I screwed up royaly! I did a very long, intense workout. :-( I know I was dehydrated because she couldn't get any blood the first stick...but did on the second one. She said "Have you not been drinking any water"? Well...YES...I had drank around 64 oz. Anyway...I will know next time :) Good workout yesterday and enjoy your run today!

This morning I did LIC Cardio Blast and then the Blast only, and GS Legs. It was a good workout!

Linda

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...no, I never needed Accutane. RetinA works really well for me, so I fight with my insurance every year to get it covered...:)...my niece did try Accutane. I think her acne is worse than mine was then. Sorry you were zonked yesterday, I took a nap myself...I have had some clients do Lasik with good results. Cool....I think you will like the BBC's...(especially Joey)...:)

Sunny...don't you hate when your DH tempts you with stuff like Ice cream!! Have fun at the Gym.

Marcia...I hope your circuit class goes well...

Shelly...yes, I did do BBC L&B yesterday and the TM cardio on my EXT. That challenge of Wendy's looks tough...:)

Gayle...sounds like a fast run yesterday. What is your goal for this half coming up?

Linda...yes I am liking the BBC's. Not sure if I will do them for 3 or 4 weeks...Good workout today!

Wendy...I have not checked out the cardio on BBC's S&B or Chest. Maybe today I will check out Joey's...:)...WOW, that challenge looks like a leg burner!! Have you done it??? Enjoy your Leg & Back workout today.

Judy...no, I am sure my cat is really gone...:(...I really like the GS workouts. So where is your beach vacation.

Today is BBC S&B...Yippee!! Also some floor legs and a 3 mile run...

Have a great day.....:)

Gayle - I weigh in on Tuesdays if I can, I LOVE the leader on that night and if I can stay she really motivates me. I couldn't last night :-( but I was motivated by the loss, so that was good. :) I have the monthly pass so that's nice, I go or not whenever I can fit it in. I started using the eTools yesterday and I love it! It keeps track on the web and I don't feel like I'm obsessed about eating. When I write it down in a journal all I do is think about food, but for some reason putting it on eTools doesn't get me to that point of constantly thinking about food. I hope it stays that way ;-) .

Take care,
Marcia.

Hi again!

Carole---you had to ask! LOL I was just thinking about that this morning during my run! lol I have to go back and look at last year's time, but I think I had a chip time of around 1:51:00. I'd like to beat that. But I don't want to be obssessive about it, ya know? LOL. Somehow, I have to find the middle ground between setting a realistic goal (which I feel I have) and not killing myself to do it!

Marcia-they don't offer the monthly pass at our location here. But, I'll only be paying for another week or 2 (3 at the most), cuz I'm close to goal to begin with. I've heard great things about eTools, and the best part for ME is the recipe builder. I love plugging in my own recipes and finding out how they rank in points!

Gayle

Gail - Wow! You really are running some miles there! Great job! Good job on the pushups and tri's, too!

Carole - Enjoy your workout today! Sounds great! Yes...working out with Joey is good ;-) :+

Linda

Gayle...yes, I had to ask! It is tough not to get obsessive about times and realistic goals are smart...I bet you will do very well...

Linda...yes, I am off to watch Joey.....oh, I mean workout with Joey...:+ :7 :)

Good morning Cheetahs!!

Jess - I will have to give the circle pilates a try. Is yours Winsor Pilates? Missed who got voted out on DWTS because the station had technical difficulties. Glad you're enjoying your time at your mom's and she's helping your calf.

Cathe - So glad you're feeling more rested today. You'll need some energy for skiing. Hope you can get in a good workout. Your plans sound good. Stayed up to watch DWTS and still didn't see who got voted off. I know that it was between Paulina and Shandi. Darn that tv station. Yay for BBC!!

Sunny - I'm sure you worked that ice cream off. Have a great day at the gym.

Marcia - Next weigh in will be great. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Shelly - BBC rejuvenated you, huh? Laughing at your comment about you and your twin only having a mom in common. LOL!! S&L is my least fav of Jari's. Too many squats and lunges I think. How was your run? Signed up for a 5K on April 14. Want to test these legs. Ordered me some new running shorts too so that I can look all cute and stuff. :)

Gayle - Good job on the 7 miles and GS! Don't have any hill repeat workouts but would be interested in what you come up with.

Linda - Nice workout! I don't like to drink a lot of water before my bloodwork either. I'll usually go for a lighter workout that day because I like to do a fast the morning of.

Carole - Enjoy your workout!

I did iTread #13. This is a 30 minute workout with 20 of it being pure sprints. I did it twice and got in 5 miles. Trying to keep the incline at 2% when I do sprints and intervals. Did Stretch Max #3. Got some DOMS from Jari yesterday.

Have a happy Wednesday!

Jackie

Jackie - I should have done a ligher workout, too. But, I did drink a lot of water...but I guess I sweated most of it out :-( We were required to fast beforehand, but we were supposed to drink. That sounds like a really tough iTread workout! 20 minutes of sprints! I would be dying! And you did it twice! Did it have hills or anything? I may have to download that one! (hopefully, I would survive it :+ )

Linda

Good morning cheetah gals,

I have a pretty busy day today. I have an appointment with the chiro to get the results of my xrays and maybe an adjustment and then I am having Indian food with my girlfriends, YUM!! I finally lost those couple pounds I gained over my b-day, but I feel them coming back today}(

I think I will do 30 minutes on the elliptical and then a pilates dvd. I have been reading a lot about pilates and how it has really helped with back problems and even sometimes have cured it. I thought that yoga was so wonderful for the back , but I guess a lot of the twisting and endless forward bends are really not that great for an injured back. So, now I am going to go buy a bunch of pilates dvds. I never really liked it, but we will see. I need a new obsession anyway;-)

Cathy, I am so sorry about you not having the energy that you used to have due to your meds. I would definitley not put up with that. I would go to the doctor immediately and see if they can switch it up a bit. I know what you mean about obsessing about stuff like that. I spend so much of time trying to find ways to fix my back. It really is exhausting.

sunnydelite, I know what you mean about the ice-cream. My little Mariah is now obsessed with mint chip everynight and I always get the left overs. It is so yummy when it is soft and kind of soupy:9

Wendy, how do you feel today? I think I am now going to have to get the BBC. You are all enablers}(

Marcia, great job with the weight loss. It is so frustrating the whole scale thing and how we all monitor it. Just keep doing what you are doing and you will get to where you want to be:)

Shelly, yes, I will definitley explore everything before surgery. I am not one to give up, so this will not get the best of me. I am just constantly trying to find new ways to train to see what happens. These injuries definitley make us think out of the box and I think that is a good thing. Do you have any pilates recommendations?

Gayle, have you always been a runner and do you also enjoy Cathe's step and kickboxing? Great job on adding in the upper body. I like to end a workout with weights, it makes me feel so accomplished.

Linda, Great workout!!! I will have to pull out gs legs. That is definitley a burner.

CArole, you are another BBC fan. I am going to check it out. Hey, any pilates dvd's recommendation? I want something challenging. Have a good run and hope the glute is feeling good.

Jackie, what is DTWS? Great workout for you this morning. I am looking like a realy wimp compared to you ladies:)

That is it for me for now ladies. I will be bbl with the results of my xrays.

Cheers!

Susan

I needed a break for a few minutes. So, here I am.

Linda - The sprints had no hills. It was flat country all the way. I tried to keep up with the runners a couple of times. I don't know how well I would have done if Grace had thrown a few hills into the mix. Then she did about a 10 minute stretch at the end. I repeated the sprints and then did a little of the stretching.

Susan - Forgot to mention that Winsor Pilates has a 20 minute workout for the back that I really like. Some people are bothered my Mari but she doesn't bother me at all. Guess I'm too focused on the workout itself. Some yoga poses bother my back too. Even when I take a live class, if the instructor trys to push me to go deeper into a position, I will tell them no. I know my limits. Hope the chiro can help.

DWTS is Dancing With The Stars.

Jackie

Hey ladies,
I just got back from my chiro appointment and I am really really happy with what this guy said. I took my hubby with me just for some feedback later. He said that I definitley have a pinched nerve and that my spine is definitley out of alignment. He is pretty certain that he can relieve my pain and over time get my spine to stay in alignment. He did several adjustments and then put those electrodes with heat on my back to stimualte cell regneration and repair tissue damage. He said to keep working out and to try not to test the back with a lot of impact. I am feeling very hopeful that he can help. My hubby actually was quite impressed with his knowledge and his report of the findings. He is usually pretty skeptical when it comes to doctors and tests. I will be going 3x a week for 8 weeks and then he will do another xray to see what has happened.

Anyway, that is that. I am off to chow on Indian food and will check back here later.

Jackie, thanks for the info out the pilates. I am definitley going to check it out.

Susan

Hi Friends

~~Cathy~~ Thank you for noticing my comment. This really is a special group. :) DH and I take a Carribean honeymoon every year. It is cheaper our special time. If we can swing it we do a second trip alone too. He need to be out of town to really be off call for his profession. It is so good for our marrige.

~~Shelly~~ I ran for the first time on a TM on Monday 5 miles and today I did .35 outdoor miles with my running friends. I have slowed down considerably, but managed an average HR of 177. (I don't see the need to go any faster) Besides I was really trying to use the 4 Chi focuses. I still need to get acclimated to the Chi running method. But I fell petty goo as long as I don't sit too long here. I had to get my hair highlighted today and I still am not too stiff! So keep your fingers crossed.

~~~Carole~~ I am just doing GS upper body. For legs, doing what helps my glutes medius and IT band is my goal at this point. I also am trying to do some of my runs without leg DOMS. Perhaps I should look into more pilates like Susan.
~~~ Hi Wendy and all of you other lovely Cheetahs!
